I lasted no more than three weeks with Crunch, as the software lacks many features, most notably the ability to batch-reconcile entries from the same supplier or customer. The system forces you into resolving each entry one at a time, which is incredibly tedious.

Also, their receipt app doesn't let you nominate the expense type at the point of upload, so you have to do that work in the browser, which is frustrating when you've uploaded or photographed 10 receipts from a single supplier. It wasn't until a call with a Success Manager that it was pointed out that you could nominate a default expenditure per supplier beforehand, but this isn't flagged in the customer journey.

Honestly, the platform's UX is below par. It looks polished and lovely, but the user journey is poor.

EDIT: The reply below shows a 'we know best' approach to UX. There is a golden UX rule: Reduce clicks, not increase them. The attempt to automate the reconciliation is admirable, but not providing a user with the ability to batch-select entries and process them forces them into a one-at-a-time mode when the automation fails, breaking this UX tenet.

We take pride in our UX and the efficiency of our software, and feel this doesn't accurately represent the functionality or the support provided during your onboarding.

Regarding the points you raised, we’d love to offer a little more context for anyone else reading.

Auto Match:
We recently launched an Auto Match feature designed to help reconcile bank statement transactions with Crunch entries in bulk. While we are still working on adding even more functionality to this and other areas of Crunch, this feature is specifically designed to eliminate manual reconciliation.

Receipt Capture:
Our SNAP! app is designed for rapid "on-the-go" capture. While it is a third-party tool, we provide extensive help guides on how to use it effectively. We will continue to look at ways to make these resources even more prominent for new users.

Onboarding & Efficiency:
Our Client Success Managers provide software walkthroughs specifically to highlight time-saving features - including default suppliers, auto-match, and recurring invoices. These are core components of our onboarding journey designed to prevent the frustrations you mentioned.

While we're disappointed that Crunch wasn't right for you, we remain confident in the efficiency of our software and service.

Fab online accountants

You can use Crunch as much or as little as you want. I love the bank reconciling system and then when I get stuck I can reach out on live chat or email to get support. The accountant phone calls I've had have helped me save money. Just this week Sean Vaghela talked me through my tax return and it all makes much more sense now.

I’ve been with Crunch for some years

I’ve been with Crunch for some years. They used to be really good. Assigning a single account manager to me and the software worked great…..
Now… The software has multiple bugs!
I have no account manager and it seems hit and miss as to who a get to reply to me!
Various incorrect answers and some are just very vague!
Years ago I would have recommended them…. Not now sadly!

An excellent online tool for managing a…

An excellent online tool for managing a small business, with much of its functions being automated and performing efficiently. However, it seems to have shifted from providing valuable consulting and accounting advice to merely offering a software service. I don't receive the in-depth tax advice needed for maximizing business efficiency. Interactions with accountants often feel like checklist exercises rather than insightful discussions. Given the cost, this aspect falls somewhat short of expectations.

Good platform - lack of tax 'consultancy'

Great digital platform to run a small business from. Most of it is automated and works really well.
But what used to be an accountancy with good consulting advise has turned into a company offering a software platform. I do not feel that I get any serious tax advise that makes me optimise my business. Most of the interaction with accountants feels like speaking to juniors who run through a check list.
For the price they ask for this is a bit disappointing

Cannot be trusted with your data

Honestly, cannot believe what a shambles.

I had a free trial for a month - where I was unable to login to my account. Someone from their support team sent me a link to add a password, I logged in and it was someone else's business information in there. Absolutely crazy breach of data. I will be asking them to delete my data immediately.

This was after being harassed by them by phone and having to tell them to stop throughout my trial period.

Also they sent me a survey monkey to fill in another area of data - so behind the scenes I imagine it's a manual mess.

Data Protection and Security

We have concluded a full internal investigation. We can confirm that no data breach occurred, and neither your personal information nor any other client’s private account security was compromised.

To streamline setups, our system pulls public records (company numbers and filing dates) from Companies House based on the business name entered. In this instance, an administrative error led to the wrong public record being linked to your trial profile. While this information is already in the public domain, we sincerely apologise for the confusion and concern this caused when you logged in.


Communication & Onboarding

We offer an onboarding form as a convenient way for our clients to provide the essential information required before we can grant access to a Crunch account or act as their accountant.

We currently provide a 14 day free trial with all our subscriptions, which begins as soon as you sign up. As a result, our team reached out to ensure we could gather these details quickly.

Our goal was to ensure you could access our service and fully utilise the trial period, rather than it expiring while the account was pending. We apologise if these follow-ups felt intrusive; they were intended to ensure you got the most out of your time with us.

We will honour your request, and your data will be deleted. If you would like to discuss this further, please do reach out to us via our latest email.

Been with CRUNCH for almost 2 years now.

Clumsy software - seems easy, but you sill need to file a lot by yourself

The accountants work for them and not really for you.
