The Dog at Over Toby Carvery Highnam Harriet was our waitress she was a great hostess funny and made our meal the best ever shout out for Harriet thank you.

Breakfast is lukewarm food and expensive, I had a issue with my debit card and found the waitress not friendly. Overhaul experience disappointed.

Toby EXETER, Massively OVERPRICED,
All the usual traits…3 pence worth of batter mix in the form of a Yorkshire pudding right at the start covering a third of the plate minimising what you can actually put on the plate,
the meat portion was a ridiculously small amount consisting of only two of the thinnest slices I have ever seen, roast potatoes Stodgy as always. Again as soon as you arrive drinks pushed on you, in this case refillable coke at £4.20!! amounted to 2 glasses in this case,
Total bill for this low grade meal £27.80 does not represent value for money. Never again!

The worst service received at BRISTOL maes knoll on 2nd June 2024
The order was just over £40 and you are pressurised into ordering more when they want - not when you want !! FOOD not good and meat poor quality and sparing !! we were relaxing after the meal and drinking the bill thrust on the table , after even when glasses were half full said about paying !! we would have ordered ice creams but they wanted the money urgently , can't understand the rush as the pace was half empty ????
At the counter I was shown up as they knew I was not too pleased and the glut of staff hanging around the bar was proof of being under employed , they thought it was a huge joke showing up customers , and the one that served me argued to have the last word , no wonder the place was half empty , it's a wonder they get any trade at all !!
It left me so angry I complained to head office !! Management nowhere to be seen so while the cats away the mice play !!!!
THE WORST TOBY IN THE COUNTRY IS BRISTOL !!! I know as I do 30,000 miles a year . . . .
The BEST Toby carvery is the Coldra Newport and second best is Caerphilly , they should teach the rest !!

Had a £10 voucher for my birthday so I took 4 adults and 2 children for a carvery. Busy restaurant tonight poor waitress run off her feet. Food quality was excellent (as always). We all 6 had puddings and the bill came to £96. I had to pay £90, so my £10 voucher was reduced to £6 because the children had had special offers. The adult meals and puddings were well over the £25 required spend. Not happy about that. This was at the Watermill, Sutton in Ashfield

Service was appalling today lad who checked you in didn’t have a clue what he was doing, he looked like he’d been to bed in his clothes not very welcoming at all, lad serving was more bothered chewing his gum than looking after customers, will not be going back to toby on broadway Walsall again

Ordered 3 take away carvery. I was given 1 which they corrected when I told them. Came in a round bowl, meat, mash, 1 piece cauliflower which was hard, a spoon of mixed peas, corn and green beans, pot of gravy and a freezing cold Yorkshire pudding in a bag. In my wildest imagination I fail to see how this would ever come to a penny short of £14! Can you explain to me why the takeaway that cost the same as a sit down meal didn’t have as many components that a sit down would have?

The night before the weekend, our family gathered for dinner. The environment and food are great, fresh and delicious. We ordered some soda drink, and the message "unlimited refill" was displayed on the left side of the menu. However, when we went to refill, the staff told us rudely that the order we ordered was not refillable. We immediately showed her the menu, and she said that the price could be refilled at another price. When I further said that the relevant information was not displayed on the menu, the staff said unkindly that most guests would ask when they place their meal. We felt embarrassed and unhappy because I really couldn't get the relevant information when I order the meal. It is recommended that restaurants indicate the price of refillable sodas on their menus to let guests know that we really don’t mind spending more. The unfriendly attitude of the staff is really disappointing.

The last time we had a Toby Carvery I complained about the watery gravy and undercooked carrots, we have been today and what a difference from our last visit. Everything we had was quality and the staff were lovely, it's important to praise when deserved well done Toby.

Visited today 8th May 2024 at 4.30pm after hospital visit. Great Ambience and great service. Special mention to Maddison taking great care to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Thanks .Maddison once again

The cost of a carvery versus the meat served was really shocking. Three thin slithers of turkey was served to me, the server also did not make us aware that Toby has a 2 or 3 course meal deals, so when I ordered 2 carveries and 1 pudding, on the bill it came up as one full cost meal and one 2 course meal. In normal circumstances I would have been fine with this but I had a voucher to save £10 on total bill of £25. So I had to pay £24.58 instead of £17.57 for 2 carveries and one pudding if the bill showed the price from the menu individually. The server said she could not override it and I was left shocked and had to pay what showed on the bill. No explanation or notification on the menu about the offer etc. in this day and age where people use vouchers to save any amount of money they can, I felt ripped off. We shall not be visiting Toby in a hurry that is all I can say!

I visited Toby carvery on Tuesday, the 30th of April with my sister for a light lunch, when we entered the pub, waited 10 minutes at the bar to be served for a drink staff out the back gossiping and customer service was poor, when we came to order our food, we asked for the stuffed giant Yorkshire to be told rudely we do not have any, there was only two other gentlemen in the bar area enjoying a quiet drink so they cannot use the excuse. They were stressed or busy. As we had a drink on the table already, we felt obliged to order something to eat I ordered some chicken pops and salad and my sister ordered a sandwich when the food was brought out to us. It was slapped down on the table without a word from the service member. Food very average will not be visiting this particular branch ever again.

Toby Carvery, Hoole Village. Chester
Saturday morning before 10 am. First visit to this venue. Parking OK. Not impressed at having to squeeze past smokers at the front entrance. Apparently pub has food hygiene rating of '5'. Buffet style for food, open aspect. Bacon quite old. Fried eggs all firm and aged. No scrambled egg unless ordered at bar. Most items cold/ luke warm . Plates warm on stack. During meal one of us found two long human hairs 'woven' between their rashers of bacon. The filter coffee was good. Apparently it is possible to order freshly cooked meal at the bar in lieu of buffet. Overall a very disappointing experience. We will not be visiting this venue again.

I am white British, my wife is Filipino, my 2 Children are of British, Filipino decent. We visited Toby at their Kidsgrove Branch, Stoke on Trent. To be met with the most unwelcome reception. After ignoring us, one of the girls, decided to greet us. She took us to a table in the corner, behind the carvery, after we got our carvery meals, they totally ignored us. I do believe a bit of Racism here, due to my wife's and Children's colour of skin. Out of sight, out of mind. After paying my bill, I noticed that there was a lot of 4 seated tables that were free on entering the restaurant

Was in the South Croydon was dreadful serve. Waited over five minutes for a waitress in quiet Saturday night. Ended up getting my drinks myself. Waitress was chatting at bar with manager and bar staff gossiping and drinking. The food was but lamb was dry.

When we arrived with a lady in a wheelchair we're asked where we wanted to sit and encouraged towards bar service. When we said no as dark and dingy we were told could sit where we wanted
.We reserved a table for a disabled person with wheelchair. So then had to try and navigate a wheelchair around the restaurant. My Mum bashed her foot.

We went up and got our food. Then had 20 minute wait to order pudding when ready hostess didn't ask us how food was or if we wanted puddings. I had to get the second lot of drinks myself as well as waitress nowhere to be seen on a quiet night.

When we ordered puddings we told the waitress we had a voucher. She didn't query it or as which one.

We had a voucher and tried to overcharge us. When time to pay. Manager tried to say nothing she could do had to stand up for my rights as already paid via Wowcher. Manager kept lecturing me about saying either. I said that is the waitress job to ask which voucher. And we didn't want to discuss it anymore. Just wanted it resolved. The manager seriously was trying to make us pay the full amount and had scanned the voucher due to poorly trained waitress

The manager went away and eventually we were presented with the right bill. No apology.

To insult to injury. My husband was also shown to the ladies loo my the cleaners and the waitress called us all ladies as well at the beginning of the meal .
Only writing the review as waitress has been asking larger groups she thought she might get a tip to give her review

A table next to us she ignored so badly at the end of their meal, they joked about walking out

Lastly as we left we noticed another earlier table were smikung skunk outside. Nothing was done about it or noticed

ThisToby Carvery has really gone down hill. My son fancied a Roast and hes just bagged himself a new job, so i took him as he wanted to go to the Toby in S croydon. The waitress her name was Leah , she was brilliant, she was run off her feet, she mentioned that there was only her and another employee for the whole retaurstaurant, each having their respective sides!!! She was lovely, but the food was really poor, the cauliflower was hard and tasteless, the peas were over cooked, the roast potatoes were soft, the gravy was runny and thin, the beans were over cooked , the sweetcorn was tinned and the spinach and mushroom pastry had too much pastry, and not enough filling and it was burned . The deserts are nicer- im not a desert person, but i needed something to take the nasty taste away - its like Mr whippy ice cream, with choc sauce and cookie dough - more edible than the roast . I wont be returning ! I spent about £50 for my son and i = £25 each, i meal , i desert and he had a coke, bottomless, i had two non acoholic pink gins, i didnt think the food was worth paying for, but out of decency i did , its like school dinner roasts ! not good !!
