I visited the Quinton Toby and ordered…

I visited the Quinton Toby and ordered a king size carvery to take out and a pint of Stella. I wanted to pay in cash and offered my money to be told they don’t accept £50 notes. The bar staff member was very polite I asked her to cancel the food and I will pay for the drink as she had already poured it. I had enough small change to pay for it. I refuse to give anyone my business who does not accept the country’s & Kings currency.

Uncooked food

From chester Food un cooked roasters were like hard white new potatoes Yorkshire's were not even a shape they were small flat squashed pieces food cold the cook who served us had a rotten jacket on looked like not been washed and was very loud talking to other member of staff and sliced lumps of beef and showed no care not even looking at us or talking to us

The worst Breakfast ever

The worst Breakfast ever !
Booked in for 10.20 so allowed plenty of time before closing for breakfast - the display available was terrible ! Bacon so over cooked it was like cardboard and was swimming in a vat of oil as were the eggs, tinned tomato mush, no pancakes and everything else ( apart from hash browns) were so overcooked they were inedible ! Toaster didn’t toast and took asking two staff for bread to get the baskets refreshed, no sauce in bowls and dispensing table filthy ! Won’t be going back ever - such a bitter disappointment

Luke warm Sunday Roast

Unfortunately we were disappointed when we visited the Toby carvery in Morley for Sunday Roast. It was tepid to say the least, such a shame as it must have been good when leaving the kitchen. It was the fact that it was cold when we sat down to eat it we were in for 12:00 so by rights it should have been piping hot. Plates were cold which doesn’t help.
We ate what we could but complained to one another when our knives and forks were put down the waiter came to clear the plates and asked was everything alright so we said for £16 per head we would have expected the food to be hot. He asked if there was anything he could do like microwave what was left on our plates or get fresh, in which we replied what’s the point it would only be the same and obviously you should not have to heat a table of 5 food in the microwave.
The manager apologised and refunded us the cost of one lunch which was okay. We would have preferred to come in sat and eaten a hot Sunday lunch.

Toby carvery delivered

I love the toby carvery but this is the 1st time I've ever had 1 delivered and I was very disappointed, I only got to pick the meat I wanted, the veg was carrots and peas with ((coliflower cheese)) which i hate with a passion..!!.!! and it was put on top of everything so ruined the whole thing for me, and it came freezing cold, not worth £38, its put off the whole toby experience I'll be going to the harvester from Now on

Turkey was dry, Beef was good, sprouts were grey and hard-couldn’t get fork into them, cabbage & leek mix tasted odd & was tough, parsnips were hard, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were ok.
Worst Carvery we have ever been to.
Yesterday-26 August-I felt sick all day and visited the toilet many times, I had to leave my shopping trolley and dash to the shop loo, not pleasant.

Delivered wrong - twice

Ordered to have delivered - got order wrong. Order company sent out another order to sort out. Toby kept driver waiting for 40 mins and still got order wrong.

went to toby carvery at bow shaw roundabout near Dronfield on Sunday was verry disappointed as 14.99 each for standard nearly 30 pounds and the meal was terrible stuffing like breeze blocks potato to hard like bricks and to top it off large piece of fat which was suppose to be beef tried to tell bar staff but really bizzy so just left but definitely want go again verry disappointing for a toby carvery

Poor Service and Weak Management

I have visited Toby carvery, Bradford, three times now, and this is the first time that the service has fallen below excellent. In all honesty, it was an embarrassment.

On arrival, the reception desk was completely unmanned and myself and two other groups had to wait in line for an unreasonable length of time. This was made worse by the fact that two staff members were standing on the customer side of the bar chatting socially and ignoring the queue. I suggest that the CCTV be reviewed.

After being seated I ordered a prawn cocktail and a carvery. When the starter arrived I questioned the lack of garnish, and the fact that the accompanying bread was without butter. There was a significant delay whilst this was brought and once it arrived there was no knife. The delay from being seated, until the time I could actually eat was 45 minutes, which I do not considered to be reasonable. A manager was present in the restaurant and I called him over and explained my total dissatisfaction. Ethan‘s manner was condescending and patronising and he only served to aggravate my annoyance. He confirmed that lemon should’ve been brought with the starter, but stated that other garnish was normally provided. He tried to explain things away by saying that the restaurant was very busy, but this I challenged, though there may have a shortage of staff. I photographed the staff chatting and he simply asked me to delete this as the staff members had not given their consent. As this was a reasonable request I did this in front of him. Ethan was clearly and visibly annoyed that I was challenging him.

The food itself was quite delicious and the only issue with the carvery was that the beef was very stringy and couldn’t be eaten. I ordered 50% beef and 50% turkey. The turkey was fine.

At the end of the meal I requested my bill and I was extremely surprised when Kady brought this, and at the same time was drinking a glass of water. I noticed that no adjustment had been made to the bill and I asked her to refer to Ethan for this to be looked at. From making this request until Ethan graced me with his presence was well over 15 minutes. It should be noted that at this time there were only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant and there was no visible staff in my section for the last 20 minutes, apparently all staff had congregated in the kitchen. The other party in my section was clearly irritated when no staff member could be found anywhere. The other guest actually went off in search of someone. On his arrival, Ethan appeared to be in complete denial about our previous conversation, and when I told him that I was completely dissatisfied with the standard of service, he was totally dismissal, bordering on rude.He told me that he had apologised for the shortcomings, and that should be enough. It was not, and I made it clear that I expected some gesture of recompense, and suggested the small cost of the starter be removed from my bill. He completely refused this and repeated that he had already apologised. I don’t feel I was being unreasonable, and I made it very clear to Ethan that I would make a formal complaint if he remained unhelpful and uncooperative. I have now submitted a formal complaint to Toby Carvery and their holding company.

Had Ethan possessed the managerial skills necessary to be in charge of the restaurant, this matter could so easily have been resolved in the restaurant at the time. Tonight’s meal was a birthday situation, which I admit, the restaurant had no knowledge of. That said, Ethan single-handedly ruined the evening, and I now seek full recompense from Toby Carvery

Poor aervice

Excellent food. Lovely surroundings. Poor service. Was seated at a table and waited 15 mins to be served. Asked a fella is anyone serving. He raised his hand and said with a little attitude what drinks do you want, quite rudely. Asked for the bill. Waited and waited, ended up going to the bar to pay. Not very good service at all.

I am writing to expresDiscount Voucher Mishap at Toby Carverys my extreme…

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding a recent experience at your Toby Carvery restaurant. My wife, our children, and friends visited your establishment in Maidstone.

Upon reaching the till, my wife explicitly informed your staff member that she intended to use an Octopus discount voucher. She reiterated this point twice and even presented the QR code for scanning. Despite these clear efforts to communicate her intention, the staff member proceeded to enter the number of people into the till and requested payment. My wife then presented a gift card, which the staff member scanned. To our surprise, the staff member then demanded an additional payment, stating there was a remaining balance. This was perplexing, as the gift card held sufficient credit to cover the full amount.

It became apparent that the staff member had failed to scan the Octopus discount voucher before processing the gift card, resulting in the full, undiscounted price being charged.

When this error was brought to the attention of the manager, Clab, we were met with a dismissive response. Manager Clab stated that we should have informed the staff about the discount "ahead of time," completely disregarding my wife's repeated attempts to do so and her presentation of the QR code. Furthermore, Manager Clab claimed that the credit could not be returned to the gift card and offered only two unacceptable options: pay the full, undiscounted price or leave the restaurant without the credit being refunded to the gift card.

We believe that Manager Clab made no genuine attempt to resolve the issue. A reasonable resolution would have been to adjust the charge to reflect the discounted price and allow us to proceed with our meal. Instead, we were presented with a "take it or leave it" ultimatum, demonstrating a complete lack of customer service initiative.

This incident highlights a serious deficiency in staff training and customer service protocols at Toby Carvery. It is imperative that your staff are properly disciplined and educated on the importance of attentive service, accurate transaction processing, and effective problem-solving, especially when dealing with discount vouchers and gift cards.

As a result of this frustrating and disrespectful encounter, we will not be returning to Toby Carvery.

The worst breakfast I have ever eaten!

Without question the worst breakfast I have ever eaten!

When I arrived there was no one on reception to meet & greet, I waited and eventually someone came and confirmed my pre booking.

The self service breakfast had clearly been hanging around underneath heat lamps for a while and most of the food was dried up - The bacon had a VERY rancid flavour, the sausages were hard and the mushrooms were swimming in a liquid of some sorts! There were a number of items not available including the breakfast Yorkshire puddings and the cheese filled hash browns!

The only item that was acceptable was the baked beans and let’s face it it’s pretty much impossible to ruin those!

I would appreciate a response from the management team to this review and await the justification of why this was the worst breakfast I have ever eaten!

Went for a toby breakfast in keighley this morning, what's the point of getting customers in with cheaper breakfasts if you have a problem ordering food. I can't eat bacon and sausage. I spoon beans, Tom's and the egg was rock hard. Don't eat bread and NO mushrooms. Staff very rude. 2 people £17, diabolical never again worse than IHG free breakfast in Hull and that's going some
