Had cataracts removed and lens replacement done at Optimax, Charing Cross, Glasgow. One eye in November and the other last week. From the very start all the staff were professional, knowledgable and very reassuring. Surgery and follow up dates were flexible and arranged for times which suited me best.

Just been discharged after my final checkup with the Optimax Brighton clinic & I have to say ALL the staff were absolutely brilliant throughout. I am absolutely delighted with the outcome of my Refactive lens Exchange -a complete game changer! I would certainly recommend giving the clinic a visit if you’re considering an upgrade for your vision.
I also found their length of time in this field very reassuring.
The staff were professional, friendly and very supportive and the surgeon is amazing. 10/10 from me for a truly great experience!

I had a wait to be seen, but it was well worth it.
The operation is not too bad, bearing in mind it is the eyes which is being worked on. But it is now a day later, and I am delighted with the progress. I am seeing a lot clearer now (as your sight is hazy at first, but now a lot clearer). My follow up check up was very good as well.

I have a phobia of eyes and Fionna and the team were able to get me through my lasik appointment, they were top class from start too finish and are always on hand and happy too help, I can’t believe the value for money I got with now having 20/20 vision.

This has been the most exceptional experience of my life. The entire team, from the front office staff to the opticians and the surgeon, demonstrated outstanding professionalism and expertise.

For anyone in a rush my headline take-away for this review is that it was an amazing experience, quality result with a highly competitive price and excellent service.

I first reached out to Optimax (Glasgow) in October, 2025 as I made enquiry with numerous laser eye providers across the central belt of Scotland. They were by far the cheapest from the outset and Elaine was my first point of contact. She was knowledgable, high professional and extremely helpful with my array of questions. Booking in for my initial appointment was easy and involved no pressure at all to progress with any treatment.

I was looked after at my initial appointment by Lauren who was equally fantastic in terms of answering my questions, giving me a tour of the branch and facilitating my consultation with the Optometrist (I unfortunately can’t remember her name but she was brilliant). Thankfully, I was eligible for LASIK and the team were kind enough to help me navigate the booking of appointments for treatment and follow-up around my chaotic work schedule.

As a patient, I couldn’t get treatment until I had an appointment with my Surgeon - Dr Malcolm Samuel. Given that I had a little anxiety about the treatment, he spent extra time explaining each stage in detail and gave me the reassurance that I needed.

On the day of treatment, booking in was flawless and the team immediately took great care of me. I was anxious and apprehensive but the team did so much to settle my nerves. When it was time for surgery, I was looked after by the amazing Bibi, Lauren, Nicola (Nicola kindly held my cowardly hand for the duration of my treatment) and Dr Samuel. I was so surprised at how quick the treatment was. There’s not doubt that it’s a slightly odd experience getting laser eye but as the biggest coward around, I can tell you that there was no pain, the process is slick, quick and within a minute or so of walking out of the theatre - there was already an improvement in my vision.

I got leave almost immediately and followed the advice for the first few hours post-surgery which meant that I was comfortable. Within an hour - I looked out of my window and was amazed at the new high definition before me! A routine follow-up appointment took place the next day and then a week after - all consistently providing reassurance and key information.

I now have better than 20/20 vision. My eyes feel less gritty every day and I can’t emphasise enough how delighted that I am with the result. For me, it’s reassuring that I know that I can call or visit the team at any point for any advice or to help with any queries. Team Optimax Glasgow - thank you, thank you, thank you!!

From initial contact through to having ops on both eyes, the staff at Optimax Glasgow were excellent. Nicki and Lauren ensure you are well informed and looked after pre and post op, and the surgery team make the experience easy and relaxing.
All the staff are welcoming and friendly, making a stressful situation easy to cope with throughout.

Cannot recommend Optimax enough! I went to Belfast branch and they couldn’t have been more attentive throughout the whole process. I was completely put at ease throughout the surgery and Dr Damani was amazing! Special shoutout to Fiona always a smiling face and happy to answer any questions!

The team in Glasgow put a a lot of time and effort into making sure that you’re okay and comfortable at every step in the procedure. They take a lot of time to make sure you understand everything and that you’re not rushed into anything.
Overall it was an exceptional experience.

The Cardiff Clinic We’re superb so glad I decided to have the procedure

From start to finish the team at Leeds were professional, honest and very knowledgeable. The procedure was simple and straightforward (I had lens replacement) and was very quick. It is amazing to be able to see without glasses and contact lenses and I was able to drive after two days.

I had LASIK surgery at Optimax Peterborough in January 2025. It’s now October, and although my eyes are better than they were during the worst parts of my recovery, they are still worse than they were before surgery. I genuinely wish I had never gone ahead with it.
On the day of the procedure, I was left waiting for hours. Immediately after the surgery, there was an issue with my right eye. This was never properly explained at the time and only added to my anxiety. The aftercare that followed was inconsistent and reactive. I had to repeatedly push for help when things began to deteriorate, including multiple urgent visits, phone calls that went unanswered, and being passed between clinicians.
My right eye developed DLK (inflammation under the flap), then an epithelial erosion, followed by extreme dry eye and light sensitivity. I was unable to drive, unable to work, and unable to care for my child for weeks. My son had to live with his grandparents while I recovered, for nearly two months. I had to rely on work colleagues and family to get to appointments and was in constant pain for a long time. Even now, I suffer from dry eye and light sensitivity.
Optimax’s internal complaints process was dismissive. They eventually admitted communication could have been better but refused to take accountability for how distressing and disruptive this experience has been. They denied that anything went wrong, despite me needing months of follow-up, steroids, and support.

I’m writing this review 6 weeks after my surgery. I had my consultation at the Peterborough practice and everyone there was super friendly. I had my surgery at the Leicester practice. The doctor (I think their name was Dr Bohjani) was amazing. They were so reassuring and patient and talked me through everything they were doing. Honestly I wish I’d contacted them sooner. The surgery went great. They give you great aftercare advice. And I was able to see comfortably the next day. I’ve had a couple of check ups and my vision is perfect.
