I had mono vision laser and after 1 day the result is fantastic, I couldnt read a number plate yesterday, today I can read the ingredients on a packet. The procedure took less than 10 minutes, only thing I felt was pressure when clamps went on but that was just seconds and felt like someone gently pushing your eye through your eyelid. The 3 hours after were the worst of it which felt like peeling strong onions, but they give you drops for this, putting one drop in when it starts, stops it straight away. I wasnt uncomfortable at all after that. I can not thank cardiff enough! the staff were so nice and welcoming. My surgeon Dr Morande explained everything and answered everything i asked. There was no sales pitch and I didn't feel pressured like optical express. Brilliant! can't praise them highly enough

Every single person at Optimax Finchley Road is so lovely, helpful, informative and caring. They are so welcoming, understanding when you’re nervous and explain everything perfectly. It’s so reassuring that so many of the staff have been through the same/similar treatment and are happy to discuss it from a personal point of view too. Thank you for everything! Everyone did their best to help me wherever possible and to calm me down when I was nervous too. What a wonderful place!

Had lasek surgery performed on the 14th nov 2025 in Glasgow store.
After months of backwards and forwards on my behalf I signed up months previous.
Staff in general were really helpful, wish I had it done years ago instead overthinking the procedure.
Surgeon was really good on the day very quick procedure speaking keeping me informed at all times.
The 1 person who stands out and who I would like to acknowledge is Zubair (optometrist) found him very reassuring and answered every question I asked him without me feeling rushed at all, really nice guy and a credit to the Glasgow store.

As someone whose number one fear growing up was surgery and hospitals, I’m very happy that I chose Optimax to fulfil my dream of finally being glasses-free. Every staff member I interacted with through the way was helpful, understanding, and patient. They all ensured that I had full knowledge of both the surgery and aftercare, and answered all my questions clearly.

The actual surgery itself was very quick and as soon as its finished it doesn’t even become a second thought. It was completely pain free and I didn’t feel the laser at all, I wouldn’t have even known the laser was on if the staff didn’t announce it. The suction cup part is uncomfortable and there’s no way to get around it, but I’m grateful the surgery team was communicative with me and did it all errorless. The only thing that caught me by surprise was how dry my eyes became in the first 3 hours after the surgery, but a quick 2 hour nap completely fixed it for me and I could open my eyes completely.

I also feel the need to mention how fair the pricing is. Without naming other clinics I also had my consultation in, Optimax was by far the most transparent and fair with the price offered to me - which was more than half of what other clinics wanted to charge me for the same procedure. Whilst I assumed at first that the fairer pricing might result in a lower quality service, I’m happy to say that wasn’t the case at all and there’s honestly little they could have done better throughout everything. Overall, if I had to do it all over again I’d definitely make the same choice.

I had mono focal lens replacement Surgery at Cardiff Optimax.

A professional service from initial consultation right through to surgery and after care appointment. My surgeon was Mr Jutley who was courteous, friendly and professional throughout.

I would recommend this company and Mr Jutley.

It’s been four days since my procedure and I am writing this review glasses free. I guess that’s great proof of success!

I’m so happy with my laser eye surgery. From start to finish, the experience was excellent, with truly personalised care and professional staff who went the extra mile. I felt genuinely looked after throughout.

Yasmin and the manager were outstanding – very professional and supportive. I had the surgery with my sister and we’re both thrilled with the results and wish we’d done it sooner! We both highly recommend the Finchley Road team.

I had LASIK eye surgery done with Dr Samuels at Leeds clinic on Friday 16th January. Everything was explained well and I felt very welcome and looked after from consultation to treatment day!
The girls on reception were amazing and always very welcoming! Special thanks to Sophie who walked me across to my hotel after having it done! 🙂.
The nurses that were in the treatment room with me were amazing and very reassuring, they got me through the painless surgery!
Dr Samuels was so so lovely and explained everything and answered all of my questions and did such a good job!
I went back the next day for my first checkup and was told I currently have better than 20/20 vision now!
Would 1000% recommend having the treatment done, it was quick and painless!

I cannot thank Optimax Cardiff Clinic enough. From the initial consultation with Michael where he provided me with all of the information, the follow up call with Dr Darcy and then the day of the Op everything was excellent.
I was quite nervous arriving for my ICL surgery however was put at ease immediately by all of the staff. The man doing the drops from Merseyside (not sure of his name) was amazing. The operation went smoothly and I was kept informed throughout by Mr Darcy. The aftercare was brilliant and it has exceeded my expectations. My follow up appointment I was told my vision is excellent. Thank for Optimax Cardiff!!

From my first consultation to aftercare, the experience was outstanding. The staff were extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about my comfort and results. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt supported every step of the way. I’m thrilled with the outcome and would absolutely recommend this clinic.

I had Lasik eye treatment done at Optimax 12 years go. I was so very pleased with the advice, treatment and outcome, that when I was recently told at a routine eye test I had cataracts, I booked a consultation at the Southampton clinic for Lens Replacement surgery and was advised of the suitable treatment for me. When I met the surgeon, Mr Radwan Almousa, he thoroughly explained the procedure. I had Lens Replacement surgery done in October. I cannot praise the excellent surgeon and the whole staff team. I was well looked after and monitored throughout. The aftercare service is very good and I am very happy with the outcome.

I had both lenses replaced on Friday by Mr Ilango at Optimax Liverpool and what an excellent service I received. I am back in work (Monday) 3 days after the procedure and I have had a pain free weekend with my vision improving faster than I could have expected. 26 hours after surgery my left eye was 20/20 and my right only slightly lower, both met the driving standard (although I have opted not to attempt that just yet). From the very first consultation to the procedure I cannot praise the staff highly enough. The procedure only took 10 minutes per eye and there was no pain or discomfort at all. If you are considering lens replacement I highly recommend using Optimax and seeking the service of Mr Balasubramaniam Ilango who is exceptional in his field.

My eyesight is pretty much perfect and I have had minimal issues, the staff have all been lovely and helpful. My biggest issue has been the communication, I had to email to be told what time my original appointment was and there is no email or text confirmations or reminders for any of the follow up appointments which is a bit of a pain.

I was so nervous prior to my lens replacement surgery however, the staff were amazing and could not do enough to put me at ease, I would highly recommend this treatment at Optimax this has changed my life. Everything from start to finish was amazing thank you for giving me my sight back!

Great service and price! Finally went through with getting laser eye surgery after looking into it 10 years ago. A week now after the procedure, and having just had my second check up (first being day after, second a week or so after and a 3rd due 3 months after) and my eyes are perfect.

I had LASIK eye surgery on Thursday at Finchley Road and wish I never went ahead with it, I was too much in my head wanting it done and was ignorant to the people around me telling me thats it’s your eyes and you shouldn’t do it if they aren’t too bad.

My prescription was low -1.5 in left and -1.75 in right for my glasses and I could see without them but blurry in long distance.

If I could go back in time to stop myself paying in full and scheduling the appointment I would absolutely do it, the experience with the people isn’t bad but the results and pain I feel and regret overweights the benefits, first 3 hours very unbearable pain and didn’t want to be alive quite frankly very dark mental state and the fact that you don’t even get monitored they just do it and you’re sent home straight away shows they just want to get as many people booked in so they can make as much as possible and I can understand that but surely they should implement a waiting room where doctors monitor you or facilitate your healing.

The next day I went into Peterborough to get my eyes tested and it turns out I have 20/20 vision but to be honest I don’t see as clearly as when I had my glasses thats either because they operated a different prescription to “last you longer” from surgeons words but this is not ideal because it takes getting used to and you always stuck in your head why did I do it if I can see perfectly with my glasses? Im sure as time passes I will adapt to this prescription but something to mention as I want to be as honest as possible.

This is my experience so far now it’s 3 days and it’s healing but now I have severe stinging when using the eye drops.

I would say please DO NOT do it if you have small prescription and glasses aren’t bothering you too much, my glasses I realise now weren’t bothering me at all and it’s amazing after you lose something how much you realise you miss it and wish you had them back. I am young to mention as well only 18 and don’t know how this will effect me moving forward as also I have to stop my boxing and protect my eyes very much for the rest of my life as in contrast I didn’t have protect or care for my eyes at all they were fine.

May this review make you think properly on why you shouldn’t go ahead because if your glasses are not a big pain you will regret having the surgery most likely.

Last thing to mention your eyes after the operation no matter how long passes will never heal as if they were never operated so that’s very important also to remember!

It has now been nearly 3 weeks and I feel much better and have changed my review from a 2 star to a 4 star because my eyes have healed a lot and I don’t have sting in them any more and even when using the drops it’s all fine. One thing thats keeping it from a 5 star is because I can still see bright halos especially at night and when driving but hopefully this improves and I can say my don’t do it has now changed to a DO IT just be patient when recovering.

Best thing I’ve ever done! Would definitely recommend. I go mine done at the Leeds clinic who were absolutely amazing, so happy with the results and also the care during the procedure.

I was made very welcome and relaxed at the Cardiff Clinic.
Staff very attentive and professional giving lots of reassurance and information on the procedure and what to expect from start to finish.

Could not rate Cardiff optimax higher, professional friendly staff, no pressure to make a decision and very efficient with good after care

Had cataracts removed and lens replacement done at Optimax, Charing Cross, Glasgow. One eye in November and the other last week. From the very start all the staff were professional, knowledgable and very reassuring. Surgery and follow up dates were flexible and arranged for times which suited me best.
