I was so,so close - about 5 years ago now I think. Was about to sign on the dotted line, had paid a deposit (that I later got back as soon as I mentioned I'd been in touch with this site) but had one last browse online about Optical Express and came across this site. And very glad I did! The owner speaks from experience, her story is out there in the media if you choose to look it up. And lots of others with horror stories too. The upshot is, I realised the risks don't outweigh the benefit, despite the huge sums spent on glossy ads and PR and much as I yearned for a specs-free life. Lots of people have bad things to say and I didn't want to become one of them, so thank you for helping me to dodge a potential bullet!

A big thank you to Sasha Rodoy and her support during my ordeal.it was not at optical express but at focus clinic in wimpole street.
I had refractive lens replacement surgery with multifocals in February 2021,.i was operated by Samer Hamada at the London cataract centre in Wimpole street.
The pain started afterwards and 4 years later the pain is still there, it is debilitating and constant with no relief ( I will spare you the details).i have tried numerous treatments but none have worked so far. I had to stop my work as a teacher because of the pain. I wear 2 pairs of sunglasses when going out.it took me 2 years to learn how not to cry because of the severity of my symptoms.
Recently I was surprised to learn that in 2019 Samer Hamada while working this time at Optimax was already using multifocals lenses , and i found out that one patient is also in the middle of litigation with him because of complications. (Please visit "optimax ruined my life" for further details).
I also will add that some of my previous reviews were flagged as defamatory by Samer Hamada using this time his London eye clinic company which he owns, Google correctly dismissed his requests and kept my factual comments online for all to see because of their public interest ( in the process Samer Hamada disclosed all my sensitive medical data without my authorisation...) I kept this review to bare facts backed by evidence if required so that trust pilot or Google will again do the right thing against any possible actions by Samer Hamada or Focus clinic to suppress it and I hope it will be useful in order for you to make an informed choice, instead of relying on the thousands of positive reviews found on the website....

After having Lens replacement surgery in Jan 24, followed by Laser enhancement surgery in May 24 . My last appointment in Sept confirmed I would need glasses.
I have just collected my new glasses and contact lens (Jan 25) from SpecSavers due to my vision being so poor for driving and generally really poor for distance. I have tried to live with it for the last 12 months but I suffer from glare and halos and I suffer sensitivity to bright lights. Having the surgery was biggest mistake and cost me a lot both financially and mentally. My eye sight is worse after the procedures & optical express don’t care & your simply dismissed as a 1% of people that it’s not worked for.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Sasha. I was booked in for surgery but cancelled this due to reading reviews online. When OE told me I was only entitled to £250 of my refund, I came across Sasha and contacted her. She was quick to give me a call and help me through this. Sasha has remained in contact with me throughout and has been a massive help. I finally got the rest of my money back, much quicker than the 28 days they said it would take when I only received the first half! Thank you so much Sasha, you might have saved my life! 😁

I can't be thankful enough with Sasha and her work. I had booked a laser surgery with optical express and for some reason... I have a gut feeling about it, I wasn't sure of the way they were handling an actual surgery, even the "meet the surgeon" over the phone felt wrong to me, to informal... then I checked the reviews online and all the horror stories of many people left with serious issues after surgeries that I panicked and I wanted to cancel everything, then Sasha came to my rescue and helped me out to cancel everything and get my £500 back, without your help I would have walked away empty handed. thank you so much Sasha for you time, patience and dedication x

Was in the process of saving up for refractive surgery by Optical Express but started having doubts due to the incompetent and lazy customer service I received.
Everything was fine while I was there getting my eyes tested, but afterwards they couldn't be bothered sending me an email back about the details of the surgery when I kindly asked them for one. I called them up after weeks of receiving nothing but they claimed I wasn't even suitable for the surgery!
I told them I'd received an email stating that I WAS eligible for the surgery and if I'd like anymore information - hence why I had asked them to send me all the details.
The receptionist said she would send me a email about the details but didn't.
They also refused to give me the prescription of the glasses I purchased, which cost me nearly £300. I guess they don't want me purchasing glasses from anywhere else!
I suppose I could overlook a bit of administration incompetence, but with thanks to this site and reading people's horror stories of botched OE eye surgery, I'm going to stay well clear and spend my savings on something else

I feel like a guardian angel has just tapped me on the shoulder. Thank you for taking the time to call someone you don't know to stop them making a huge mistake. I'm a mum to a six year old child and can't imagine what would have happened if I had gone ahead and then suffered some of the problems I've learnt about from you and the information you gave me.

Excellent information. Honest and realistic. This woman deserves much, much more recognition for her endless charitable work to help keep people safe from a badly unscrupulous industry that butchers people needlessly.

Sasha is very honest and professional. She is very helpful for advice regarding eyes that have been butchered by laser eye surgery. I have terrible dry eyes after the treatment and optical express have now referred me to the NHS, so hopefully they will actually be able to help me.
For anyone considering getting laser eye treatment I would highly recommend that you do your homework on it first as once it's done you cannot turn back the clock unfortunately.

I'm so naiv. I try it out. Because 99% are positiv. No no no. That is bull-sh-t.
I took femto lasik for 3700 Euro. And now it is never ending nightmare.
The doctor wants op again. I say no. Because These damage in eye is more then ok. Every other doc say no op. Opt. Exp. Say yes.
These is unproffesional people they called himself doctors. That is unbelievable and ofcourse pain in eyes. Now my vision is complete Differential with Doubles and pain.
Thanks for nothing. Please dont make this mistake. It destroy your life completely. Thx for reading

After experiencing substandard treatment at Optical Express for Lipiflow, I contacted Sasha as I felt I had hit a brick wall regarding how to treat my dry eyes. She got back to me straight away and gave me invaluable advice regarding who to contact for a more thorough and professional Lipiflow experience. Having dry eyes can be really expensive, and you need to know who can be trusted to deal with this complex problem.

hi I had lens replacement surgery in December 2019 and its been a nightmare since. iv been a tattooist for twenty seven years and now iv lost my livelihood because of surgery by optical express and they couldn't care less. I was sold it as a fix all have amazing long and short vision. massive lie. iv been left with double vision headaches photophobia and they have just washed there hands of it buy sending me a copy of the disclaimer. its amazing these people can do this. iv now had to restructure me whole life to be able to work with the damage they have done. thank you oerml for helping me with this .

If it wasn’t for you I would have gone ahead and had surgery I read your reviews and am thankful! I’m still fighting for my 500 deposit back but at least I’m not having the surgery

I'm so glad I did. Sasha's advice saved me from what could have been a costly mistake.

Sasha guided me. To me exactly what to do to get my deposit of £1000 back. I was shocked as to how quick OE responded once I mentioned her site and I got my refund within 3 weeks abs a follow up call. Just imagine I am just one person who came across her website.. the thousand of people who don’t makes me very sad :( Sasha you are a true Hero 🦸‍♀️

I approached Sasha for a situation regarding my own eye surgery. It was not done as refractive surgery as such but nether the less as Sasha is well knowledge on eye surgery she helped me.

Thank goodness for the help and support from he wonderful Sasha!! I was feeling so depressed at not only feeling totally ripped off by optical express but the damage they have done to my eyes. Sasha is working tirelessly to support OE victims and to spread the word to the millions of future victims of this barbaric type of surger. these criminals must be stopped!!
