Can I ask if anyone else has been told…
Can I ask if anyone else has been told that the company was taken over by a new company and the warranty does not stand with this new lot?
My Mother in law was told this recently and a call out charge would be £90 for a two year old bed!
Preying on vulnerable people
My mum who is elderly and extremely vulnerable paid over £2600 as a deposit for a chair that was never delivered. Just before the chair was due to be delivered, a man phoned and tried to get my mum to pay over £2600 again. Thankfully this didn't go through. Since then we have been asking them for a delivery date. Eventually my mum cancelled the order because they couldn't say when or even if she would get her chair. We have now been waiting a ridiculous amount of time for the 'deposit' to be refunded. Calling them doesn't make the slightest difference. Frustrated beyond belief, my mum needs the money they took under false pretences returned in order to buy a riser recliner chair from a reputable company. Shame on Google for having this company at the top of the search list.
They took lf the money 2 grand and said 8 weeks.
They took half the money 2 grand and it isn't here 6 months later
Watch out.
Everything said about them is true. We especially didn't like the high pressure sales - this is not double glazing.
In particular I would urge people to read their terms and conditions before entering into a contract. We found them unacceptable - particularly the payment terms and legal ownership.
Needless to say they didn't get our business!
Shocking
Shocking! Avoid these people! pressure sales and not nice to my elderly mother who didn't buy from them on the day.
My late father used this company and…
My late father used this company and had terrible problems with the product he ordered from them. From the letters I've seen he never got a refund from them. I've now moved into my late parents house and I'm being bombarded with catalogues from them. I've put their mail back into the post box with return to sender written on the front of the envelope. This hasn't stopped them and still I'm being bombarded with their catalogues, it's constant harrassment. I've asked a women at the Mobility Furniture Company to stop sending me catalogues as my parents have died and i definitely don't want any of their products. She started shouting down the phone at me and was very rude. Avoid this Company at all costs..
********Avoid at all cost ****
Avoid at all cost
My 85 year old mum trusted this lot, gave them half the money for a chair £1200 , was told in October that she would have the chair Christmas !!! Guess what ? March , no chair . Then they had the audacity to ask for the other half of the money before the chair delivered !!!! Without even a date ?
Mum paid by credit card , thank god , the bank has returned her money , poor love needed a chair as she had had a stroke , now we are left to get her a reputable company to deliver what they promise … disgusting company with disgusting values!!!
Comfortable chair for my father in law
We called this company as we wanted a comfortable chair for my Father in law. He has been struggling to get in and out of his chair so an electric chair seemed the best option. From start to finish our experience was great and delivery was in the specified time and we were kept up to date throughout the whole process. Chair is a great hit and apparently very comfortable to sleep in :)
BE WARY OF THIS PRECARIOUS COMPANY.
BE WARY OF THIS PRECARIOUS COMPANY.
Around four years ago I made the mistake of looking on their website for an electric chair, the website asked about cookies which I always decline.
They appeared to have a good range, however, they do not display prices, and back then their site requested your information before you can get a brochure.
I started to complete the information requested and specifically checked the right boxes to ensure that I did not receive emails, calls or marketing materials. All I wanted to know was how much each chair was. Before clicking the "request brochure" button I changed my mind and deleted my information from the online form before leaving the site.
The next day I received a phone call asking me to allow someone come round to perform demos, this has since been followed up an abundance of marketing materials and emails.
I asked the caller how they obtained my number, they stated from the website, I asked how, because I did not complete the form and removed my information.
They couldn't provide a satisfactory answer and gave me some fluffy reply along the lines of it is like leaving goods in your basket. I was disgusted and stated they had no right to obtain my data without my permission.
I pointed out that on the form (that was not submitted), that I specifically requested no sales contact, all I wanted to know was the prices, so why are you calling me? They were polite, but pushy, and promised to remove my data and to never contact me again in any way shape or form. LOL.
Since then I have received other phone calls forcing me block and report their number as SPAM, I have emailed and written to them requesting they stop harassing me with mail, email and phone calls and to remove my information, all of which has been to no avail. Even the unsubscribe button fails to work on emails.
Since contacting this company I have received ever increasing levels of similar emails, calls, and letters from countless other companies.
One of the dubious companies they use is a company called Media Verts in Leeds, (this company appears on the outside to be bogus, after investigating it they have no website, nothing on companies house, and according to the industrial estates records they have no business in that name is registered there), they send their literature along with countless other companies I have never heard of.
Todays letter tipped the scales, hence this review, I received a letter addressed to me but the letter inside was addressed to someone else, some of the information inside provided details of another person.
This company clearly can not be trusted, I sincerely advise people to be aware of their potential data breaches and flagrant disregard to GDPR. Personally I am sick of this companies poor business practices.
I hope this proves useful and hope that no one else has such issues.
PS. I never did receive the pricing information, they only want to come out to your house, anyone who hides prices in this way has to be dodgy.... This method allows the seller to make prices up.
See my Google review for photos proving what I have said. The letter was today and my attempts at contact and resolution ignored as per usual.
My 88 year old father with dementia was…
My 88 year old father with dementia was conned into buying a £4K chair which did exactly the same as his current one. He had nobody with him and was sold a product for care homes/ hospital which shouldn’t be sold to general public in my opinion. He sat it once before being admitted to hospital and when I try phoning they say no returns , I asked about warranty oh yes 5 years but not transferable to anyone else, ok so the 12 month warranty where’s my certificate oh we don’t give them right so basically provided a £4 k non-wipeable (useful for the elderly) chair with no certificate at all. Don’t let your relatives or yourselves be tricked into buying total joke be lucky if I get £400 for it .
Go to Care Co better service and not out to rip people off.
A home appointment was arranged for 3pm so a family member could be there, they came at 9am! Gran was persuaded to buy a chair, 84 yrs old with onset dementia. Within a couple of weeks she commented how uncomfortable the chair was. On checking the chair it was noticed the material near the zip had come away due to to much filler. A so-called Technician came and ripped the inner Case and removed some filler, zipped back up and off he went leaving Gran with a bag of filler and rip still. While helping my Gran to dress I noticed bruises on her back and was very confused. We took the back cushions off and replaced with her own cushions off her sofa. That seamed to work for her back ‘bruises fading’ but said its still uncomfortable to sit on. It was also noticed that Gran had a pressure sore from this £1800 chair!.
Plenty of persistence with these con-artists or they will do what they can to get out of giving people money back. I did get my Gran a refund by bank transfer ‘so refuse a check?’. I went to CARE CO and brought a leather massage and heat riser chair and she loves it, and it was half the price. Avoid these like COVID-19, they pray on the Vulnerable.
DO NOT USE THEY ARE A SCAM COMPANY TRADING AS THE MOBILITY FURNITURE…
TRADING AS THE MOBILITY FURNITURE COMPANY. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS THEY ARE A SCAM COMPANY WHO ROB THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED. This company was trading as The Mobility Furniture Company they have traded under various names my parents bought a bed at £3500.00 and cancelled when we found out within 3 hours of the purchase this was the 16th January we are blocked by them you cannot contact them they have sent a cheque which has bounced and according to companies house they are going through insolvency the Financial Standards Authority removed their approval on the 10.1.20 DO NOT USE THEM we have reported them to the police and trading standards and are now going through a solicitor. This company is fraud.
AVOID THIS COMPANY!!
AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! My mother placed an order and paid 50% deposit of £1200. She cancelled the same day and received a confirmation letter promising refund within 28 days. She has not received it. I spoke to someone at the comapny and was completely blocked. Do not use them and tell anyone you know with older/friends and relatives. They take advantage of old people.
Be very wary of this company
Be very wary of this company whose name has now changed From MFC to GM GEECO LTD
During the summer, I contacted the company wanting to buy a riser recliner two seat settee for my elderly mother. On the phone the price given was about £1500. On a Friday afternoon a sales representative visited. He started with an alarming price of about £7000. He said they would bring the settee and can remove current ordinary settee. They would give £300 for the old settee. After some negotiation on the price he called their office and said they would give 40% discount, and after £300 credit for our current settee (quite new), the price would be £3800 and they wanted £1900 on account right then and £1900 to be paid on delivery.
The sales representative said if there is a settee in stock it would be slightly cheaper but not much cheaper and called the office saying there isn’t any in stock at the moment.
He asked my mother to pick a colour-pattern and material from a catalogue. He took some measurements. I asked if the chair was going to be made with special dimensions, he said no they are all the same. The chair wasn’t to include any add-ons apart from back-up battery.
Being worried about mum and not thinking clearly, I accepted to buy it. He filled a form that was on his lap and asked me to sign it. I had heard him put the name and address, type of chair, measurements and price, so didn’t look at the details and signed it. I just trusted the man.
He said £1900 would come out of account now & another £1900 after delivery in 4 to 6 weeks.
We paid by credit card. Credit card payment was not being processed and was being blocked by the bank, we thought there is some technical issue. We called the bank who asked security details from my mother who gave it to them in front of the man. Eventually the card payment was made.
Then the representative left and while leaving gave me the contract paper. After he left, I looked at the contract paper and noticed a sentence in small writing at the bottom of the page: ‘only sign if you agree to terms overleaf’. I had not seen the terms and conditions overleaf and the sales representative did not say a word about them.
It transpired that if a box on the front page is ticked saying the chair is bespoke, the order cannot be cancelled! It came as a sudden shock. I realised there is something terribly wrong. I reviewed the price and felt it was extremely high.
I searched for the company on line for reviews and noticed bad reports and warnings even in the back issue of a newspaper. I immediately called their number but there was no answer; during the same evening I sent an email to cancel the order.
On Saturday morning I called them, the calls were going to a call centre who did not know what to do but were just saying they would pass on the message. Eventually I was connected to a person in the office who said the accounts staff are not there. I called a number of times and asked for the phone number of the sales representative but they said they could not give it to me.
Eventually after several calls the representative called me and said that I should just give written cancellation notice they would return the money. I did this by email and letter as per instructions in the terms on the back of the invoice (which was for non-bespoke cancellations).
On the first working day I called them, one of their staff said, there was no right of cancellation but due to the fact that I was very quick to do it, they would cancel it.
I asked them to cancel the credit card payment (expecting it to be straight forward like any retail outlet) but they said they cannot do it and the return of money may take weeks because the company was going through acquisition.
They told me they had called my mother, but they did not have her phone number and she had not received a call.
It was strange that they would keep £1900 for weeks when nothing has been bought or exchanged. Being worried due to unsatisfactory answers, I called the bank. They advised there were three transactions of £1900 each, on the card on three consecutive days. We had not authorised this. On Saturday a furniture company staff said, their payments & refunds staff do not work on weekends. But they had repeated the Friday transaction on Saturday and Sunday. The money had gone out under the name of another company called "Personal Choice" and not the “Mobility Furniture Company”.
It looked like fraud, that was almost all our savings and was extremely stressful.
We put restrictions on the card to stop further transactions.
I continued contacts sending emails to them which were not answered.
I contacted the police. We had to go to lengths to change banking details.
We waited to see if all three £1900 are actually transferred. Eventually only one was taken after one week (they could have cancelled all but had not done so).
After almost three weeks we received a letter without a signature or a personal name on it, saying the £1900 taken would show as Personal Choice on our statement. Another letter was received by email that the contract is not cancellable but being a “caring company!!” they would return the money in no later than 28 days.
After three weeks with no money back, by both phone and email I gave them warning that if our money is not returned within four weeks of the date of transaction, I would start court proceedings in county court. On the 28th day I sent an email that I would start court proceedings the next working day, on the 29th day (Saturday) a cheque arrived with special delivery posted on the same day with the amount of £1900 they had taken.
Be wary of this company and similar companies, don’t believe in high number of stars in the reviews it seems some of them are made up.
Search for such riser-recliners or special products from reputable outlets where you can go and see the chairs in the shops, and you know they would deal in fairness with you.
Hitherto I did not know there is a law about bespoke products that makes refunds difficult, after checking, there is such a law; but there is also a law that if a product is sold out of the outlet for example in your home and you have not seen it, then you are entitled to return it within 14 days and get a refund.
This company misuses the law to the disadvantage of customers; they are not upfront with their terms and conditions; lurking to place you in a trap.
Contracts can only protect a business if they are fair. The customer should easily understand what they are signing up to (not be trapped). If a term is not fair it is not legally binding on the customer.
At the time the original MFC directors were directors of other small companies at the same & other addresses.
GM GEECO LTD (company No. 11906015), MFC company No. was 07934534.
Same experience as Lewis Bates.
Same experience as Lewis Bates.
Depoist paid, no chair, little or no communication. They didnt return calls. Eventually made contact.
Got a cheque for deposit refund BUT it bounced.
These people should be prosecuted.

I live in an oap bungalow, the salesman called unannounced - he sold me a chair - list price £6,900 - but reduced to a bargain £5,000 !
Luckily my son visited 2 days later and managed to stop the deposit cheque and cancelled the order. He got this cancellation confirmed in writing yet they sent threatening letters stating that the 14 day cooling off period does not apply.
The companies Hearing Aids Direct Ltd and Hearing Solutions Ltd are owned by the same people - BEWARE.
Also - as others have said, all the many 5 star reviews are very brief most from people who have not done any other reviews - make your own mind up about those.
The whole experience was 5 stars from start to finish
The whole experience was 5 stars from the gentleman that came out to my house and explained everything to me.
The lady i spoke to on the phone had a very professional manner when called up to advise me of the time i was expecting my delivery. Delivery man that helped me understand how my new chair worked with all my questions answered.
Couldn't ask for a more comfy chair
Very professional service
Very professional service. Polite and efficient.
AVOID!!!!
I concur with many of the other reviewers here in saying that this company is highly dishonourable and completely unprofessional. My father appears to have fallen victim to this company and was basically duped into placing an order for a 'bespoke' chair, and paying a deposit of almost £2500. He proceeded to cancel this order within 24 hours upon the advise of his family and then received the 'standard' letter informing him that a full refund would be forthcoming within 28 days. Lo and behold, my father is still out of pocket to the tune of almost £2500 and numerous phone calls and emails sent to the Mobility Furniture Company have remained unanswered. It is now my father's intention to take further action with the involvement of the Court and ultimately the Sheriffs. I suggest everyone here who has or is experiencing similar difficulties with this shoddy company to do exactly the same.
Otherwise, preferably AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
WARNING
WARNING! THIS IS A DISHONOURABLE COMPANY.
We ordered a bespoke dual adjustable bed on 5th February 2019 and paid a £2,000 deposit the next day. On Thursday, 7th they phoned us and told us they couldn't provide that bed in the fabric we had chosen but could have it on a different bed.
The Rep returned on the Friday but we were dissatisfied with any of the alternatives and asked for our deposit back. Their Contract says they will notify us and return our deposit in full.
After several phone calls and emails they sent us a letter. Rather than apologising for the fact they couldn't provide the contracted goods, they told us the Contract we had entered carried no cancellation rights but they would grant a full refund that would be returned to us within 28 days from the cancellation of the Contract (which they could not fulfil).
On 26th March my credit company advised me that the £2,000 had been refunded to my account and the retailer had 45 days to challenge this so we are still not totally clear of this until the end of this time.
So if you want to deal with a Company that may not provide the goods without a struggle and refuses to refund your deposit as stated, this may be the company for you.
