They had a great selection of cars, all very clean and at reasonable prices.

I was looking for a car and l saw the McCathy garage on line. I started reading the reviews and most of the reviews were excellent. However, l rang the garage and explained the car which l was interested to buy. The guy called Steve had a long chat with me. I was really impressed and also the outcome. I did buy my car from them . All was very smooth and he did put a smile on my face throughout the process. I can refer anyone there. Everyone in their office was very nice from the reception to the sales team. I am very impressed.

Cannot fault McCarthy Cars, the sale was handled with complete professionalism and I was kept in the loop with any ongoings. The team and owner should be proud of the business they run and are hired at.

Special mention to Jonathan who sold me my car, true gentleman and helped me pick my car and get it all organised.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience with McCarthy Cars Croydon has been so appalling that I feel compelled to warn others.

I purchased a used vehicle from them just 6 months ago, and it has been nothing but a nightmare from the very first day. The car had a serious engine issue right from the start. Since then, I have had to return the car five separate times, and three full months of my short ownership have been spent with the vehicle in their garage. That’s half the time I’ve owned the car — completely wasted.

What’s worse is how incompetent and unhelpful their service department has been throughout. Despite repeatedly taking the car back to them, they have failed to correctly identify or resolve the problem. Each time, I’ve been told something different, yet the issue still persists. It’s clear they don’t have the technical knowledge, motivation, or customer focus to sort it out properly.

Every interaction with McCarthy Cars service team has left me more frustrated. There is no urgency, no communication, and absolutely no sense of responsibility. It feels like they are just waiting for the warranty period to run out so they can wash their hands of the issue entirely.

I trusted McCarthy Cars because of their long-standing name in Croydon, but I feel completely let down, deceived, and taken advantage of. They sold me a faulty car, and instead of standing by their product, they have done the bare minimum to help — and even that, poorly.

This has not only affected me financially but has also caused a huge amount of stress and inconvenience. I’ve missed work, rearranged personal commitments, and wasted countless hours dealing with this ongoing issue — and I’m still left without a properly working car.

To anyone considering buying a car from McCarthy Cars Croydon:
PLEASE think twice. Don’t be fooled by their promises or polite salespeople. If anything goes wrong after the sale — and in my case, it did immediately — you will be left on your own with no real support.

This has been, without question, the worst car buying experience of my life.

Was treated warmly and given a lot of information regarding the vehicle I wanted to purchase. Happy for me to view the vehicle and gave honest opinions on what they liked about it.

We delt with Steve who is knowledgeable and helpful and made the whole process easy.

Great experience all round , car was very well presented and I felt Jonathan was knowledgeable about the cars history , honest and not pushy at all.
