The app is truly awful. Takes an age to load anything and often crashes.
It's the same app as Admiral, but with a yellow branded skin and much, much worse.
They charged me to change my license plate 😂

Trying to get a quote go all the way through add payment details approve payment then get a message "unable to accept this quote contact us via chat" contacted them by chat and because the website doesn't give you a quote reference they can't help. Useless

Awful outsourced customer service who do not even understand basic English when requesting a change to a policy. This happened on multiple occasions where the advisor misunderstood what was requested requiring repeated corrections. In addition, their renewal quotes are substantially higher than their competitors even after attempting to negotiate a reduction with them. Clearly customer loyalty doesn't pay.

Disastrous customer services and no integrity as a business. My car was hit by another driver (not my fault). Elephant just wanted to write the car off (it's old they said...) and didn't want to help me understand the damage. After some fuss from me, they promised damage reports to be sent to me within 48 hours but then never delivered them. Eventually they admitted that these damage reports never existed, having never been commissioned in the first place, and that the decision had been made by an "analytics" system. Refused to provide me with said output of the "analytics" system. Said they would pay for the storage of my car until the next week, then less than an hour later on the same call, went back on their offer and said they would only pay until the next day. I have never experienced such a poor standard of integrity from a business. I told them so and they said they would investigate my comments as a complaint, but it would take 8 weeks! How can they continue to be in business if they are happy to make commitments to their customers they have no intention of keeping? My advice would be to avoid them like the plague since I would hate for anyone else to have a similar experience.

They asked for extra money for change of address. It wasn't a small amount - It was 234£!
Why should I be paying extra money for a change of address?
At the end after speaking to customer care - They were persistently saying that my area has higher incidence of accidents as per their data. But, if I buy new policy from that day onwards, I end up paying 150£ lesser than before. It boiled down to the fact that I had to cancel my policy and buy a new one if I had to change my address. I don't see what kind of business model would rather lose a customer than change an address for free!
I hate when a company deals with you as if their customer service person is a Tape recorder.
Although, the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because they refunded the amount back to my account appropriately.

My renewal quote increased by about 80% compared to last year and none of my circumstances or driving history had changed, which felt like a blatant attempt to exploit my loyalty. When I called to challenge it, they suddenly offered to see what they could do. This only made it worse—it confirmed they were willing to overcharge me and rely on me not noticing.
I always shop around and, unsurprisingly, found far cheaper quotes elsewhere. The lack of transparency and trust means I won’t return. If they valued customers, they’d offer fair prices upfront instead of relying on haggling or auto-renewal inertia. I refuse to reward such tactics.

awful awful company, I used them to insure my car last year as it was one of the cheaper options and let me just say you get what you pay for. Nothing is straightforward with them, they hang up on you, dont have a way to email them so that leaves you the livechat option. This livechat is utter nonsense as well as that their replies aren't instant and they will do anything to stop you from cancelling so you end up sitting their for half an hour waiting for an out after repeating yourself time and time again that you wish to cancel. There is no way to cancel an automatic renewal with the click of a button although I didn't even sign up for automatic renewal. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Proof of No Claims Certficate Issue
My Proof of No Claims Certficate was sent to me after not renewing my insurance.
I had one named driver who had a claim on his insurance for an accident in his own car that I had to declare when he was added to my insurance as a named driver.
This claim has been added to my Proof of No Claims Certficate as an claim aganist my car even though I have never claimed since my car was insured in 2010 with Elephant Insurance.
My new insurer want to increase my premium by over £500.00 for this claim even though it has never happened and have informed me that if this is removed from my Proof of No Claims Certficate the increase will be cancelled.
I have contacted Admiral/Elephant Insurance several times regarding this issue and have asked me to prove that this claim was not on my insurance and for my car even though they hold this type of information.
The sheer level of incompentance is staggering and I am still trying to get this resolved.
This is what happens when companies use low cost centres abroad and do not provide the proper training.
Been waiting for recovery for 16 hours now. I don’t know where I am. I’m cold. I’m tired. I’m now supposed to be at work 3hrs away. I’ve done just over six hours of phone calls. I’ve been ping-ponged back and forth between so many 3rd, 4th, 5th parties I don’t know who I’ve been talking to. People were supposed to ring me back or email me or whatever and I’ve not received them… So far; I can only be recovered to one place within the 10mile radius and they can’t see me for two weeks and I can only get car hire for 3 days, and I can’t do any of that until I’m recovered… Which I’m still waiting for.
Total rip off took a quote and they where triple the price of other quotes I got absolutely rip off company do not use
I've actually found the customer service guys lovely, but they are taking forever to process a really simple claim and rendering me car-less.

You never know how good an insurance company is until you make a claim, which is pretty infrequent right?
Well, I’ve tried making a claim through Elephant / Admiral against a 3rd party and it’s been painful to say the least!
Hours of phone calls and yet no action taken. Passed from team to team (once you can speak to a person. Usual route is robot > someone in India > someone else in India> someone in wales > someone else in wales > maybe the right team > nope another team > sorry they are busy.
We’ve a claim open. A complaint open. An information request open.
Poor systems. Don’t bother using these guys.
They are trying to charge me £200 for a mistake they made. Claiming I inputted the wrong date that I bought my car - apparently I put I was 11 years old when I bought it! I even showed them proof that I put the correct date, but all they respond with is “We’re sorry you’re unhappy, call us to cancel and pay £60.” Absolute Scam of a company

Absolutely scammers! 1.5 years after opening a claim this insurer still haven't fix my car and the vehicle is left on the street non driveable! The car was vandalised and police report were sent to this insurer 18 months ago! DO NOT INSURE YOUR CAR WITH THEM EVER !
A third party using Elephant drove clean into the back of my car writing it off. The team at Elephant are being ridiculous with processing the claim. It's been 4 months now and they still haven't contacted my insurance (Which is actually Admiral funnily enough). Not good enough and I will seriously reconsider using Admiral itself in the future if this is how it's group handles what is essentially an internal matter.
Terrible Insurance provider.
I urge you to spend the extra money on a different insurance company. The customer service team are rude and unhelpful and even if Elephant make a mistake, you will not get an apology or any compensation.
Take your business elsewhere.
Avoid this company at all costs.

Great customer service
I don’t currently have a policy with elephant but I have recently been a victim of identity fraud and I have had multiple car insurance policies taken out in my name throughout multiple companies. So far elephant has been the only company that has resolved this matter quickly!
With regards to policy number P68131419 I submitted a complaint reference 2000436222. Could you please advise?
I have attempted via phone with a view to update being presented on several occasions and via the complaints section - I am yet to receive any update.
This has been enduring for well over a year so any feedback which would help bring this matter to a close would be much appreciated.
