Our guide Alessandra was fantastic! The hotel was perfectly situated and food was great.

Beautiful location. Excellent tour guide. Lovely hotel fabulous views overlooking Lake Como. Amazing experience on the train journey up the Alps.

Third trip with Travel Department. Many thanks to my guide and driver for making the Baltics tour a really lovely time. Everything was organised so well and the hotels were great. I was a solo traveller and felt included and safe. Will be booking my next trip soon!

Had another wonderful vacation with the travel department this time to Ancient Greece. Our tour guide and coach driver were both wonderfully friendly and informative people who always took great care of us. Would recommend the travel department to all!

Our Tour of the 3 Baltic States was superb.They are close and good neighbours but each country has its own identity and history. The travel time on coach flies by because there are stops along the way.Our Guide for the entire 8 days was Kristina, she was outstanding and kept the group of 39 informed and entertainedwith just enough fact and story telling.

Beautiful location. Hotel staff and foid excellent. Guide very knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to give advice on location. She was so lovely.

Overall experience was very good. Only downside was that we spent alot of our time travelling on the coach. Our tour guide Carol and driver Enzo were incredible. We will definitely use The Travel Department again. Lake Como and Bernina express

Good guide, good co travellers and good hotels

I wouldn't go past The Travel Department for guided trips. I travelled with them 9 years ago to the Amalfi region and it was a spectacular experience. I travelled solo for the first time this year and it was just a special experience. I will most definitely book with them again !!!

Just returned from the Splendours of India solo trip. It exceded all my expectations. We saw so much .. The tour is full on with early mornings and long journeys between cities but the hotels were perfect and the food was great. I can’t recommend this trip enough.
A little word on our amazing guide Anurag (Anu). All we had to do was turn up each day and he took control of everything seamlessly. He was there for everyone and was endlessly patient and kind. Anu brought his beloved India alive with his knowledge of the all places we visited.. No questions were left unanswered . Our driver Rajender and our bus assistant Raj also deserve credit for taking care of us each day . If you thinking of going to India .. don’t hesitate. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough, it was exceptional and hopefully you will be lucky enough to have Anu as your guide .

Recent trip to Sorrento was a disaster. 24/9 to 1/10. On itinerary it said a 600m walk to hotel from bus park . It was far longer and the person I was travelling with couldn't walk the distance. She had to stop and I carried on then went back to her. Food provided for main meal and breakfast was not good. Staff were not very friendly. The hotel had a very old fashioned way to pay for drinks. You ordered at the bar then signed a receipt which was put on your room. we did not want a big bill at the end and because I was travelling with a friend I went each day to settle day before's drinks there was a gentleman at the front desk who didnt seem to like this but did take payment
2nd day there was a landslide totally not travel dept fault but we had horrendous time getting to pompeii and back on a packed train the poor travel guide had a awful time trying to look after 44 of us. that night and next day there was no water all over sorrento so no toilets.
4th day itinerary said a memorable guided excursion along one of Italys most iconic coastlines the Amalfi coast. that was a total joke another walk to bus to get to port to supposedly board a boat to take in spectacular coastal scenery. we were crammed onto a ferry no seats available upstairs so shoved inside no view out of window as all dirty so no options to take photos or see spectacular scenery. We were late leaving so only had a short stay in Positano tour guide for the day was useless. then crammed onto another ferry to Amalfi then crammed onto another ferry back to Sorrento.
Day 6 to Capri was good and tour guide excellent but had to pay extra to get a proper boat trip to see proper views of scenery . the poor tour guide was then let down as the hover craft back to sorrento and we were crammed onto another ferry with no seats available.
Gabriella our tour guide did her best but was under a lot of pressure with such a large group and all the mishaps.
I know landslides are classed as an act of god but the majority of the holiday did not provide what it said it would. I have done numerous holidays with the travel dept but I will be now looking for other options. It was my friends first time she would be reluctant to go again with them. Very disappointed with what was meant to be a dream holiday. Susan Conroy

Just back from South Africa trip with my wife. Fantastic experience, couldn't praise our guide Nicollette enough. So helpful, informative and knowledgeable about this beautiful country. The safari in Kariega was definitely the highlight for me, Darren the ranger was excellent. The hotels were very good, delicious food and drink. I would definitely recommend this trip and the Travel Department. We will certainly be going on future trips with them.

I can highly recommend Egypt and the Nile River Cruise which I have just returned from. This was an incredibly interesting, diverse and exiting experience which taught me a lot about Egypt and it's culture both ancient and modern. Our holiday guide, Dodi, was really excellent and ensured that we were all well looked after and that our scheduled excursions and downtime ran as smoothly as possible. It was clear that he loves his country and gave us information on history, culture and everyday life in Egypt with great clarity and humour. He also displayed great understanding of Ireland and our sense of humour. Maith thú Dodi agus go raibh míle maith agat!! The hotels for our stay in Cairo and Hurghada were both excellent with great facilities but the highlight for me was the 7 day cruise on the Nile which was unforgettable!! The staff on the boat went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after and were all very friendly and helpful. The scenery on the journey was amazing especially the sunsets. Our time in Aswan & Luxor were most interesting - between temple viewing and sightseeing through the various streets etc. Definitely a holiday that will be hard to top!! Linda K Limerick.

I went on the Extramadura trip in beginning of October. Very early flight from Dublin-6.20 am . On arrival we were collected in the coach and brought to our hotel and then a walking tour of Toledo. Given the slightly older profile of Travel Department customers, this was probably not the best scheduling as most were tired after the early morning flight. The hotel was quite far from the centre, your time in Toledo is very limited so don't expect to see much of the city.
The next day we went to Caceres to a great hotel. The breakfasts were lovely but dinners were really terrible,
There was no choice on the dinner menu -pork on 4 of our 6 nights, chips every night and no other vegetables of any sort or even salads. And portions were small. I take it that Travel Department had opted for the cheapest dinner menu as other groups appeared to get better food.
This holiday had a terrific and extremely knowledgeable guide, Alex, great tours, and individual tours guides. The hotels were great with friendly, helpful staff. But the terrible dinners definitely left me and my fellow travellers disgruntled, particularly given that this trip is quite expensive compared to our Travel Department holidays to Spain.
I have been on many Travel Department trips and have passed on my opinions to them concerning this trip. Hopefully they might check with others on the tour and improve their meal offering.

Coach was brilliant

I have just returned from the Travel Department Egypt Nile River Cruise including Cairo & Hurghada (26 Sept.- 8 Oct). Its a very worthwhile tour, and was brought to life thanks to the excellent Tour Guide, Emad Fathy, also known as Dodi.
His friendly charm and quietly confident leadership style ensured the group was managed with professionalism and super efficiency. He is clearly an experienced Facilitator which allowed the group to get to know each other, while he remained quietly accessible to everyone in the background. Nothing was too much trouble for him and any worries were managed confidentially and professionally.
He's a great asset for The Travel Department and his excellent reputation precedes him.
A word on Radamis II - its an old style boat with Agatha Christie vibes. Its not comparable with the ocean cruise ships, but holds its own charm, and is run by a team of super efficient staff, who are friendly and helpful. Its not new and shiny, but its a lovely fit for ancient Egypt and an incredibly relaxing way to cruise down the river Nile.

The Travel Department run excellent holidays. We went to Vietnam recently and our guide, Hung made a hug contribution to our enjoyment. He was full of interesting information, he was attentive, helpful and fun AND always fully in tune with our needs. He even set up a "fsmily" WhatsApp group so that he / we could share info, photos and experiences. Thank you Hung!

We had a most enjoyable holiday in ancient Greece organised to the highest standard by the ever reliable Travel Dept..Katerina,our guide ,was absolutely brilliant with her knowledge and easy manner..she really made our holiday special.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Montenegro last week and it was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Dada, was so friendly and an absolute goldmine of information. She was nothing short of fabulous and our driver, Nicholas was wonderful too. We just felt so safe with him behind the wheel…especially when going up the Serpentine Road! We also had the opportunity to spend a day in Albania and again our guide was brilliant.
We stayed in the Iberostar Hotel which was beautiful and clean. All the staff were so friendly, the food was excellent with such a wide variety that even the fussiest of eaters could surely find something they liked. We had planned the trip for my birthday and although we didn’t tell anyone the hotel staff picked this up from my passport and had a beautiful cake and a bottle of bubbly for me, it was a really lovely touch. I also want to mention the entertainment laid on by the hotel every evening. All the performers were top quality, very enjoyable evenings.
Our trip to Montenegro was absolutely wonderful thanks, not only because of the stunning scenery and friendly locals but to the Travel Department and Iberostar staff all of whom deserve six stars. I totally recommend this trip.
