Employ SDL at your peril
I paid in advance on 15th July to Homemove who appointed SDL to carry out a RICS survey and valuation for probate purposes.
SDL cancelled an appointment scheduled for 29th July with less than 24 hours notice.
SDL then cancelled a further appointment made for 11th August, despite my expressing urgency.
They then refused to reschedule and referred me back to Homemove, leaving me completely in the lurch.
Heads should roll for such amateurism.

Stay away from this organisation they are an absolute joke and clueless as well as incompetent. A valuer arrived at my property last week and literally down valued my property by around 90k. He was there for less than 10 minutes. The guy's name was Simon. Nice enough guy but clearly incompetent. He mentioned on his report that 550k (minimum) valuation by several estate agents in the area is "considered high and NOT SUPPORTED by evidence of sales in comparable properties". What a muppet. It takes a few seconds of research on Rightmove and Zoopla to realise he has massively down valued. When you look at comparable's you need to look at the state of those comparable's too i.e. condition of the properties. There were properties over the last couple of years or so that sold at 480k and 477k because they required FULL renovation work. There were properties that sold for 525k, 550k, 624k because these properties had renovation done to them. This is how you value properties by looking at the spec of the property as well as the structure. Similar to my property, I did full on reno work which is why several estate agents in the area valued it between 550k-575k. This guy was clearly clueless. I will be taking this further. I can understand a slight devalue because of the conservatory idea in my back garden but this is pathetic. A complaint will also be going to the financial Ombudsman Service once SDL investigate. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this company it is not worth it if you are looking to sale or refinance. There incompetency has a massive impact on others. My annoyance is the fact the devalue makes zero sense based on Simon's statement that the 550k price does not fit in with comparables. A message to SDL, you need to put this right for me immediately and give better training to your employees.

Lovely experience
