Metro --- Discrimination at its best.
I go into this METRO location every week to buy basic necessities. This time as I enter
the store I am stopped by an Asian employee, who informs me that I have to wear a mask
in order to enter the store. I tell her I am handicapped and have a medical condition, and can't
wear a mask. She tells me a second time that I can't enter the store if I am not wearing a mask.
I tell her again about my condition and this time I ask to see the Manager, and we walk over to
the customer service desk. The manager will not identify herself, but someone talks to the
employee. Again I inform everyone at customer service that I have a medical condition and that
I am handicapped and can't wear the mask because I have difficulty breathing. One of the
ladies at customer service remarks that we are in a pandemic, and that I should know better.
I inform this individual that it is Metro and its management team that should know better, and
to properly train their employees on the merits of proper policy and not to discriminate
against people who are disabled or sick. Then I turn and walk away. When I am leaving, several
individuals at the customer service desk make remarks at me and I walk over and ask for
the Store Owners name and number and the names of the individuals at customer service.
I tell them that I shouldn't come into this store and be treated like an animal, or any differently
than any other person, because I can't wear a mask. At this point the employee that stopped me
when I entered the store , walks over and apologizes and says she didn't know these policies.
This time I ask for the managers name and the names of the other employees and inform them
that I am entitled to the information in order to file a complaint. Although they continued to argue
and say stupid comments towards me, the managers names were Terry and Amanda. The store
owner's name is Garth Cameron. Even though I called many times to resolve this issue, no one
ever called me back.
The existence of companies like METRO and the discrimination and racism that they direct towards
people like me, is the leading factor why you can no longer rely on the industry to do what is at
the best interest of all consumers. Subsequently, through the power of BIG BUSINESS LOBBYING,
you can no longer rely on the government to regulate this industry, and you create the
industrialization of racism, and through Corruption, false predictions and exploitation through
hardships, this will bring about the demise of the poor, weak, old, disabled, and countless other
marginalized groups. This regulation process causes extreme physical and Psychological torture,
and has created a impenetrable barrier that protects BIG BUSINESS, massive profits, and through
time will act as the catalyst to exterminate the lower portions of society. This isn't an illusion, it's
happening all over. I filed a non compliance complaint with the city of Toronto, and I will be taking legal action.
Time to take a stand-reviewed.
The news bulletin CTV put out regarding the large grocery chains lacked important information: the hourly rate increase is being replaced by a bonus.
I have since reviewed my position and learned to get all the facts before reacting. I will always take a stand in the face of injustice but need all the facts first.
