Ordered meat for 8 people… huge let down on Xmas eve
Ordered Christmas Pork Rib to feed 8 + people two months prior to arrive on the 23rd December. A box arrived containing a rolled belly pork joint to feed 4 people. We got no warning, they didn’t have stock an d charged us for the alternative product we never wanted but kept the difference to use as credit. - like you’d want to put another order in again after being let down? It’s happened before and we aren’t using them ever again, they don’t care and are relying on old reviews to keep them going from when it was a good outfit run for the the benefit of other farmers. They don’t seem to have any awareness of stock control and even less care about their customers. I’m highly suspicious of any company who does not issue immediate refunds when they let you down too, if they are so desperate to hold on to your cash it’s a red flag. Something seemed off with the way this whole transaction was managed. Use at your peril you have been warned, they are unreliable.

Great meat, but a total collapse in logistics and communication.
We have used Farmison in the past because the quality of the meat is fantastic—the King Arthur Beef we eventually received for this Christmas was no exception. However, the experience surrounding our holiday order was so stressful and poorly managed that we will not be using them again.
We placed an order in mid-October, specifically selecting a delivery date of Saturday, 20th December. That day came and went with zero communication from Farmison or their stated courier (DPD). With Christmas days away and their phone lines closed over the weekend, we had no choice but to head to a supermarket to buy a backup meal to ensure we weren’t left with nothing on the table.
The order finally arrived on the 22nd, two days late, via a different courier (FedEx) and branded as "Donald Russell." We later discovered they are now the same company, but this was never communicated to us. To make matters worse, a key item was missing from the box with no note or explanation included.
It took a full week to get a response to my email inquiry. While they eventually apologized and refunded the missing item (stating it was out of stock when packed), the total lack of proactive communication is what caused the issue. Had they emailed us in advance to warn of delays or stock shortages, we could have planned accordingly.
It’s disappointing to see a company that still advertises "Online Butcher of the Year" awards from 2016-2020 struggle so significantly with basic 2025 logistics. A quick look at recent reviews shows many others in the same boat. If you value reliability and communication—especially at Christmas—I would look elsewhere.

Very dissatisfied with my experience with organisation in your company. I fully understand that it’s a very busy period for delivery of products but the way my delivery was dealt with was unacceptable and spoilt our new year plans.
I shall not be using your company again and please remove me from your mailing list.

They left out the pork that cost 68. I raised with PayPal and they have offered 57.80. Insult to injury. Obviously coming from the idiots at Donald Russell. They are doing their best to destroy what was once a loyal customer base. Idiotic way of running a business. The CEO of Donald Russell should be sacked. Guy is obviously out of his depth.

As others have said. We’ve used them with no issues for several years. But no more they have let us down with a large delivery for Christmas.
Very poor service !
Part order cancelled due to supply difficulties . Rang customer services to order replacement beef , told would use my recorded card to place order and it would be sent on the same day as my existing order of the 23rd . Received message on the 22nd to say my order would not arrive until the 24th . This meant I was unable to pick my family up from the airport . Goose arrived , but was not fully cold and pork was well packaged and cold , No Beef !! Rang customer service , on hold for 45 minutes each time , was told Gemma would ring me back . No return call , no beef . Rang back , they closed at 12pm wothout contacting me !!! I have sent several emails since but no resolution or apology !! Will not use them again !!
Christmas turkey didn't turn up - ordered in OCTOBER!

Ordered a turkey plus stuffing, pig in blanket, etc in October for delivery at Christmas.
Had an email on the day it was due to be delivered (23rd December) to say it wouldn't be with us till 24th before 12:00pm.
Farmison didn't pay for the pre-12 delivery from FedEx (even though this was mentioned in the email!!) and therefore delivery didn't turn up. (Even though FedEx said it was delivered)...
Have tried to be in contact since with no replies to the email/WhatsApp/social media accounts.
Out of pocket by over £100 and a ruined Christmas dinner.

Sadly this is not a good review. We have given the company ample time to respond and this is not a knee jerk reaction to that failure to communicate with us.
Part of our Christmas order, which was placed in October, was left out and despite me explaining the whole issue, with details of the missing item, we received an email asking what was missing.
Our order was delivered on the 23rd Dec and despite my expedient email we have since had no resolution.
We had guests and were unable to source the rest of our meat menu in time for Christmas Day.
Avoid Farmison - they’re not the company they once were
I’ve used Farmison for quite a few years. The quality of their food was excellent and service very good. Things have gotten dramatically worse since the Donald Russell takeover. For my 2025 Christmas order, 50% of items ordered either weren’t delivered or were replaced with cheaper items. Farmison didn’t inform me of this in advance, and I’ve had to pursue refunds.
I’m genuinely saddened by the demise of Farmison, and won’t be using them again.
Memorable occasion
Ordered 2 x classic beef contre filet roasting joints which arrived on Christmas Eve. We hosted all the family on boxing day (16 0f us including 5 children ) and I must say we were all well impressed with the quality of the meat, including all of the children who by the time we get to the main(4th) course are usually more interested in moving swiftly on to dessert. Not this time. Exceptional quality. Thankyou Farmison.
Late dispatch, poor packaging, perished meat, overwhelmed customer service
Loyal Farmison customer for years, but sadly no more.
Two Christmas orders placed in October.
First had missing item, notified by Farmison in mid December. Not ideal, but not dire. Except... still waiting on a refund for missing item.
Second order wasn't dispatched until day it was meant to be delivered - two days before Christmas party. FedEx took 4 days to deliver - missed party. When it arrived, we were shocked at how poorly order was packed - a whole leg of ham in a cardboard box with a bit of bubble wrap loose around it, and a single ice block, which was fully melted. Core temperature of meat was above UK Food Standards Agency legal levels, vacuum pack was bulging, sulphurous smell. Straight in the bin. Had to chase customer service and argue for a refund. Still waiting on said refund.
This is the second review I've written for the two orders I had issues with at Christmas - the first was removed - but I saw no breach of Trust Pilot guidelines, so I'm left stumped as to why. But it's clear from all the other reviews that Farmison have gone downhill recently, and that the only change that most of us customers can see is that it was since they were bought out by Donald Russell - the company that shipped my Christmas orders, and is thus also responsible.
Ordered 4 beef wellingtons and pork…
Ordered 4 beef wellingtons and pork belly at a total of £200 a few weeks before Christmas, to be delivered the 22nd. Waited in 8-8 as no delivery time given. The order did not turn up. Spent the following day continuously phoning, eventually got through and they assured me the delivery would be here Christmas Eve. Tried calling them by late afternoon and the phone lines were dead. I’ve received no communication and spent Christmas Eve out looking for meat.
Extremely disappointed and would never use this company again. Phone lines are off and I guess I have to spend hours on the phone again chasing my refund.. If we get it

Dispatched after delivery date, meaning product arrived late and had to source replacement despite leaving 3 days buffer. Real shame and will not use again as not what it used to be.
Avoid, they are incapable of managing stock and try to keep your money
Ordered Christmas Pork Rib and accompanying products, two and a half months in advance to arrive on the 23rd December. We got a message to say it was running late and would arrive Christmas Eve. The delivery did arrive we opened it up to find we didn’t receive our order but a rolled pork belly. So basically a £30 product instead of £75 , no warning, and when we emailed to follow up they advised it wasn’t a packing error they are simply incapable of managing their stock. When Farmison don’t have a pre ordered (for months) product they don’t tell you, they bung any old slab of meat in a box, and really don’t care that they’ve let you down. They confirmed they didn’t have our preordered item and substituted for whatever they had and the price difference they kept in their account for us to use as credit on a next order. This unreliable cheeky outfit doesn’t apologise in advance nor does it see fit to reimburse the customers it’s so badly lets down. We have requested that the money is refunded. So they didn’t say here’s something complimentary for letting you down, no the money is simply the price difference for what we pre ordered v’s what they sent and we absolutely did not want, and they also let us down on delivery they made it too late for us to source Christmas Day meat elsewhere. Absolute shower of you know what. It’s incompetence at best, what is the point of ordering for any occasion from them. I’d like to say it was the first time, it isn’t, this was my husbands order , he decided to forgive them after they let me down with the exact same issue (lack of stock and kept my money) earlier this year, we hoped they’d be more diligent at Christmas, but frankly they don’t care one jot. If you order from they it’s pot luck, it really is a d the more loyal I was the worse it got. I was spending hundreds with them , but they never tell you at the time of packing an order that they don’t have your goods, their supply chain management and stock control is an absolute joke and they try to hold you to ransom by not issuing price difference refunds. They w WILL respond saying it’s not their normal practice not to let you know, it’s a lie it is. No compensatory consideration ever given for letting people down which makes me think it’s business strategy to get rid of stock abc still hold money . Avoid , they WILL let you down, they WILL send poor substitutions they WILL NOT care and they WILL try to hang on to your money. Never again. Happy Christmas, you are not doing the farmers any favours here and should be ashamed to be so utterly barefaced at this repeated practice.
They send mouldy food
After a delay in postage, useless FedEx deliver man and reading other reviews, we thought we were the lucky ones when the delivery did turned up. Most of our food arrived, what was missing was replaceable.
My wife opened the fridge this morning and the turkey parcels looked like they were about to explode. We pop the bags and they're all slimy and smelly. My kitchen smells and we don't have the main on our Christmas table and nowhere to get anything. We have family coming over in a few hours and we now have to beg, steal and borrow. Food from guests and neighbors.
Edit: Looks like they aren't giving refunds, it's has been 3 weeks and nothing.
They have also Deleted there Google reviews account. And trying to delete reviews on Trust pilot
Unacceptable Service
Ordered a turkey and other items in early November. Two days before Christmas the delivery arrived without the turkey and with no explanation.
After being cut off twice while trying to reach customer service, I eventually got through and was told “sorry, it appears we forgot to pack it.” No warning, no solution, and no chance to replace a missing turkey so close to Christmas.
Completely unacceptable service.

I placed two separate Christmas orders in October ; having previously been a loyal Farmison customer who valued their previous quality and service . Whilst Farmison are still proudly clinging onto and referencing their historical prize winning awards on their website and in their communications it is clear that those awards would not be awarded now and their historical legacy of quality and delivery of excellence is being trashed in real time by the current company leadership . We are witnessing a corporate car crash occurring in the company in real time which is impacting on many previously loyal and new customers negatively ! The number of negative reviews demonstrates this !
For me , I have experienced cancelled items , missing items and delayed delivery in my Christmas orders . I have experienced conflicting courier communications , poor and non existent customer services , uncertainty and have lost all confidence in the brand ! My previous experience of DPD as couriers was positive . The product and brand now offered is no longer in its prime ! It has become necrotic ! The FedEx experience and outsourcing / overview from Donald Russell in Aberdeen would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious , systemically damaging and causing misery , frustration , inconvenience and additional costs to so many customers .
I am sure there are some employees who are saddened by what they see happening and there are many customers who are attempting to contact customer services genuinely seeking info and updates who must feel the same . However I fear that under the current leadership and spiralling failures they are urinating up hill in a Force 10 Gale ! Warmest wishes to all others reading this who have experienced such appalling service this festive season and who , like me , have had their plans and arrangements negatively impacted !
Avoid at all costs!! A lost loyal customer
Our complaint is like so many on here! We have used this company for many years throughout the year and at Christmas time and never needed for calls to complain, however something has drastically changed with this company since it was brought out by Donald Russell.
Our order arrived late, and when unpacking we realised items were missing including the large nidderdale pig in blanket. Emailed customer service services directly from the page, also emailed from the website and spent two days calling the company. Eventually when someone did answer the phone a lady on the end said she worked for Donald Russell, so would not be able to help us except for tracking orders, I questioned, didn’t you buy? Farmisons out? So therefore it’s your company only to be told that yes we did buy them out, however we operate independently!
We will never use this company again, we have had generic responses back from customer services acknowledging our emails, we have spent hours on the phone getting cut off every 15 minutes telling us to call back later, this is the worst customer service services we’ve ever experienced, and a loyal customer has been lost forever. Will now seek to get a refund and will urge everyone and anyone never to use this company again. R.I.P farmisons , you do not deserve to stay in business for treating clearly so many customers this way.
