It was easy and when I did it the 2nd time it went perfectly. However, I did get waylaid by Pr@world-linesolutions and paid them by accident. I have asked for a refund from them.

An absolute nightmare
An absolute nightmare. I have established that I have an ongoing DBS enhanced and valid but thought I was registered for the online service, but appears not! Stupidly cannot find the DBS certificate. Umpteen calls later I have to reapply as cannot have a replacement certificate. A nightmare.

We are sorry to hear you experienced difficulty in registering for the Update Service.
Unfortunately, this is not a service we provide and can only be provided by the Disclosure and Barring Service themselves.
The DBS do have requirements which need to be met before you can register onto the Update Service. One of these being you need to register within 30 days from the date your certificate is dispatched.
Unfortunately, if the window is missed to register, a new application has to be made.
If you would like to reapply, please contact our support team at enquiries@dbscheckonline.org.uk and we will get this process started for you.

Basic Disclosure check
Basic Disclosure check. I have just completed this online, it was much more expensive than I assumed DBS checks are, at £84 when GOV.UK advertises at £18. Not aware of this cost until then end of the process.
I am concerned now as I have received no email confirmations at all, despite completing the process.

No reference to the cost involved using…
No reference to the cost involved using this site. DBS cost £21.50 on actual GOV website, but this website charged £120.
At no stage was the cost shown/broken down or required to be confirmed prior to submission. First indication of actual cost was a confirmation email.
The fees are buried at the end of the home page on a separate link, not exactly user friendly not do I believe any actual direct human service is provided.
Follow up is being made with the company (no response yet), the bank and regulatory bodies plus media services.
There is no need for this service to exist.

We are not the Government and do not claim to be. We provide a paid support service, which includes application assistance, identity guidance, document checking, customer support, and status updates throughout the process. Our pricing reflects the full support package we offer, not just the government fee for the certificate itself.
Our fees are displayed on the website before an application is submitted, and customers must confirm they understand the cost before proceeding. We appreciate that some people prefer to apply directly through the Government website, and that option is always available for those who do not require additional support.
Regarding the share code:
Basic DBS checks do not automatically generate a share code. These codes are issued directly by the Disclosure and Barring Service, and only they can provide or reset them. When customers require a share code, we direct them to the correct issuing authority so they can access their certificate securely.
We understand this situation has been frustrating for you, and we would be happy to review your case in full. If you can provide your order number, our team will ensure everything has been handled correctly and offer further support where possible.
