We have had proper insurance for 2 years. They have asked us to complete tasks to make our lane home insurable. We have completed all. Now they want us to block off top dock at lake house(deep water dock). We have to install gate so people won’t jump off. That’s why people have double deckers. People will now just jump over railing or stand on it to jump off. This is so ridiculous. They have now dropped us because we argued that this was very unsafe request. It’s a lake house with dock. People are going to jump off dock into water.

I have a policy for my property, which is both my residence and a rental property when I am not in town. I recently had a major flooding event due to a back up on the city line while I had renters that resulted in over a month of work and lost income. Elizabeth Douma, my adjuster, was incredibly helpful in navigating everything I needed to do both in working with the city insurance company, making clear what my policy did and did not cover, and accounting for home management fees. She was incredibly pleasant to work with - during a very unpleasant experience - and made the process less stressful. This was all during the exact same time she was having to navigate claims from the HI fire and she made sure that my claim did not fall through the cracks. If you have a property and use your property for mixed purposes (both as a home and rental when not using), I cannot recommend Proper enough.

We had a great experience getting home insurance for a new rental property through Proper Insurance, working with Bob Bradley. Bob was very efficient and excellent at explaining everything in layman's terms. We had a tight timeline with our closing and while we were waiting over 2 weeks for other insurance agencies, we were quoted, had all our questions answered and had the right policy selected with Proper within three days working with Bob.

I am a short-term vacation rental host in Florida and have my properties on Captiva Island. When Hurricane Ian hit Florida last September my property was devastated by the storm surge and excessive winds. I reported the damages to my insurance company, Proper Insurance. There was no, or extremely limited access to the island. However, a Proper Adjuster, Chad Martin was able to access my home before most of insurance personnel. I think he took a boat! Chad was knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and compassionate under the worst conditions after the storm. Chad submitted the results of his inspection to Peter Grubbs, also with Proper, who handled the claim through closure. There were many obstacles due to access, supply chain, available contractors, etc. Peter was patient, helpful, and sympathetic to our situation. He made check-in calls constantly and issued payments quickly so we able to get the home repaired before most on the island. Our house is complete now and some other homes around us are still fighting their insurance companies. These men made a terrible situation smooth and painless. I have another property on the island with another insurance company and their service did not compare to the service we received from Chad and Peter of Proper Insurance. I feel like I have gained a couple of friends in Chad and Peter. If you want the best claim experience, insure with Proper.

Recently had a great experience with Proper Insurance, after having a really bad one. But it seems they’ve made some major changes and things are a lot smoother now.

I had some guests throw a party at my property and really got out of hand. I made a claim and my claim adjuster, Chad Martin, was nothing but helpful and thorough through the entire process. We resolved the damages and I’m so grateful.

Ms. Taylor Stults, our agent at Proper Insurance, was great! She helped us navigate a difficult path to insure our farm house in Vermont with very fast, expert, attentive and courteous service.

Our account exec, Bob Bradley had to get our vacation rental insured quickly as closing was happening within a week of our first call to him. He was courteous and efficient and got us a comprehensive proposal within a few days. We just signed with them, we were so impressed.

A tornado destroyed our family vacation cabin May 6th, 2022. Proper Insurance stood by us throughout the process of rebuilding. The quality contractor they referred to us rebuilt our family cabin in about a year. This beat our expected timeframe for such a large project. we had a storm with winds and hail. I contacted my Proper Insurance and was fortunate to get Chad to answer my call. He was so helpful! He quickly and efficiently walked me through the process to file a claim, get inspection and new roof completed in a prompt, professional manner. Chad was great with follow up for everything! I was very excited to find this company. They were responsive and came up with a policy that was very good. I was assured - beyond any shadow of a doubt - by my agent, Dayne, that coverage was locked in, that he had done all of the necessary research, and that I would be just fine in cancelling my current insurance the same day I bonded with Proper. So...I cancelled the insurance that I had. A few days later, I was contacted by Dayne and told that the underwriters would not approve the policy. Many email conversations ensued with Dayne avoiding my phone calls until I asked to speak to his supervisor. At that time, Dayne suddenly became available to speak to me. He promised to contact another company, promised to get back to me within a day - and then I never heard from him again. This has obviously left me in a very bad position. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I cannot recommend agent Jessica Hays highly enough! She is a pleasure to work with -- knowledgeable, pleasant, efficient and responsive. Her friendliness and professionalism turned what is usually a tedious process into an easy and stress-free experience. I am new at STVR and when I found out that my normal insurance company could not cover vacation rentals, I shopped around quite a bit before finding Proper, so I know how unusual it is to get such competent personal attention, let alone to have an assigned agent that can be contacted directly and always responds within minutes. Proper insurance sent me Proof of Insurance within a day, and has since guided me in getting the property in perfect shape for short term rentals. While I hope to never have to file a claim, my experience so far, and other reviewer’s comments regarding Proper's quick, friendly and fair response, set my mind at ease.
