Number One Car & Van Hire Recensioni 

I recently hired a van from Number One Van Hire over a couple of days to move my Dad's belongings from Wallington to his new home in the Westcountry.
I wanted to say thank you to your team for making the process very easy and for supplying such a great vehicle. It was perfect for the job, easy and economical to drive and its specification and size ideal for what we needed to do. The booking arrangements were easy and efficiently handled as was the pick up and return.

Efficient service, easy to book weekend hire, clean van and no rush in checking over everything. Used before and will if needed again.

Have used this company a couple of times now and no complaints or problems. Vans have been ready for collection as arranged and returns are easy and quick without any issues. Staff are always helpful and friendly and no deposit required is a bonus. I will use again and again and highly recommend.

Overall, good experience in terms of the vehicle - top notch condition, modern and easy to drive. Process to hire was straightforward and very good value in terms of prices.

Development points/negatives are around customer care:
Do not send you any email confirmation or guidance where to go for pickup and drop-off/return after booking on phone (more concerningly, I fed this back to lady on desk and she did not see any value in it!)
Experienced spoilt slightly by same lady telling me on phone van needed to be back for same time as pickup (just after 10am), then telling me it was 9.30am upon pick-up, then where I arrive same time as pick-up (later than planned due to Monday morning traffic), staff are abrupt and rush me because they had foolishly booked the same vehicle to go to another customer waiting to take it overseas on a ferry the same morning! With other identical vehicles parked in the forecourt, the above suggests poor organisation and customer care. For the above alone, they lose 1-2 stars unfortunately - but, hopefully they take this feedback on board to improve in future.

Again you seem to push back rather than actually listen or take on board customer feedback (how disappointing).

What you have written below is not correct or accurate (I called to enquire about a hire, then called back to actually make/go ahead with the booking. No times were changed and this situation was not fully explained at all re another booking being taken for a customer travelling overseas!

Arranging a vehicle due for return at 9.30am on a Monday morning for a customer arriving at 10am (particularly where you haven't followed up with any emails, or given the customer something with your address on) is naive at best and more concerningly, you still seem to have missed the point - I should not have been hired-out the vehicle already booked overseas in the first place! (Or vice-versa). There should be a window in-between customers to allow for drop-off (at least 1/2 day I would suggest), to pre-empt any delays, resolve any issues/discrepencies, and to prepare for next customer. This goes for any kind of booking and has nothing to do with my experience of van hires! (Although, for your information, I am well aware of the procedure to book a vehicle to go on a ferry). Placing and relying an entire customer's experience on another customer, is from my experience, a recipe for disaster.

Additional point: you did not tell me this re. confirmation emails when we met (in fact, when I raised it, you expressed there was no need because a customer will have paid over phone!). It should never be a request only - this is standard good practice and courtesy to give your business trust and credibility! Think about it - would you be happy paying £160 over the phone to a complete stranger, only to see no kind confirmation by email or text?

Other reviews are not relevant as every customer's feedback should be important to you, but in looking, you actually have a lot of 4 star reviews (some lower). If you want your service to improve and be the best, I would "politely suggest" you start taking customer feedback like this on board (particularly where you ask for it).

*Purely because of your response, I feel it appropriate to reduce feedback score down to 3 stars.

All the team, from Michelle at reception to Moses at vehicle prep. made the process simple. What's more there's no mileage charge, nor deposit taken – so if you need to take a detour that's fine and you're not left short in the wallet either. Although the transit van did have some historic dings, it was presented cleanly and smelled fresh. It was trouble free for the 500 miles+ round trip we did to collect our son from University. We'd use them again and highly recommend them.
