This company are absolutely hopeless and borderline scammers. If you are stupid enough to use them inspect and photograph every square centimetre of the vehicle. We drove a van 10 miles from one secure driveway to another secure driveway and miraculously they claim the windscreen was damaged during this time. We will be taking legal action but in the meantime I advise you avoid this company like the plague. £800 for three days hire, absolutely scandalous

Fantastic product and service; same day car hire booked when our car was stuck being repaired and car dropped off at our house within a few hours! Car was exactly as specified, clean and person dropping it off was professional, polite and quick. When returning the car, left keys in a safe place and the car was collected with no interaction at all - exactly as we required. Price was also good; lower than the main hire companies and with the drop off and collection service. 100% would use again and highly recommend them.

Hired 17 seater (mini bus), transaction is very smooth and straight forward. I would suggest to please improve on collection time, it took 3 days waiting and put on us the liablity of the bus while in fact our hire has already ended.

Process was very easy, delivery and collection was effortless and on time. Vehicle was in great condition and delivery staff were friendly and helpful.

The vans we have had have always been good and reliable!

I hired a van and was happy with the actual hire period. The problem started when they came to collect the van on the 13th Dec 2025 as they couldn't get it started. The next day they still couldn't start it and said they would be back with a new battery - they didn't and it's still on my driveway on the 4th Jan 2026. I've phone and emailed many time but still not collection. I sent them a strongly worded legal document last week but no response. Short of having the van towed away I don't know how to get through to this company!!!!

Hired it for a short distance house move. Delivered to us on time with a very cheerful driver. Useful van for two shortish distances.
Would have been 5 stars but the van was in our way for over 2 days before being collected. To fair we were warned it might not be collected straight away but it was a pain

This company is appalling and their customer service is shocking! I have been emailing and phoning since November after they delivered a Luton van with a rip in canvas roof?! The damage was covered with duct tape and after days of heavy rain during house move, my dining chairs were water stained.
I emailed Marcelle numerous times and supplied photos of van and chairs as she requested but I’m still waiting for someone to resolve this complaint in January 2026!
I spoke with Kieran this afternoon who hung up on me as I was explaining my frustration with this scam company!!!
Please do not hire from them. I should have read the negative reviews!!! Go with a reputable company but not Nationwide!!!!

Van was delivered on time by a helpful driver (reversed it into a space for me). Van was a 71 plate and clean/good condition. The only issue was they didn’t collect it the same day but I hadn’t read the T&C’s properly so my error, would have been fine if I had known. Very happy with the company.

Excellent service. Costs a little more than expected but still very reasonable and still a lot less than hiring removals. Hassle free booking and transaction. Truck was dropped off a day early which allowed me another day to move house at no extra cost. Used Nationwide hire twice and will 100% use again.

Avoid using this company. I don’t ever write reviews, especially bad ones but I’m still incensed by my experience.
Look elsewhere for your needs or protect yourselves by using debit cards you do not frequently use and have no overdraft facility.

The reason: I used the company to hire a Luton van for a house move. The van was delivered too early (no keys actually dropped in mailbox) and they hassled me at least an hour early to pick up too (note, this was at approx 7am). Prior to returning the vehicle, the left wing mirror fell loose so it had to be repaired. They took the money for the repair without my authorisation, knowing full well that I was contesting the amount and this is on record in emails. They charged double admin fee for the repair, which amounted to significantly higher cost than the repair itself (again, the latter overcharged in my view). In complaining, they couldn’t care less and continued to assert they were in the right.

Not honest or customer friendly in my view. They apply tactics of questionable legality. The number of negative reviews is telling - so please read these first and make a well informed decision.

I had a delivery I had to make and realised my truck wasn't big enough and I needed a transit van in a hurry. We looked online and found nationwide hire UK and booked a van, the service has been exceptional. Both Gary and Marcelle have both responded to emails almost instantly with any questions I had. The van was delivered a day early so we were able to keep it on site ready for the morning when I headed off which made loading a lot easier. I would highly highly recommend this service if you need a transit van and I'll be definitely returning. Should I need them again.

Awful experience. Company delivered the van to the wrong location without informing anyone. Only when I contacted company after my delivery time that it was found where it was. Once found it was the wrong size van. I ordered and paid for a swb transit for a specific job, was given a lwb 3.5 tonne van that was no good to me and I couldn't use. Communication on day was terrible. Phoned the company 3 times on the next working day to try and discuss a refund. Was told each time they would phone me back which they never did. On 4th try at 4.40pm I was told all customer service staff had gone home for Christmas and wouldn't be back in now. Person on phone was obnoxious and rude. Shocking customer service all around and still no response or resolution despite clearly not recieving the service I booked and paid for. I am having to go though my bank now to try and get a response

Avoid at all costs. If you are forced to use, do not ever allow them to collect the vehicle without you being present. Take timestamped photos of everything. We have been invoiced for fuel despite filling before collection .

Hired a mini bus which arrived at same time as we had booked. The mini bus was under a year old, it was automatic as we had booked and was reasonably priced. It was perfect for what we wanted which was to ferry guest for a wedding around. The whole experience was smooth and unstressful.

Easy booking, van delivered early, easy collection. It was exactly what I needed and hassle-free from start to finish. Would use again.

If you like to retain your hard earned money, avoid these scam artists.

If you have already hired from this company, block your card or illegal charges will be taken after your rental. Chargeback any additional money taken from your bank, as it is done without foundation and against their terms and conditions and rental agreements.

No one at the “company” will respond to you for anything except trying to collect money.

The vehicle we hired was in a no-fault accident where some damage was sustained. On reporting this to the company their response was “this is a disaster”, no pleasantries or queries if the occupants were ok. The full excess was paid as requested and per the terms and conditions on their website and the signed rental agreement, the renter obligation was over.

Or so we thought. The company then took hundreds of pounds from my bank account without notifying or getting consent to do so. This was supposedly for 3 days extra rental while the vehicle was being recovered, which obviously was nothing to do with us. Thankfully, the bank agreed this was illegally taken and returned the money via chargeback. I then froze the bank account, and I’m glad I did, or ridiculous sums would have been taken.

Fast-forward 4-5 months and the company then sent an invoice for the full cost of the vehicle (in the tens of thousands) that was in the accident. Which is especially fraudulent seeing as the vehicle was insured and taxed at a date after the accident. As the rental obligations had been fulfilled through paying the excess, obviously this charge was disputed. In much of the same way as other reviews on here, the only thing they replied with was to the effect of “pay us or else”.

The charge was formally disputed as it was completely outrageous and against all terms and conditions agreed to. The company stated the driver was “at fault due to negligence”, which was disregarded by the police at the scene and to which they refused to provide any evidence.

They went quiet. As they had no foot to stand on, we believed this the end of the story. But no. Today, 2 years on from our last correspondence, they have emailed the same invoice over.

All to say. Avoid this company. Save yourself the hassle. Only hire from BVRLA registered hire companies who won’t scam you!

Hired the van for tomorrow for 9.30. Get a call today at 1pm while at work from driver wanting to deliver the van. They are 20 hours too early. I explicitly told the driver I did not want the van today but he dumped the van outside the house and in the way of the road. So the refuse collection vehicle that comes in the morning will have a hard time to get past.
Got fobbed off when I called this evening to complain stating they deliver early when busy. At no time was I notified of this - I would have cancelled had I known.
Yes my tone showed my frustration but all I got in return was "well what am I supposed to do".
If I could cancel I would.
Clearly they don't care about the customer and don't really care once they've got the money.
Got a call back stating the "deliver early option" is in their terms and conditions. - which again is a cop-out. Yet at no time was I notified of this.
Just checked the Ts&Cs and this is the line "In some instances, the branch may request to pre-deliver the vehicle to ensure it will be ready for the requested time of hire." But it states "may request" - meaning they should be contacting me to request to pre-deliver it. Which they did not. The Ts&Cs also state posting the keys through the letterbox - which they did not do.
So they've enforced the terms & conditions to suit them, but broken their own terms & conditions to also suit them.
Poor poor service and I will never use them again
