Mis-sold my parents a trust and didn't even register my brother as a power of attorney with The Office of the Public Guardian back in 2019! Took over £5,000 from my parents and didn't do anything they asked correctly. Now in 2023 I'm having to help them start over from scratch and redo their wills and power of attorney with another firm due to my mother being in hospital... Can't even claim any money back due to them going into administration. New firm that have taken over their clients aren't much better and seem just as greedy wanting over £800 to "double check" everything... Apparently there's a lawyer from McClure's still practicing but I can only hope they're disbarred soon so they don't do this to anyone else.

These guys took over the undertakings of a failed outfit in Glasgow. Tried to monetise everything we wanted from them regarding dissolution of a family trust. Poor communication, slow to act, incompetent.

I had a will drawn up by McClure Solicitors in 2019, and they held the original. I have just become aware that the company went into administration in 2021 - yet I received no notification from them! Where is my will now?

We had family protection trusts that went to jones whyte..had to pay them under duress to get things changed as we did not trust or like them as totally umprofessional. Got work done then complained to law society who contacted them and got all money refunded.
Now getting scottish legal complaints to investigate as seems very funny to us that the 2 companies had dealings for years so must have known what was going on and then took all partners on even tnough they ran a failed company and then immediately cancelled all promised ongoing work yhat had been paid for without any refund. Seems very funny. Suggest anyone in same position does what we are doing so make people think. Lets all get together on this.

If I could have given this firm a zero scoring I would have. Due to this firm’s lack of care my sister and I were put under enormous stress, at what was already an extremely difficult time. The only time I felt that someone listened to us was when I asked to go right to the top - even then, that just turned out to be paying lip service. Some younger members of staff were so very pleasant and capable but, unfortunately, every one of them left the firm while dealing with our case - not that McLure’s let us know. I actually rue the day I accepted a pamphlet handed to me with what services McLure’s provided.

Well my mother set up a trust with mclures in 2011 they did all the paperwork through mansion house planning which i suspect was the sales dept meaning that they were more interested in selling products that the legal side of their business as its an easy cash cow. Fast forward to 2020 and my mother reqiured care so as they instructed phone them well the service i got was shocking . To cut a long story short ovet a period of 7 months i was given the runaround until i found ouy the company had gone bust. The worst was yet to come when told to find myself another solicitor which i did they then told me that every scottish council has the power to hold you to ransom with your trust ie they wont pay any care costs until you have depleted funds from the trust. The upshot is that setting up a family protection trust is a wasteo time and money in other words a con so beware if you find yourself in a similar position .

T Ruth ….. please send your notes onto the law society , both solictors are part of a dubious action compounded by another company Golden Charter who used them to run bereavement packages with trustees when trustees are not needed …..Mr Andrew Robertson is the main trustee for all of them and is liable for all of the costs , service charges etc …if they continued with Mc Clure cases they would also go into administration as retirement flats are not selling due to covid and the biggest loss of life has come from over 70s ….nobody should seek another solictor until they sell their property and then jones whyte still remain liable for the charges ….under the law , appointed trustees remain liable unless you agree to remove them , hence they want you to find another solicitor …. Keep at all three of them , they were greedy and covid caught them out , now they want the bereaved families to cover their costs …don’t let them

A shameful way in which to run a business, allowing a disgraced former member of staff to be a trustee on many family trusts and holding them to ransom. Now we are in a position of being homeless due to the fact that a property, part of a family trust cannot be sold because this company is unable to transfer the ownership. I can see perfectly well why this company's downfall happened. Disgusted

An 11 year nightmare trying to deal with this firm. My mother set up a Family Trust through the Leeds (and Holbeck) Building Society. The Leeds Building Society say they cannot help me yet it was through their Financial Advisors that my Mother was encouraged to set up a Family Trust and invest her money. McClures has gone into administration and although I have contacted Jones Whyte I have had no response. I’m not sure what to do next in order to access my investment.

I was very satisfied with McClures services, then I heard that they had been taken over by Jones Whyte.
This relatiely young law firm assures McClures customers that and I quote “The arrangements being put into place should ensure a smooth transfer, with as little disruption to clients as possible. We will work with both firms and provide advice and any support that our members may need.”
Always happy to support up and coming companies and I am awaiting their reply on a very basic resiliation of a family protection trust with no complications - a piece of cake one would think for such a promising law company.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech I see trustpilot took down my brother's review of mcclures and the Scottish Law Society and I thought we lived in a democratic Society shame on you trustpilot

Avoid this company at all costs , they are so incompetent on all levels , never answer calls or emails , then we find out this incompetent company have gone into administration & no deceny in letting their clients no about this . My brother & I have fought with McClure for 11& a half months to release my dads property from their shoddy trust . We ended dealing with this ourselves via our own solicitor & finally today have the property back into our hands , we also had to resource funds ourselves to complete this even thou McClure says they would fully fund it . Avoid at all costs . Cowboys of the highest degree .

Now gone away. McClures handled a trust for my mother, which included a house. They failed to check the boundaries when putting the house on the land register and now we have been year fighting HMLR to fix the problem. Then they went into administration, were bought by Jones Whyte, and despite their assurances that my case would continue to be handled, they then suddenly dropped me and told me to find a new solicitor. Jones Whyte seem worse as you can never talk to anyone there, people are always unavailable, and they never call or email back.

This solicitor is dealing with my father in laws trust and we are in the process of withdrawing money from it.

The first member of staff we dealt with left the company only to find out she had left when the email was undelivered. The case was then passed to another member of staff who we also only found out left the company when the email was undelivered.

Since then we have been phoning on a regular basis to ask for updates. Our details are taken by reception / switchboard staff who say someone will call us back but so far noone has had the courtesy to call us back with an update or even an acknowledgement that they are aware we are calling even if there is no update. This request has now become urgent given the inaction of this company.

We last managed to speak to a staff member 2 weeks ago who advised the case was with their manager however have had no update since despite repeated calls.

I called this morning and asked for details for their complaints department as I am now wishing to submit a written complaint however the reception staff advised me they did not have details for their complaints department and would pass on my frustrations and contact details and get someone to contact me. Unknown how she will contact them seeing as she apparently did not have details. I also asked what regulatory body they are governed by however she was unable to tell me the answer to this.

To sum up the lack of communication from this company is absolutely astounding. I appreciated they have been taken over by Jones Whyte however surely some staff members from McClures were retained and handovers on clients were given so how it is impossible for them to continue to provide such a shocking services baffles me.

As I have absolutely no confidence in receiving even a basic courtesy call or a call from their complaints department (if such a department exists) I will be putting my complaint in writing to the company and if this is not dealt with I will be reporting them to their regulatory body.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Avoid this company at all costs. Never no correspondence from them. They don't mind taking money but don't like to pay out. Or even keep you updated. If they had told me mcclures had gone under I could of had the option to change solicitors. Made a hard situation even harder

I have been ringing mclures for 2 weeks no o e has got bsck to me, ive just saw on here theyve gone into admin, what will japoen to my uncles estate

Service drops after you pay
At first they were friendly, very professional and they answered all of our queries. The solicitor was lovely whilst trying to sort out my uncles power of attorney. We were forewarned that it would take 20 weeks to get through the system once they sent it off. This is outside of Thier control.

After we'd made payment though the service dropped through. 6 months later it still hasn't actually been sent (or at least there's no confirmation of this). For the last few months I've been chasing. Only in the last week has anyone returned any of my endless phone calls and emails. They called from Jones Whyte (Thier new parent company) and said they would chase this up with the relevant team. Since then though the McClure's staff still haven't contacted me. We've had no feedback in months and the job hasn't been done.

I was recommended by age concern to help out my uncle but I wouldn't recommend them with this level of service.

Absolutely appalling company to have to deal with, this is my sellers conveyancing solicitor and with a week to go to proposed move in date they have done next to zero to make the sale go through. I'm now in complete limbo because of their inability to do their job. For any future property sales if this company are involved in anyway I will walk away. The only reason I know anything is through the actual seller themselves.
