My car was booked in for a service and MOT, which I had booked and paid for online. Upon arrival I was advised when the car was expected to be available for collection. I was contacted by phone later advising that there would be a delay, not Halfords fault but due to the MOT database going down nationwide meaning MOT's could not be issued, but when this was resolved they still managed to complete the works on the same day. Before I left, the manager gave me some helpful service advice given the low mileage that the car does in a way which was very useful. Thanks for the tip

I needed my tyres changed asap as I had to travel across the country. I did an online search for suitable tyres, booked an appointment and my tyres were sorted at a very early convenience. I got some online discounts too. Satisfied with the process and workmanship. I will use again.

The car was booked in for an MOT and service. The garage in Maybole Rd Ayr were very pleasant and knowledgeable explaining clearly what the car needed. Very helpful

Very disappointed with the level of trust from your mechanics at Halfords, and how quickly they try to scare female customers into trying to purchase unnecessary and costly work.

I had my MOT done at my garage local to my work on Thursday 17th, which sadly failed due to the tyres, and unfortunately they don’t do tyres at their garage. Due to the timing of the day, I was unable to go to the independent tyre garage down the road from where I got my MOT done, so I had to book my two front tyres to be replaced with Halfords over the weekend.

Whilst I was waiting at your garage on Saturday 19th, one of your mechanics came rushing in to let me know how badly the front break discs and pads were, and how I desperately needed to get these replaced immediately for my own safety, but they couldn’t do it right then as they didn’t have time, but really emphasised that I need to get it booked in with them immediately … at a cost of over £300.

Strange I thought, on how this wasn’t mentioned on my MOT report, the only thing that was flagged regarding my break discs was an advisory for one of the rear discs (and nothing regarding my front discs or pads).
The “photo” evidence that was taken from the report only showed one disc, not the two I “desperately” needed to be replaced, and no clear indication that this photo was from one of the front discs, or a photo taken of the advisory rear break disc to claim it was one of the front discs - or even a break disc from my car at all…

I took my car back to my local garage on Monday 21st for the MOT re-test and mentioned to the mechanics regarding the comments that was made about the front break discs, how dangerous they were and how desperate they needed to be done etc. He pulled a face, also noting that these weren’t listed on my advisories from the initial test, but said he would look into it to help with my peace of mind and to check that the MOT was done reassurance.

Later when I collected the car, with confirmation that it had passed the MOT, and as I guessed - they said that there was nothing wrong with my front break discs or pads, that I had roughly 5,000 miles left on the pads before they needed to be replaced - which is when I should book in for the rear disc to be replaced… not as immediate of a job that your team were implying.

I don’t appreciate your mechanics trying to scaremonger their customers, or specifically lone female customers, tricking them to try and pay for additional work to be done for no reason.

So, when you ask would I recommend Halfords to friends or family, it’s a definite no.
Will I be using Halfords again in the future? Absolutely not.

To anyone who reads this review - Trust the local independent garages -they will look after you, so make sure you go to them instead.

Friendly staff, overall very accommodating

Absolutely shocked at how difficult they have made it to cancel my Motoring Club membership, despite it being 30 days before the renewal date. Their website hides information about cancelling, and when you do find it, it takes you back to a chatbot, then when you try to cancel via that, nobody is available of course. Finally found a cancellation form, where I had to fill in all of my details despite being logged in to my account. They are now deigning to 'revew my request'. I have news for you Halfords - IT IS NOT A REQUEST. I'll never use them again. Appalling.

I took a battery back i bought 4 montgs ago that was had it as soon as i walked in and told them they started making any excuse not to refund 4 excuses until they got to one that worked ,they had nt e mailed me my reciept but had the other 4 batteries i had off them ,never again will i use halfords for anything !!!!

Online booking was easy. Reception was good. Work completed quickly. Garage workshop was clean and tidy.

Absoloyulty horrendous customer service by staff at newport road cardiff today the man and young girl. Whoever interviewd them and gave them the job needs their own job questioned absoloutly disgusting not just me the old man about 80 next yo me was retrning a battry with receipt and she wouldnt except it as it didnt say whhich battry the old man cld jst about stand and the man that served me was rude and patronising avoid everyone in their was moaning i suggest self reflecting on how you want yr buisiness and reputation run

Great service under pressure of staff sickness, stopped to my tyre done, even before booked time

Cheapest local tyre fitting easy to compare prices and book an appointment. Parking is a bit limited for motorhomes when there's a tyre delivery taking place, but everyone parks on double yellows these days!
Staff are easy to find and helpful. Oh, and there's a customer toilet!

I was very happy with my visit, 2 new front tyres, I was advised that the tracking needed to be done, I declined due to lack of funds, but I will make an appointment once paid again.

Unable to book at our usual Halfords Autocentre which is excellent. so booked vehicle at the Hadleigh Autocentre. Recieved poor customer service. It was a shame the Halfords Autocentres are not consistent. I will avoid using this Autocentre in the future.

Booked in for an 8.30am slot, only to receive my car at 4.40pm. What is the point in booking slots if you have to wait the whole day anyways? I had to go to the shop to get an update as I wasn't provided any. Arrived for the update, only to be told they didn't have a part and a technician had gone to fetch one meaning I had to wait another 1.5hrs. Got the vehicle report and was advised the cambelt needs replacing, even though this was replaced in September 2025.
Pay the membership fee to get the discount but it's not worth it given the service.

Applied online and booked in for 08:30am. Great..... so I thought! Parked vehicle in car park and walked in to be greeted by a man with balding head and glasses moaning to someone about a customer. Not a great start 😕 then I spoke about my van and he interrupted me to answer the phone... another rude gesture.... eventually I manged to speak and told him booked in to drop van off for puncture repair, he replied not to say you're not. I explained i booked yesterday and travelled quite a distance for the repair and he said not bothered and ranting about his knee sore, ribs and other things. It got quite heated when I asked him to cancel and then the abuse started. Words exchanges after he threatened to hit me, told me to watch myself and van. Tried contacting Halfords by phone but no luck! I am cancelling my motoring club and vow never to buy anything from Halfords again. Very unprofessional staff they employ, cheeky, arrogant and aggressive. I'll take my business elsewhere. I am awaiting refund, if not then I'll seek legal advice.
