No phone number and the most stupid AI…

No phone number and the most stupid AI response to an question I’ve ever seen.

But fair play, when I did reply to the ai response via email they did come back with a product that will hopefully suit my requirements.

Very trustworth company

Good quality kit but the reason I am reviewing is that they accidentally sent some units that were the wrong colour temp. I didn't notice until after installation and after I had disposed of all the packaging. They immediately accepted the error and shipped new units to replace the next day.

Great service! I purchased around 15 lights and emailed about one being faulty and it was replaced within 3 days!

Lights fine, delivery not so good

I ordered eight bulbs. These were fine, although of course it is impossible to say yet how well they will last. I was not happy with the courier, FedEx. The delivery was scheduled for an inconvenient day. With Evri, Royal Mail, or Amazon I can change the delivery to a pickup point either within walking distance or, at most, a couple of miles away, and I expected to do the same this time. FedEx's nearest pickup point, though, was about ten miles away - not worth travelling for a few light bulbs. When the package arrived, there was a large dent in it, despite its being clearly marked "fragile" in several places (the bulbs were undamaged, as far as I know). The delivery window was very wide - 08:30 - 12:30. I wasn't there to receive the delivery (although someone else needed to sign for it). I expected to be notified that the package had been delivered, but this did not happen.

Thanks for the review and I'm sorry to hear the couriers have failed in this instance. We use DPD for any delivery from our warehouse, however in some instances we will ship orders direct from the manufacturer if we have no stock here. Some of our manufacturers will use other couriers, unfortunately some of these won't offer the 1 hour timeslot I'm afraid. A complaint has been raised about the state of the package.

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking service. I took a next day delivery, never received tracking, never received product, I keep calling them daily promised refund that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon. Fraud ans time wasters

Thanks for your review and apologies for the delay in response. We don't actively use Trustpilot, so we don't seem to be getting notifications when a review is received.

It was myself who dealt with you on this order at the time and I understand there were delays in despatch from Aurora for which we can only apologise. They did tell us at the time they attempted delivery when you chased the 2nd/3rd time, however this was disputed by yourself. Once you asked to cancel the order due to the delays, the refund was done immediately at our end, although this can take a couple of times to land in your account.

We dispute you referring to us as frauds, we did everything we could in our power to get this order out on time for you. If you look at our other review page linked to our website you will see we have a high rating from a high number of reviews. This is the site we send a link to by email once an order is complete. 99% of orders go wtihout a hitch, however on this one it seems there have been some delays in despatch.

I ordered 3 x 2 gang Hamilton Hartland…

I ordered 3 x 2 gang Hamilton Hartland sockets on the 18th April 2025. And constant emails over 8 and still no sign of my sockets despite excuses and promises.
Absolute waste of time I will never use or recommend this company. Have instigated a charge back through my banking app.

Best in the business for lighting & electrical

Brilliant service, staff very good and knowledgeable and help in any way they can. Service is second to none. And the products I have bought, have been very efficient and long lasting. Do not make the mistake of buying cheaper alternatives online. Prices are reasonable but most importantly products are built to last.

Is this even a legitimate company or is it just a front for scamming unsuspecting customers?

I've bought 3 items from this company: 2 were okay, the 3 one was faulty. I got in touch immediately and they advised I should return the faulty item for a replacement.
I returned the item. Since then, it's been 2 painful months of phone calls not getting through, messages not answered, people promising to pass messages on to Matt and nobody getting back to me.
Now Downlights is blaming the manufacturer, the manufacturer is blaming Downlights, and I'm left out of pocket by £200, having paid for a faulty item whose replacement I never received.
Is this even a legitimate company or is it just a front for scamming unsuspecting customers?

Thanks for your review.

I appreciate this has been a long winded process to get the replacement to yourself. As stated in the reply to your previous review, this was left in the hands of Lightwave themselves as they've requested all returns go through themselves.

We have lodged an official complaint with Lightwave due to their handling of the situation. They had told me repeatedly that they had this in hand and was in dialogue with yourself. We have complained about the fact they have been playing the blame game here, they also did similar with us complaining that an item they didn't have in stock, was also out of stock with themselves.

I can assure you we are a legitimate company and we have been chasing them to ensure this was sorted before we responded on here. I know we have spoken a few times on the phone and I have explained the situation with Lightwave to you.

Once again, apologies for your experience with this order. If you do need anything else, please get in touch with me direct and I will ensure we give you a goodwill discount on any future orders.

I urgently needed bezel replacements…

I urgently needed bezel replacements for my spotlight and reached out to Downlights. Oliver responded promptly and asked all the right questions to understand my needs. He proposed a replacement, which I tested, and it turned out to be a perfect match. I then placed a larger order, which was delivered very quickly. Their prices were also very reasonable. Thank you, Oliver, for your excellent service. I highly recommend this company for their outstanding support and value.

Awful service

Numerous emails later, with a threat of county court action, and I still don't have either lights or refund. Absolutely disgusting treatment.

Exceptional service

I have ordered several times from downlights.co.uk and the experience has always been very good. Great quality items at affordable prices with fast dispatch. On my most recent order I made an error with my dispatch address sending the goods to a pickup location . On realising this a few days later I sent an email and literally within minutes I had a response from Oliver who had sorted the error out and confirmed my order was on the way, no fuss no drama - polite, friendly and professional. Well done and thanks to Oliver and all the staff at downlights.co.uk - highly recommended

I’m made an enquiry about a replacement…

I’m made an enquiry about a replacement light shade. Without any hesitation and within 24 hours, I had received the replacement in the post. No charge and no evidence that I had ever purchased the products from this company in the first place. Simply superb, would highly recommend Chris.

Miscommunications and delays

Update:

When my order arrived, the LED strip lights had an incorrect input cable size. Apparently I was supposed to have been asked if I could accept these before they were shipped but there was a miscommunication.

However, I contacted Matthew (the sales manager) and he explained the situation and arranged for replacements to be delivered within 48 hours which arrived on time and were correctly fabricated.

I placed an order on the 29th of January for some LED strip lights, among other things. All the items I ordered were in stock and stated it would take 3-5 days at most. I selected next day delivery so they had plenty of time to arrive before I was due to start a project on the February 10th.

On February 7th, after having neither heard or received anything, I opened a ticket enquiring after the order. I managed to speak to Oliver who told me there were some delays, mainly due to the health of the solderer.

I sympathised but made it known that I needed to know if the items would arrive in the next 48 hours so that I had time to procure some alternatives if not. I was assured I needn’t worry and that it would be arranged to have the order sent directly to the site of the project by noon.

The evening before I was due to start, I received an email from the courier informing me that a delivery had been booked for February 12th to my home address. At this point it was too late for me to procure any alternatives.

I subsequently had to delay the project which could have damaging effects on my reputability and I’ve also had to cancel a train journey causing a financial loss.

Sorry to hear there was extended delays on your order.

As discussed you'd ordered a next day service when these were advertised as 3-5 days due to the time it takes to make the bespoke tapes you required. The solderer does have health issues at the moment which has been adding a day or two to some jobs.

I am aware you discussed this with Oliver and asked for a slightly different configuration which would help you complete the job, and this was sent on time. Unfortunately the warehouse missed the note that this should have been on a Saturday delivery which has now caused the delivery to be Monday. I can only apologise about this as I have done on the phone this morning.

As discussed, contact me direct for your next order and I will keep a watchfull eye over it as well as offering a goodwill discount for the inconvenience caused by this order.

Replacement downlights

I ordered 5 replacement downlights from downlights.co.uk for my bathroom. As these were replacements dimensions, particularly the cut out size, was important. The units were reasonably priced, received in a couple of days, delivered in excellent condition, well packaged and met my expectations in every respect.

Great Customer Service

Ordered 19x LED GU10 3000k Warm Bulbs after calling for a bit of advice. Bulbs arrived promptly. Unfortunately 10x of the Bulbs were the wrong colour temperature (wrong box picked off shelf), I installed the Bulbs without looking & only noticed when I got beyond the first 10. I contacted Downlights.co.uk & they were great, very quick response, all was sorted, replacement Bulbs sent & received ASAP. Mistakes can happen, it's how you resolve them that matters. As a side note, after initial installation I preferred the 4000k LED Bulbs that were incorrectly sent, Downlights.co.uk sent out 4000k as replacements instead of 3000k (as originally ordered), this made the experience even better. 5 Stars - Thank you...
