I refer to the Busy Bee garden centre…
I refer to the Busy Bee garden centre on the Isle of Wight, recently taken over by Blue Diamond.
Complete refurbishment has been completed and as long standing customers friends and family hoped for great things. However a recent visit has now confirmed that we, as well as many others we have had chats with, will now not be going again.
Accessibility is a major problem due to the compulsory manner in which all customers to the restaurant have to thread a way through the ancillary displays to get to the there, which involves practically all aisles on this section. Completely unnecessary.
Last week on entering the restaurant a staff member informed us there was a one hour wait for food, even sandwiches. Shortage of staff was explained. No problems up to this occasion so where have they all gone?
Decided to go elsewhere.
In order to get out we then had to go through the true “garden” section. Again a trek up and down long aisles, even heading away from the exit.
This is a blatant attempt to make customers look round at all the displays regardless of what they want. This will not achieve a good outcome as many visitors are slightly mobility challenged, as am I, so look for short walks.
In addition there is a long trek round the aisles to get to and from the toilets even if you use the lift.
Very disappointing even if you disregard the elevated restaurant prices.

Trelawney Garden Centre Wadebridge Cornwall
My friend and I visited Trelawney at Wadebridge Cornwall . The shop is beautifully laid out with garden products and gifts . We both bought in the clothes and shoe department and the staff member was so helpful . The plants are first class , very healthy and an amazing choice for all gardeners .
In the cafe we enjoyed coffee and home made cheese scones . I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Avoid Northampton branch like the plague!!!
Absolutely disgusting customer service.. can’t say I’m surprised at their overall low rating at that store , as a keen gardener who spends hundreds in garden centres each year I was disappointed to find out that when my mother went to this store to exchange a scarf worth a measly £8.99 she was met with a demeaning attitude and advised they would not exchange or provide a credit note despite all tags being attached and the item still selling in the store. The awful member of staff went on to suggest that she ask the person who gifted it for the receipt or failing that to regift it! Such a shame as despite stocking a lovely range of plants I cannot with good conscience continue to shop somewhere that speaks to its customers in such demeaning manner over an £8.99 item!

Further highlights how buyers need to beware, it’s not enough that an item has all the tags attached and is currently being sold in their store ,the company STILL expects you to reach out to the person who gifted you it and ask for the receipt!!! (I won’t be doing this over £8.99!) UNBELIEVABLE- avoid this overpriced company altogether, there are so many better garden centres out there which value their customers.

We love Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn…
We love Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn Sands. My husband and l have been visiting there for many, many years. The staff are excellent, so friendly and very knowledgeable.
I met a good friend for lunch on 17th March and we had another excellent meal. The food was served quickly and was piping hot. As usual l had a good look around and the service from the staff on the checkout and in the lovely restaurant was excellent as always. Thank you for making a birthday catch-up with my friend so perfect and memorable.

A great shopping experience!
I found everything I needed with the expertise of the very helpful staff. There was a vast range of goods to choose from, it was quick at the check out and a very helpful young man carried my sacks of compost to my car.

Excellent garden centre plus so much more
Excellent garden centre with a varied selection of good quality plants and garden accessories. Added bonus of a great cafe plus many other shops including a food hall and clothing section. In fact a one-stop shop for almost everything you could need plus easy, free parking. Well worth paying a visit but give yourself a couple of hours at least!

They didn’t care a dam!
The garden centre may be ok for plants but the restaurant has a lot of things wrong! As well as been over priced the food we had last Thursday was impossible to eat. We have stopped here before (Peterborough Blue Diamond) many times returning home from Norfolk and had a nice coffee and lovely scones but this time we needed a proper meal. My wife and I ordered fish, chips and peas and felt very very let down by the food. It looked ok at first site bar the peas looking very over microwaved, the rest was awful and very hard to eat. Very dry fish and chips that were hard. It seemed as though this had been kept warm for hours!!
We went to see the waitress who came over and saw we had eaten very little and offered an apology and asked if we wanted a complementary cake! We declined the cake. She said she would take them back and inform the chef. As the restaurant was very quiet we expected the chef to come and see us but alas no so after 10/15mins we left.
I emailed Blue Diamond when we got home and received a standard could not care a less reply ‘thank you for you email we will bring this to the attention of Blue Dusmond Peterborough.
Very very disappointed and we will not be stopping here again we would get better food down the road at McDonald’s and staff that care.

It is particularly disappointing to hear that your fish and chip order that you received did not your meet expectations, especially as you have previously enjoyed visiting and dining at our Peterborough Garden Centre Restaurant.
The issues that you have described are disappointing and the chef or restaurant manager should have spoken to you at the time and acknowledged your disappointment and ensured you left feeling satisfied with your meals and experience. I am sorry to learn that the complimentary offer which was made to you both was declined at the time.
I am also sorry that you felt your concerns were not fully addressed during your visit, and that your follow-up email response came across as impersonal.
Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with the management team at Peterborough for a full review, both in terms of food quality and the way concerns are handled on the day.

Very welcoming, with all sorts of interesting items for the home and garden. Plants and gardening equipment are first class and the restaurant was very bright and clean. The lunch we had was good value and very tasty.

We love this garden centre
We love this garden centre. So much choice and a variety of things on sale. Not only plants, but clothes, kitchen bits and so much more. Sometimes you are lost for choice. The plants always look so inviting and well laid out. Both cafes are good and we particularly like the patisserie which sells amazing homemade cakes. It is fascinating to watch the skilled bakers decorating the cakes and there is so much choice. Very helpful and friendly staff. Well
