Run!

Placed order, tried to cancel less than 12 hours later, when I found out it was backordered for over a month. The great "satisfaction guarantee," told me to pound sand, they can not do anything.... stay away!

They cancelled an order on me without…

They cancelled an order on me without explanation or communication, however they did proceed to charge the credit card. When I contacted support their response was vague and suggested I was the problem, and there was no correction on the charges. They are very slow to resolve the billing issues. There are far more equitable companies to by the tools from, so save yourself some headaches and do not buy from this company.

We do not charge the credit card until the order ships, which it did not in this case. We do an authorization on your credit card, which places a hold on funds until the order ships. This is very standard practice for retailers. The authorization was released within 90 minutes of your order being placed. We never collected money from your bank.

We use a third party for fraud detection and your order was flagged as high risk for fraud. We do this to protect consumers as well as to reduce our own risk. There's always a potential for false positives but we would rather err on the side of caution. If this was the case with your order, please accept our apologies.

Miss leading sale

When I ordered the two Makita saws, they were in stock, received one, and now the other is on back order. I called, emailed etc for two days, finally I got a call today. The rep basically told me what I already new, it was on back order. There customer service is the worst i have dealt with. First and LAST order with Tool Nut!!!

Dave, we did not intentionally mislead you during the order process.

Our system reflected that we had two of these saws in stock and there was an inventory discrepancy and we accept responsibility for the error. One of the saws shipped immediately. The other was delayed as a result of the inventory discrepancy.

Apologies that your order placed on Tuesday 3/26 had a delay on the second saw of two days. It will ship today, Friday 3/29.

they’ve lost out big time

Ordered 2 expensive dewalt tools that were “pre”order and that was over a month ago. Ive inquired about my order and have been told that DEWALT has pushed the date back. Either way my $$ was taken and i have no tools that i need if dewalt is the direct supplier then why bother with toolnut?? This place sucks the worst part about is i was told by my boss to order these tools to try out so company can purchase for install so after this i will be letting everyone in our company know how bad the service is and letting my company know NOT to buy from toolnut. As a union carpenter in the SF bay area we know lots of other carpenters at other companys also ALOT of general contractors who i will be letting know about there weak delivery and customer service.

Apologies for your frustration with your order. We provide our customers with information from the manufacturer regarding when new products will ship. We've had two newly announced DeWALT tools that had their launch dates delayed by the manufacturer, which is out of our control. In both of those cases we proactively notified our customers of the new launch date from DeWALT. No retailers have inventory for these tools because DeWALT has not begun shipping the product yet, so this is not specific to The Tool Nut.

We do not charge your credit card for orders until the product ships. Also, DeWALT does not sell direct.

We requested your order number or name so that we could find your order, but have not received a response. We cannot find a canceled order in our system for a Dewalt tool that's a preorder for someone in the SF Bay area.

Incompetent and inadequate customer…

Incompetent and inadequate customer service staffing. Be prepared to wait on "eternahold" for customer service, then be directed to leave a message. When we finally received a call back, the Tool Nut customer service rep gave us incorrect information. So, we had to call back the next day, wait on eternahold AGAIN, then request a call back. How much is your time worth?

I had a great experience with them

I had a great experience with them. I ordered a Track saw and some tracks as well as a dual mode sander. The orders were processed very quickly and I received everything within a week. They were very responsive regarding a setup issue with my saw. They seem to have pretty good deals on a regular basis. I got a free set of Makita 18v batteries with my saw purchase which was nice. I have ordered additional accessories for the track saw which again were processed almost immediately. Good job guys.

Fantastic Service

I had a minor issue due to some shipping damage. I contacted them about it and they got back with me right away (even during the busy holiday season) and had a quick resolution. Next tool-- I'll be shopping here for sure!

Canceled order

I ordered a leaf blower form them thought i was getting a great deal so i ordered it .
Then looking at more reviews on it someone said they have 2 models that i was unaware of . So sure enough i got the cheap one that's why it was a good price .
I called tool nut and told them i didn't want it to cancel my order. They said no problem it was out for delivery but they could have it returned . So in 3 days i had my money back no problem at all so fast so easy .

LIARS AND THIEVES!

LIARS AND THIEVES!! I'd give them zero stars if I could. They steal your money and string you along. I ordered something from them 2 months ago and they took my money and now they keep giving me the runaround. Im planning on taking legal actions against them. Please do not buy stuff from these guys they will rip you off and not care. Losers

Dodgy Company

This company stated that my items were in stock, so I ordered with them. Once I had ordered, they then stated that 2 of my items were not actually in stock and would take 12 to 17 days to ship. But, they had already taken my money, which was highly inconvenient. I cancelled my order, received no explanation or apology. My money went in the next day. However, then there was an unauthorised transaction for around $35 that was then returned and again today I've noticed a transaction for $114 which has not been returned. I will be calling the police today. Do not use this company.

The downward spiral of success

Once upon a time, Shane ran a pretty tight ship at The Tool Nut and everyone you spoke to there knew their product backward and forward. Questions were answered quickly and thoroughly, and on the rare occasion that something went wrong, they bent over backwards to make it right.

Nowadays they seem to have reached some sort of critical mass that required some growth and sadly, the current staff are not especially knowledgeable about anything. You can see them making a lot of terrible YouTube videos featuring frat boy doofuses attempting to talk about tools they've clearly never used before in their lives and it's just excruciatingly bad. If something goes wrong with an order that they screwed up, rather than moving quickly to address the problem, they jump straight to insulting you with insinuations that you might not know where your own mailbox is even if you've given them tens of thousands of dollars over the past five years. I can get that sort of treatment from Whitecap or a local Ace dealer.

They were once quite great and I'm happy to have been able to support them for as long as I have, but the thrill is clearly gone and there are other Festool dealers out there that are still actively trying. I'm gonna start giving them my money whenever possible.

ToolNut gets one star for promptly …

ToolNut gets one star for promptly processing and shipping the order but that’s it. The problems with the order began after it was shipped when UPS lost or mis-delivered one of the four cartons in the order. UPS did not accept responsibility for the lost or mis-delivered carton, which is expected from them, but the problem is that ToolNut did nothing to correct the problem. Instead of shipping a replacement tool, ToolNut expected me to wait for UPS to conduct an investigation for however long that would take which was not acceptable to me as I had paid for and expected the tool delivered in a timely manner. Additionally, when I tried to get an update on the status of the missing carton, ToolNut Customer Service stopped responding to emails of voice mails. So to protect myself, I disputed the charge with the credit card company and requested an RMA from ToolNut to return the three of the unopened cartons that were delivered. ToolNut was responsive and the three cartons were picked up by UPS and returned. That was almost two weeks ago and I still have not seen the refund. Fortunately, I still have the dispute process with the credit card company. So this has been going on for three weeks now and I don’t have the tools and the money is tied up in a a credit card dispute. Bottom line is that if everything works as planned then ToolNut is probably an okay company to do business with. However, if anything goes wrong with the order or shipment then customer service doesn’t seem to have ability to take any corrective action. Additionally, the customer service hours are limited: Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 3:00 EDT which doesn’t work very well for west coast. So it’s my perception they are not going to spend a lot of energy to make sure that you get what you are paying for in a timely manner and when provided feedback that could positively affect the customer service was told by their customer service representative “we’re not Amazon”. So, no, I wouldn’t do business with them.

Update: its been a week since I wrote the review above and the saga continues. Although ToolNut has 3 of the four unopened cartons in their possession, they continue to drag their feet and do everything they can to hold up the credit card dispute process which essentially means that your money is tied up.

I have no idea on the status of the missing carton but that's between ToolNut and UPS. Bottom line is this company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. There are other companies that offer the same prices and services and I cannot imagine any of them have Customer Service as bad as this. DO NOT DO USE THEM.

The customer service was terrible

The customer service was terrible. Not only did it take multiple times reaching out to them to cancel an order I never received, but they had an attitude. They look like they have a good selection, but I will never use them again. Life's too short to have to deal with jerks.
