Took me a week to get through to…

Took me a week to get through to customer service to permanently change over my vehicle, then charged €96 for the privilege with €55 on admin ...... and I had to print out my own disc.
Initially paid €650 a few weeks ago for fully comprehensive and AA membership.
Never again .....

Stranded in Australia Unable to Contact the AA

I have had my annual travel insurance with The AA for several years. I travelled to Australia March 30th and was unable to board my return flight to Ireland, and need to make a claim so I can get back to Ireland ASAP but I am unable to contact The AA!!! I rang the Australian number and was told they can't help me I need to call The AA in Ireland. When I call the Irish number and press 1 for claims as instructed, I'm disconnected every single time, I've emaied The AA and I get no reply. I've tried webchat a few times, each time I've been left waiting 15 minutes without any activity after answering several security questions, and had to abandon the chat. I'm now on hold over one hour and nobody is answering I'll have to give up and just keep sending emails ever single day until someone calls me - this is just not acceptable.

Dear AA Customer Service,

I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with your service concerning repairs to my car (Registration: 131 D 34409).

I sent my car in to have the timing chain replaced, and I was already paying a significant amount of approximately €2,000 for this work. However, the day before I was due to collect the car, I was informed that there was an additional issue and that I would need to pay even more money.

What made this situation even more frustrating was the poor communication and customer service. I was not proactively contacted about this issue—instead, I had to call your team myself to get an update, only to then be told about the additional problem and extra costs. I find this completely unacceptable, especially after already agreeing to and paying such a large amount for the original repair.

After collecting the car, we were told that everything was fine and the vehicle was ready to drive. However, after driving the car back, an amber warning light appeared, which caused further concern and frustration. This has left us questioning whether the repair was properly completed and whether the vehicle was thoroughly checked before being returned to us.

As a customer, I expected clear communication, transparency, and better service throughout this process. Being left to chase updates myself, being presented with unexpected extra charges at the last minute, and then experiencing further issues immediately after collection has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience.

I have also spoken with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) regarding this matter and sought advice on my consumer rights. If this issue is not resolved fairly and promptly, I am prepared to take the matter further, including pursuing it through the Small Claims Court if necessary.

I would like this matter reviewed urgently, along with a full explanation as to why proper communication was not provided, why these additional costs were only raised at such a late stage, and why the vehicle was returned with a warning light appearing shortly after collection. I also expect serious consideration regarding the extra charges given the poor handling of the situation.

I look forward to your prompt response and a fair resolution.

The agent I got was Bill

The agent I got, Bill, was very helpful and patient as I was getting home insurance and was a bit flustered. The thing I really appreciated was that he spoke clearly and didn't rush through the questions like most do. Professional, courteous and sorted all out for me efficiently.

TheAA insurance

At the start I wasn't so sure about AA insurance but after couple of years I am . I do have a AA membership as well but when was the car insurance renewal and I did call them I've spoke with a Sale Agent Craig Hanney who was extremely professional on what he was doing, respectful and not only but it also beat the other insurance quotes. So I've made my car insurance renewal with him . I highly recommend to have more staff like he is.

Spoke with a gentleman called Aarron on…

Spoke with a gentleman called Aarron on taking out a new insurance policy, bit of a chat and few jokes it was nice to be talking to a person instead of a robot, Aaron was very helpful and adjusted a few things for me from my online quote and was delighted with the service. Thank you.

Very impressive service

Coming home from a wedding with a 4 week old baby , we got a puncture on a very busy part of the M3. I spoke to call handler who immediately prioritised us, and and rather than waiting up to 90 minutes, an AA van arrived within forty minutes.
The puncture was promptly temporarily repaired ( we originally thought the car would have to be towed, which was not ideal with a baby!) We were able to safely drive home, and on to a garage to have the tyre replaced that same day. We were really delighted with the whole service. I was especially impressed with the call handler and the AA service man.
This is the second time within a year I've had to call AA , so please keep up the good work!
