I had a very good experience purchasing my Car Insurance from AA Ins.

Fortunately for me, I had a pleasant member of staff by the name of Laura (who dealt with the business) Laura was very friendly, courteous and proactive, she handled my matter in a professional manner.

Generally a good experience and easy to sign-up. Only provided four stars and I dislike that each year I have to do a run-around for who is going to be cheapest. Would be five stars if customer loyalty impacted price to such a degree that it made it worth staying.

It was amazing how easy it was to connect and obtain a cover for car at a reasonable price and entire experience of getting cover done in a few minutes

On 18th September my Toyota Verso was hit my a lorry while parked on Gomshall Lane Shere Surrey. I returned to my car to find the rear bumper hanging off and 2 notes on my windscreen - one from the lorry driver apologising and giving his number, a second from a witness giving the lorry's reg number.
I called the AA who sent a breakdown truck to take my car to a repair shop. My wife came over in her car and took me home. An hour later I got a phone call from the truck driver saying he had bern instructed to return my vehicle to Gomshall Lane !! He left the key under the wheel hub front passenger side !!
Its all been downhill with the AA insurance company and CoPart (who work closely with he AA) since then !

As I'm also with AA Breakdown I got them out. They were very efficient. The AA Brakedown man put a temporary fix on my bumper and said I should drive it home while he followed me. He said it should be easy to repair.

I've since had countless telephone conversations and text messages from the AA Insurance company and CoPart.
Many of these have been contradictory. For example I have a text message that tells me my car can be repaired. I've had phone conversations telling me that due to its age it will be treated as a write-off. My reg is LG59 HWV and the mileage is 126,600 - low for its age. I have owned it since new and have a complete service history .
CoPart at one point were pressurising me to allow them to take my car to a salvage yard.
After much toing and froing the AA agreed CoPart would do a desktop examination of my vehicle and provide an estimate of its value before the incident. I've sent the AA Subrogation department and CoPart photos of the damage, photos of the temporary fix, copies of my service history book (with stamps). I've sent them photos of the notes left on my windscreen.

My understanding was they would send me an estimate of how much they would pay out after receiving payment from the lorry's insurance company and deducting my excess. Then I'd get my car repaired.

Instead - after asking CoPart and AA Insurance to acknowledge receipt of the photo evidence I've sent them - I'm getting nothing back.
I tried to register a complaint via their Complaints procedure and got an auto-response saying I should get an answer within 5 working days. Unbelieveable !
Also I note that the CEO of AA Insurance - Michelle Jackson - does not have a publicly accessible email addrss !
I'm very disapointed with my treatment by AA Insurance. They seem to operate on the principle that old cars should be scrapped not repaired. My AA Breakdown man tells me I can buy a rear bumper for £250 on ebay andget it fitted and posdibly resprayed for about £500.

I could claim for use of a hire car - but have declined. I want my car repaired.

Meanwhile...my car sits in our drive while I wait for the AA Insurance people to engage with me.
I hope this review will elicit a response.

I note the response from AA Insurance.
It mentions a "dedicated team". This has not been my experience. Just the opposite. I must have spoken to 5 or 6 different AA representatives. There seems little or no communication between team members. Or, they fail to update my online file to reflect what has been agreed. For example I spoke to one rep on 12th Oct and we agreed a way forward. Another rep rang me on 13th Oct and seemed unaware of the conversation which took place the day before. Another example is being told my car would be written off then getting a text message (unsigned) saying they had reviewed it and it was repairable.

To add to the confusion, I've been given 2 different claim numbers by the AA :

Getting through to speak to team members usually involves a long wait.
As far as I understand matters they are going to ring me when they are in a position to offer me some compensation. When I have that I can pay to get my car repaired.

Great website, easy to use. Very quick to get insured and a very good price. Even the ‘gold’ option (which I went for) was more comprehensive and cheaper than the standard cover I had with my previous insurer. I recommend using the AA unreservedly.
