Poor customer service.

I needed to add someone to my car insurance for one month and make sure they were covered for commuting to and from work. What should have been simple took around three hours on live chat, as the adviser didn’t seem to understand what I needed. I eventually paid £70 for one month of cover. I’ve now gone back to extend it by 10 days and have been told it would actually have been cheaper to add them until the end of my policy year for around £50. I’m furious that this option wasn’t explained at the time. I’ve now spent £108 for just one month and 10 days of cover, when I could apparently have had them insured until January 2027 for half of what I paid. This is one of several issues I’ve had with AA in a short space of time, and I’m now seriously considering leaving.

Almost impossible to cancel auto renewal

I am writing this having spent half an hour on the phone waiting before I gave up and I am now on the online chat.

As soon as I said that I didn't want to renew the chat came to an abrupt halt.

I am still waiting! Why can't I just cancel online?

Hi Fred, if your renewal is more than 10 days away, you can remove automatic renewal online here 👉 www.theaa.com/help-support/stop-auto-renew

If it's due sooner than that, you'll need to get in touch with us by phone or live chat. We're experiencing higher demand than usual at the moment, but we're doing our best to help customers as quickly as possible.

We've checked your policy and can see that you've since spoken with us and that automatic renewal has now been removed.
