As I have recently got married, I needed to change my surname on my car insurance policy. Apparently if you make changes online, there is no fee. I filled in the appropriate online form, only to receive an email saying that I would need to ring them as they “needed more information”. I presumed they needed to see my marriage certificate, but no, they wanted to take a £25, yes £25, admin charge for simply changing my surname to my married name!!! I told the agent I thought it was a disgrace and he said he understood and would speak to his manager and see if they could waive the charge. Apparently the manager said NO, we can’t! I said I wanted to cancel the policy but was told there would be a £32 charge to do this!!! Steer clear of taking ANY policy out with these charlatans! I have changed my name with around 30 companies and have never been asked for a penny! To make me even more furious, two hours after I paid this exorbitant and inexplicable £25 charge, I logged into my account and no changes had been made. I had to have a live chat with someone to get the changes made!!

I do not feel comfortable buying Insurance 'on line' & I like a Hard Copy of my Policy . I explained this to the lady I spoke to & she was great . Not a trace of the patronising tone that one sometimes receives. Her explanations were as clear as crystal.

After receiving a quote from my existing insurers which had been hiked by 37% I set about finding a new insurer. The AA provided me with a competitive quote so I accepted it.

I liked the price but once I signed up, it was revealed my insurance was covered by a 3rd party I had never heard of!! AA the middleman, give them this 1 year but next I'm off for their underhanded tactics!

Shocked to find that electric failure is not covered in their Home Emergency Cover on their "Platinum" home insurance policy. This is standard in other home emergency products. Disappointed
