James has been an excellent tutor so far. He has spent time building a rapport with my son which is crucial to putting him at ease. From the first session James listened to what he said found difficult, and observed what he didn't say(!) and has tailored engaging sessions based on this. Thank you James.

My daughter has been out of school for an extended period. She is supported through an EHCP by a multi-disciplinary team and has an EOTAS package of therapies and online schooling, with the aim of gradually transitioning back into a school setting.

I have felt fully supported by SENsational Tutors throughout. Communications are clear and the staff highly responsive.

As EOTAS coordinator, Lizzie has been exceptionally reliable, diplomatic, and well organised in overseeing what is a complex blended school/EOTAS arrangement: leading MDT meetings and liaising with professionals, the school SENCO, and our Local Authority. She is a caring, empathetic and warm person as well a diligent and experienced professional.

Sylwia has been working with our 5 year old autistic son since January and we are so impressed with how well she engages him to settle and focus week on week. Our son may also have PDA and the way Sylwia plans her lessons specifically to his interests is inspiring. When the doorbell rings, he now sits at the desk ready to study.

We started to look for a tutor due to our son being in school part time and we found Sensational Tutors. We shortlisted a few tutors but Krista really stood out for us and after an initial discussion, we knew that she was the right match.

Krista has helped our son with his confidence and concentration. Our son had really low self esteem and had disengaged with learning due to struggles he had faced being in a mainstream setting - Krista showed our son that education can be fun and that not all teachers would tell him off.

My daughter has Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). She also has ASD with PDA, ADHD, anxiety and delayed sleep phase. Alex has been engaged as a specialist Mentor and is a vital part of my daughter’s EOTAS package. Alex prioritised getting to know my daughter and to really listening to her, before trying to move forwards with any mentoring. This connection was vital in order for my daughter to feel safe and be in a position to engage with mentoring. Alex took the time to learn about how FASD affects my daughter’s everyday, both mentally and physically. FASD is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, and certainly not understood by most professionals we meet, therefore to have Alex take the time to understand what is behind the needs being communicated was very necessary and a welcome change. The gradual connection and trust has been built at the pace required by my daughter and the mentoring sessions are all child-led. Alex has been great at taking my daughter’s lead with ideas, and also suggesting ways of expanding her window of tolerance. Alex has continually thought outside of the box to bring workable ideas to the sessions, and is always available to listen to parental ideas. One resounding success was bringing her puppy to the earlier sessions which reduced my daughter’s stress of the 1:1 mentoring and enabled her to engage. All ideas are on the table and this flexibility and responsiveness is what’s so great about the sessions and Alex’s approach.

I just wanted to say how grateful we are for the support we received. My child has additional needs and can find learning and confidence really difficult, especially in bigger environments. Philippa had such a gentle, understanding way with him and really took the time to get to know his interests and needs. She would bring little tailored things that suited him, which meant so much and helped him feel safe and engaged.

She truly “got” him in a way that many people don’t, and that gave him a level of comfort and confidence I hadn’t seen in a long time. He genuinely looked forward to his sessions and felt very comfortable doing his extra learning with her after school.

I also want to say how kind and accommodating the team were, especially Helen, who made me feel really comfortable and supported as a parent. As a mum of a neurodivergent child, feeling understood and validated means everything.

My 21 year old son had been out of education for 3 years when Rebecca started working with him 3 months ago. She has been very skilful at reintroducing education to him gradually and at his own pace. This has enabled his engagement and confidence to increase with every session. Rebecca has tailored the sessions to include content that is of particular interest to my son which has also been helpful in improving his focus. I receive regular, detailed emails with progress reports from Rebecca. I would highly recommend Rebecca for her professionalism, knowledge of SEN and ability to be flexible to students' needs.

Chris came in with energy and knowledge and a willingness to find our son. To really reach him and develop a systematic method of studying to be able to measure his abilities and progress. Our son immediately took to him, and was so excited to be able to speak about things that are far beyond mom regarding the universe and all things science. Chris is patient and able to recognize and respond appropriately to moments of challenge that our son experiences and he is a wonderful addition to his educational team.

Avani has ADHD combined diagnosis. Her main area of need is in Executive Functioning skills/study skills. She suffers with anxiety/melt downs, cognitive ability to comprehend questions in English language/literature and history mainly. She struggles with task initiation and lack of concentration for any meaningful length of time. Her perfectionism and inflexible way of working hinders her ability to write constructively under timed conditions. During my research for a tutor that could meet Avani's ND needs, I was lucky to find Glynda from SenSational Tutors. Glynda has been tutoring Avani since September 2025. Glynda built a trusting and honest relationship with Avani very quickly as they had to hit the ground running, due to Avani's final GCSE exams this spring. Glynda's professional and friendly way of supporting/tutoring Avani has been amazing and they have worked exceptionally well together from the start. Avani is working incredibly hard with Glynda and making good progress in learning the strategies and way of working which suits her needs. We are extremely happy with Glynda's expertise in this area and could not have wished for a better tutor to help/support and motivate Avani. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My 9 year old daughter who has ADHD and suspected dyslexia has a fantastic tutor, Alex, who has been provided by SENational Tutors. I can’t say enough about how wonderful and impactful Alex has been to be my daughter’s progress over the last year - my daughter has found school challenging but with Alex’s help it’s clear that her confidence is growing and importantly she is recognising how to manage her ADHD. Alex is warm, patient, considerate and an expert in identifying the needs of children with ADHD. She has helped my daughter develop strategies to aid her learning and emotional wellbeing, as well as to advocate for herself in school. Alex creates an environment which is fun, safe and importantly, interesting. My daughter always looks forward to her weekly sessions with Alex. After fighting relentlessly for an EOTAS package, our tutor Helen, from SENsational Tutors was the only person who was able to truly reach Dylan and build a genuine, trusting relationship with him. Other alternative provisions who I was introduced to by the local authority didn’t have the skills, experience, or care needed to really develop that connection. I did my own research and requested SENsational Tutors to be the chosen provider. I simply don’t know where we would be without them.

I very much feel that Sensational took the time and effort to match our child with a tutor that was right for them. We were in absolute despair before we found Sensational;- finding a tutor for a highly complex young man with significant learning disabilities but a proven ability to learn had seemed an impossible task. It immediately became clear that Sensational differ from other providers in their expert understanding of statutory frameworks and genuine ability to understand, work with and support young people and their families. We were astonished at the sheer level of ground work they were willing to put in where other providers were clearly only interested in payment. Terri was identified by Sensational as being a suitable tutor- but it was very clear the decision was ours - and the quality of both Sensational’s background work and Terri’s professionalism and experience became clear as soon as she was introduced to us. Watching Terri at work is extraordinary, she very quickly was able to judge how to encourage and develop the potential of a young man needing highly specialised education whilst keeping him engaged and safeguarding his precarious mental health. Terri’s amazing creativity, resourcefulness, experience and sensitivity mean that she is able to offer an education which would otherwise be completely inaccessible. We cannot recommend Terri and Sensational highly enough.

Ms Glynda has been an incredible support for our 8-year-old son since she started working with him in September. We have already seen noticeable improvements in his English comprehension. As an autistic child, English has always been a real challenge for him, but he is now beginning to construct his own sentences, which is a huge achievement.

Ms Glynda took the time to understand his individual needs and quickly identified his areas of difficulty. Her creative and flexible teaching approach has kept him engaged and, just as importantly, has significantly reduced his anxiety around English homework.

She is friendly, professional, and completely reliable, and we are extremely grateful for the positive impact she has had on both our son’s learning and confidence. We would highly recommend Ms Glynda to any parent looking for an experienced and understanding SEN tutor.

After an awful experience with a private school for special needs, we successfully assembled a fantastic team of tutors to continue homeschooling our neurodiverse child. Nine months in, everything is progressing wonderfully.
