I wish I had read the reviews on Trustpilot before I used NVR! The vehicle was not too bad and the system of dropping it off and collecting it was not bad either, but administratively their service is diabolical - it’s almost impossible to get through on their number and emails take days to be responded to. Then the deposit! I was told 7 - 10 working days but then was told that this is from 5 days after the vehicle has been returned. You’re supposed to get an email when the deposit has been released, but I only got this email on day 11 after two or three emails chasing it and then was told it could take up to 28 days from then! It’s ridiculous and based on some reviews I am not sure I’ll ever get my £250 back! That deposit is MY money once the vehicle has been cleared fit after the rental period! It should be a couple of days at the most. They have no right to keep my money like this!
AVOID!!! Unroadworthy vehicle and no deposit returned
AVOID!!!! The vehicle wasn't delivered in a roadworthy state. The warning light for AdBlue was on and one of the tyres had a warning light on. I had to pull over several times to pump it back up. I hired the vehicle in December and still haven't received the deposit back. I've phoned a couple of times, been left on hold for 25 minutes then the call cuts off. How this company continues to do business, I have no idea.

Very disappointed with this company and I recommend that you avoid using them. We booked a minibus for 8.30 to drive up to a wedding in Scotland. The driver called at 9 am to say that he wouldn't be here until 11am which was too late so we cancelled the booking via email as the phone number to cancel reservations put us on hold for 30 minutes each time then cut the line.
I was then charged the full hire cost because the small print says that I must cancel before 72hrs to avoid the full hire cost.
I complained via email as they would not answer the phone only to be told that the full charge stands because it's written in the terms and conditions (which I was never sent).
Terrible company.

Failed to drop off between requested time. Failed to collect for over 24 hours after collection time. Never refunded deposit, no communication. Very poor experience. AVOID.
Problem getting deposit returned.
The booking process was straight forward, the vehicle was delivered on time and was in good condition, it was a nice vehicle. When I went to start it I had a low adblue message and had to top it up, this is supposed to be done by the rental company, we only had to put fuel in it. The company said they would re-imburse us for the cost of the adblue as long as I had a receipt and re-imburse the cost along with our deposit. We are now 42 days past the vehicle return date and we still haven't had our deposit returned despite receiving an email stating our deposit was returnable in full plus the adblue cost. Despite several phone calls (they are almost impossible to get hold of on the phone) and emails I have now lost all faith in this company and wonder whether we will ever see our deposit returned. Use this company with great caution if you want you deposit returned.

Avoid at all cost absolute cowboys van turned up so dirty we had to clean the windows so much damage surprised it was roadworthy then to this day they have never repaid the £500 deposit (they no longer take a deposit but they will find another way to get money from you)then left the van sitting outside my house for 3 days waiting to be collected gutted I ever came across these rogues

I could almost copy and paste from almost all the negative reviews on Truspilot as my experience is identical. Booked a van online. Received an automated reservation confirmation. I felt somewhat uneasy over the process and tried to contact the company. Suffice to say, no answer on the phone. I sent an email to emphasise the time critical nature of the hire, I had to pickup goods in Cheshire from London the next day. No reply from the company. An hour after the scheduled drop off of the van I received a curt email to say my hire had been cancelled. No apology or explanation. Urgent calls and van sourced from Enterprise to save the day. Fortunately I had paid for the hire on a credit card to their PayPal account so if the money is not returned promptly and in full I will seek redress and dispute the transaction.
Bad Experience!!!
1st hired a van in October last year and never received the deposit back hired another van and got them to roll the deposit from the previous over as I never received it back, this van turned up looking like It had been used in a destruction derby! Complaining but getting nowhere despite issues with the van, and from seeing these reviews it's clear I'll never receive the deposit back! Looks like will be taking a hot on the deposit again but will never use or recommend this company again!

Avoid this company if you have any desire to get your deposit back.
The van I hired was delivered late, had no spare (as the previous renter had a puncture and it had just been left in the cab) and was in general poor condition.
They did not collect the vehicle on time and three months after the rental have still not returned the deposit - absolute cowboys.
You will never get your deposit back
Like so many others have found, vehicles are ok, if really battered. The problem is you don’t get your £500 deposit back, so the real cost of rental is significantly higher than expected. It is impossible to contact NVR by phone, so all you can do is leave a poor review in the hope of warning others. Don’t use this company
Shocking Service and Vehicle
Vehicle delivered with terrible brakes, steering issues, charging ports not working, washer fluid pump not working, oil light warning on the dashboard. Tried numerous times to call - waited on hold for 60 mins a time (4 times) and no answer

Requested a Luton van for a house move and firstly the delivery was delayed due to a "mechanical error" with the vehicle, so they said they would deliver the following day between 0800-1000
Recieved a call from the driver at 0950, stating he was 2 hours away. 3 hrs later he shows up in shabby looking dirty van. No fuel, broken indicator, filthy and no oil in.
Collection time and they are late again! Stuck on hold with the company for 45mins to get an update but nothing. Phone goes dead.
Honestly they would be out of business.

They will not give us our £500 deposit back. Despite numerous emails and even a promise the refund had been processed, we still haven't received. If a guy called Allen Iverson tells you it has been processed, do not believe him as he is lying and then ignores your emails. I can only assume they rely on people not chasing them to stay a float. I have today instigating legal proceedings. Avoid at all costs.

I am writing this to warn anyone considering renting from this company. We rented a van in June 2025, and as of February 2026, they still have not returned our £500 deposit.
What makes this situation truly disgraceful is that these funds belong to a charity for autistic children. We have contacted them multiple times over the last eight months, and they have provided nothing but excuses or total silence.
They are essentially withholding money that is meant to support vulnerable children. This is beyond unprofessional; it is unethical. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. If you value your money and want to avoid the stress of being scammed, go elsewhere. You have been warned.

I am posting this to warn other families and businesses. We hired a vehicle for a family trip to France and paid a £500 security deposit. The vehicle was returned in perfect condition.
The company failed to return the deposit within their stated 28-day window. When we chased them, we received an email from their support team (signed 'Allen Iverson') admitting that they are "unable to take any further direct action on the refund" and instructing us to force the money back via our bank.
A company that advises its own customers to initiate chargebacks because it cannot process refunds voluntarily is a serious financial risk. Do not hand over a deposit unless you are prepared to fight your bank to get it back. Check their Trustpilot reviews (16+ pending judgments mentioned) before you pay.
We are currently pursuing recovery via the banking system.

Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this rental company.
I experienced ongoing and unresolved issues with the return of my deposit. I was first told it could take up to 28 days. After that, the company claimed there had been a failed banking transaction. My bank confirmed that no failed transaction had occurred. When I raised this, I was told there was nothing more they could do and that I should contact my bank to request a chargeback. This sequence of excuses is deeply concerning.
The vehicle I was provided was, in my opinion, not roadworthy. It had extremely poor braking performance, tyres with insufficient air, and no engine oil. These are serious safety issues, not minor defects or normal wear and tear. The van had approximately 92,000 miles and showed clear signs of poor maintenance. I believe renting out a vehicle in this condition puts customers at real risk of injury.
Customer service was also extremely poor. The customer service phone number was consistently engaged, making it very difficult to get assistance when problems arose.
In my view, there is a high risk of losing your deposit or being charged for damage you did not cause. I have since seen many other reviews from customers reporting delayed or missing deposits, which suggests my experience is not isolated.
For safety and financial reasons, I would strongly advise choosing a different rental company.

Very disappointing experience regarding the security deposit. After returning the car on 2 January, the deposit was not refunded.
Customer service confirmed in writing they could not assist further due to their “automated system” and told me to pursue a chargeback with my bank.
This should not be the customer’s responsibility. I would strongly advise future renters to be cautious and document everything.
