ALLERGY ISSUES - NOT KNOWN OR CLEAR
We were bought a gift voucher for experiences and chose to visit the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill. As my daughter was coming with us and is coeliac, needing a gluten free diet we emailed ahead to check on what she would be able to have. We were sent and response with a copy of the children's menu highlighting what food she could have. This indicated chicken, steak, salad, and mash but we were also advised to inform staff on our arrival. We thought this was a good start and my daughter was looking forward to it...
On our arrival we handed the voucher in and told the staff member who greeted us of my daughter's allergy - we weren't asked this but in most restaurants now you are asked if there are allergies - we just got "OK". Sat at our table and the waitress came over - we told her of the allergy need and wanted to check on the email. They advised they would get the food matrix to guide us further. In this menu there was no information on the children's menu, and we pointed this out - they advised they would get a manager. No manager came over, but the staff member returned advising of another list of foods that my daughter could have listing garlic breads, pasta dishes etc. We asked if these were the gluten free as it was different guidance to the email - the response "think so". The risk of "think so" was not one we could take so stuck to the steak and mash. When asked how she wanted the steak the staff asked us rather than my daughter who asked for medium rare - to be told "no children's is pink or well done". We had the meal which to be honest was all right not a great deal of fuss over it! With drinks we asked for no paper straws as they can at times contain wheat to bind them - we had two served with straw's, but staff did change them. On to puddings they gave us a list of what my daughter could have - she ordered the ice cream for staff to then come back and say it's only vanilla ice cream she could have! The bill needed to be corrected three times and then we left... I've mailed twice to the restaurant and had one reply stating they will forward my reply to a manager no reply so emailed back with more concerns and FSA guidance - still no reply. We can go to local pubs who offer more understanding with gluten free and even my local chinese takeaway can do it! A worrying concern that a place like this cannot clearly show or understand allergies!! Oh and be aware if you want to sit by a window there's and extra charge!!
Don't Waste Your Time or Money
We purchased a voucher from Buy A Gift to be used at Marco Pierre White in Birmingham. I called 11 times to make the booking, but no one answered the phone so went online and made the booking, in the comments box, I put in our dietary requirements and also put in that I had a voucher. As I hadn't heard anything from the restaurant I took it that the booking was fine. When we got there we were told that we could not use the voucher until after 6 pm and its in the T&C's, I explained that I called the day before - 11 times actually and was asked to prove that, which I did, also it clearly states on the booking that we had a voucher, so why didn't someone call me, they didn't seem to have an answer for that but kept saying that they couldn't take the voucher until after 6, when I asked to speak to the ladies superior, she came out saying the same thing, no level of customer service, just a case of "computer says no", this then went on for about 40 mins after which we were given a table. The whole afternoon was spoilt not just by the situation but more so by how they actually dealt with it, which was just disgraceful. Whilst we were having this merry dance with them, I also witnessed a member of staff in tears because of how a member of the management team spoke to them, again totally disgraceful, no one should reduce anyone to tears in their place of work. I do welcome any comments from Marco Pierre White Restaurant's so please do feel free to contact me. An establishment that we will not be sitting foot in again.
Top class venue
First time there. Superb welcome by the Staff. Very clean and very Professionally run. The food was the best I’ve ever tasted. Goats cheese and Beetroot starter and Fillet Steak 12 ounce totally the very best . To be honest the best restaurant in Nottingham with out a doubt. Thank you to Agnes the waitress who was Fabulous
Inept and incompetent staff presenting appalling food at gourmet prices
Advised need for gluten free menu in advance. Shock horror reaction from ‘restaurant’ receptionist who was unable to identify GF foods on menu
Starters really good; GF salmon (only after arrogant approval from manager???) was mediocre, sirloin steak not available (in steak restaurant?) and substituted ribeye inedible - the supplied steak knife failed to cut the gristle and connective tissue attached to this £29.00 piece of protein which was cooked almost blue even though the recommended medium rare was specified. The ultimate insult was delivered by a member of hotel management 10 minutes after serving coffee by presenting a chocolate brownie to a known gluten intolerant guest
Unbelievably inept, incompetent and way outside acceptable service standards
Does the Michelin starred (although returned) patron know just how disrespectfully his name is being used?
This is a place to avoid even if you have to book in this moderate hotel
Terribly expensive experience
Terribly expensive experience

Warning about Vouchers Offers
Warning about Voucher Offers, Check the expiry date, do not fall foul like us. We purchased offer voucher on a few occasions, the expiry date was normally a year. This time we didn’t, silly mistake on our part. The expiry was for only 3 months, the vouchers had expired at the end of March this year an we tried to see if they would extend them as a gesture of goodwill but the Restaurant couldn’t but put us in touch with the company who could, but they forward it onto to another company and we still have not heard anything back. Our error, but it was the first time we had done this I thought they would have extended it.
Totally let down
Always enjoyed going here which is why I booked a special event here for my husbands 60th
Was booked roughly 8 months prior with menu chosen ect
1st issue menu changed without notification plus increase by £10 a head plus nothing like previous menu only found out when tried to look at the menu ended up going up in person to resolve the issue after trying to communicate by phone and email
A deposit was paid at time of booking with the balance being paid 4 weeks prior with a set spend limit
Unfortunately issues with their kitchen equipment so party was cancelled two days before which I understand was out of their control but balloon clusters ect and cake ordered could not be cancelled but no chance of getting somewhere else sorted with just over 48 hours notice and guests had booked holiday ect
So out of pocket for cake ect and all offered is 10%off my next Al a crate meal in the restaurant which previous week to the party I also had booked only to find out having got taxi ect there to be told that was cancelled also and I would not have travelled there had I know and they had my contact number
I was refunded my party payment but out of pocket twice and the best they can offer me is 10% off another meal not the best customer service in my opinion

I went to the bar for a drink and the lady who served us her attitude was disgusting, I think her name was Vicki. The service was shocking. Wouldn’t recommend, I would recommend the hotel and the restaurant as it’s all amazing but the bar was a massive let down, but overall because of this experience I will not be returning
The worst
The worst. If Marco has been anywhere near these franchise budget hotel eateries, he should hang his head in shame. Better still, he should get his protege, Mr Ramsay, to go and give him an honest rundown on the lack of passion, or even basic hygiene and standards, being associated with his now-for-me-tarnished name / brand. The restaurant was a joke - a sad, tired breakfast room in a budget hotel, in which they serve cold microwaved drab food (the calamari), or, worse still, raw, uncooked burgers (the burger with the cold, purple centre), the like of which you don’t even get at a greasy spoon. I’d rather eat at a proper budget hotel or cafe, as it would be better than this total horrible garbage. The fact that it’s branded with a celebrity chef is either misrepresentation bordering on fraud, or, even worse, the death rattle of Marco Pierre White’s reputation. Or maybe both. It’s truly disgusting, but also really sad. What the hell happened to let this Marco association exist? Did he sell his name to a marketing company? Avoid at ALL cost. The only saving grace is that the staff (who are working in a failed system of a fallen marketing / franchise rip off) try their best in doomed circumstances. Thanks to them for at least waiving the bill for the £8 Camden Hells to wash down this awful experience
Very Disappointing
Very Disappointing
I have read many reviews about Rudloe Arms and looked forward to having a meal and overnight stay. We saw this Wowcher deal and it look great at an excellent price, I should have realised you get what you pay for. Please don’t do as I did and download the menu from their website as it was not what we were given. I just don’t know if I was at the same hotel as some of those writing the reviews!
I asked for two rooms next to each other as my elderly uncle struggled to walk, I was told this would be arranged but on arrival I found our rooms were on different corridors on the ground floor. This was not the start I hoped for but the building was beautiful as were the grounds so I let that go.
Once I got to my room I was horrified to see Sex Pistol pictures all over the wall with F**~ and Bol*#@~s, not what I wanted to wake up too. There was no mirror on the dresser and while there was a hair dryer the mirror in the bathroom was too far away to use. When I asked about my room, I was told there wasn’t another one available.
The complimentary cocktail was not nice so we ordered some proper drinks but at £19 a shot of whisky I was shocked to find all drink orders came with an additional 10% service charge.
At dinner there was a set menu specially for residents and the selection was limited, this was not the menu I downloaded from their website. We started with the beetroot and curd cheese which was not really very flavoursome but maybe the mains were better. My uncle and I chose to pay an additional £30 supplement to have the steak. As the waiter started to walk away, I asked if it came with veg and was told no. I cannot imagine anyone just eating a steak so I suggested maybe he should have pointed that out. His replied floored me, he said extra’s are indicated on the menu if you wanted something else you should have asked, I requested some chips.
Two bottles of wine at £54 and £64 respectfully both came with a 10% service charge on top. While I don’t mind paying extra for the wine but charging £12 to bring it to my table seems all wrong.
The ladies ordered Fishcake and Lamb Ragu and neither of them could eat the food, the Ragu was like a mush of minced lamb and gnocchi while the fishcake had way to much salt.
Next day we decided to get an early breakfast and leave as we had not been very impressed with this 3* hotel, which must have been given for the eclectic décor in the lounges and the building itself, certainly not for the food.
I picked up the breakfast menu in front of me to find it had marmalade down one side, I pointed this out to the waiter, he gave me an extra napkin to wipe my hand and apologised. The floor around the table had food from the previous night which I had accidentally stepped in, again I pointed this out to the waiter and again received an apology.
The breakfast was more edible however the full English had an additional supplement as did the Eggs Benidict and a small side of beans was £4, once more there was the 10% service charge to be added to the invoice.
After breakfast we packed our things and I paid the bill without complaint, I choose the supplements the wine etc. my disappointment wasn’t the bill but what I received. On this occasion was not great, I went there to share a special day and felt so let down by my experience.
After paying my bill I felt I needed to share my disappointment and concerns but received defensive excuses and little sympathy for my genuine concerns.
I mentioned the Ragu and salty fishcake to be told that’s how the chef believes it should be done, I pointed out you can always add salt later if required. She apologised for the dirty dining area but reiterated the separate rooms were justified as they were on the same floor, no comment on my insulting wall decoration.
On the positive side I have to say the surrounding grounds were beautiful and the building quite stunning, the mixed collection of items in the lounges were fascinating and worth a look around.
I guess some people reading this may believe this is from a habitual complainer but I don’t complain, I rarely write reviews but can be absolutely honest when I say I was so looking forward to this overnight stay at the Rudloe Arms hotel and feel deeply let down.
Booking charges
I had to rearrange my lunch booking due a big crash on the A3, so I called to change the date only to be told I had to pay £30 to move our booking. If it had not been for the fact that my son bought this as a birthday present I would have told them where to go!!
With the state of the UK and the fact that we are all struggling to make ends meet, I was astonished the Mr White needs money that badly. You should be ashamed of yourself, this to some families is the cost of a complete diner out for the family
what an experience! An art review
We stayed at The Rudloe Arms near Bath and it was amazing I’ve never stayed anywhere so strange in my life, in our room we had ejaculate on the racist cartoons. In the main house the man himself might have well been there as his larger than life heroic meat-clever wielding poses nestled nicely amongst the varied forms of misogyny photographic display, ah I’m so nostalgic for 1980’s Athena (man cuddles baby/shark) or (woman tucks tennis ball in knickers)
And the business model is a pepperminty delight, nothing says luxury like a heard of Wowcher and Groupon funnelled into a room with a grumpy, albeit sultry barman serving mouthwash in return for our coupons.
The food was good and the £4 extra, no problem so all in all a very memorable experience.
I went to the steakhouse in Lincoln on…19th March and it was an awful experianc
I went to the steakhouse in Lincoln on Tuesday 19th March. We all had steaks non of us were happy with our meals, poor quality meat badly cooked
In addition yet again they did not have a number of wines on their list, the house red offered was simply poor
good luck booking a table …
I tried to book a table by email no reply and I telephoned birmingham restaurant constantly engaged off the hook I presume had a red letter voucher so changed it for another event I don't know what this £5 booking fee for each person is either
Embarrassing experience total amateurs! Avoid
If I could have given less than one star believe me I would! My daughter bought me a Wowcher coupon for afternoon tea for my birthday. After claiming it and booking at the restaurant within the Doubletree by Hilton in Hull and giving the voucher code, I went on Saturday 2/3/2024 my birthday. We ordered £50 worth of wine which we knew we would have to pay separately for. The food was nice and the service good, however, when it came to settle the bill I was asked for my voucher number as they had not recorded it on their system!!!! It was an awful moment which totally destroyed the experience completely! Luckily I had a screenshot on my phone as the lady disputed that I had correctly claimed the Wowcher!
What a complete and utter shambles I left very angry and embarrassed and would never use this restaurant again. Update:
I received a call from a young man who said he was the restaurant’s manager and I was appalled at his lack of empathy! He could not have cared less about what happened and made it feel like it was my fault! Arrogant little man who is clearly insensitive to customers concerns, which is very telling. I truly hope that this restaurant fails and closes! If I was a Michelin star chef I would not want my name on this sh!t show
Awful meal, awful experience.
Awful, do not go here! I booked for valentine's day using a virgin experience voucher, when booking I paid a £20 deposit, expecting to be refunded or deducted from the bill. I ordered extra food to cover the cost of the deposit, when the bill came the £20 was not deducted and I was informed it was in fact just a fee that I had to pay to make the reservation at all, which is ludicrous. Very very expensive, the voucher was only valid for 3 mains, the rest were all extra costs, we got the rump steak, which came as a very small piece of meat, with a choice of 2 sauces on the side. There were no sides included, just a piece of meat with a sauce on the side. We ordered extra sides of chips and creamed potatoes which weren't very nice at all and for £7.50 each was just awful. I contacted the restaurant afterward, asking for a refund for the £20 I paid to book as they never informed me it would be a fee, just a deposit. They got back to me saying how I should count myself lucky that I could use the voucher on Valentine's Day at all, how rude. Stay Away from here, overpriced and not worth it.
Birthday Bubbles
I booked the afternoon tea experience at Liverpool’s Marco Pierre White Steakhouse for my partner’s 51st Birthday. We were greeted warmly by Jess who was our server. She enquired if we had any allergies before showing us to our super-cosy and intimate banquette table. Jess checked in with us throughout the experience and was always friendly, helpful and attentive. We loved the moody, masculine decor and the afternoon tea selection was a nice modern update of an English tradition. We would definitely recommend the venue to anyone looking for a special dining experience. It really is the ideal gift for a friend or loved-one. We’re grateful to Jess for
taking such great care of us. We’ll definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu. The complimentary glass of Prosecco was a nice surprise. Thank you.
MPW Plymouth- tasty steak.
My sister and I recently went to MPW in Plymouth for a meal. We only had a main meal of 6 oz fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was very tasty and cooked perfect. We had a bottle of wine and a latte and had such a lovely evening. Our waitress Katie B was lovely and very helpful checking back to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Would definitely go back again. Thank you 😊
Maybe I was expecting too much...!!
Maybe I was expecting too much...!!
the rooms were far too hot, all the windows were painted and locked , hence the fan in the room.
The shabby chic hotel had a certain charm, the ripped carpets , leaking bath taps and loose bathroom tiles were not chic.
none of the serving staff ask if you have allergies
NOW my real issue....half the evening meal food menu and the breakfast menu had supplement charges.
REALLY, when I ask the receptionist why...?
We are still recovering from covid, really four years ago, poor excuse,
they will be charging for car parking next
VERY DISAPPOINTING, only the friends I went with made the special night
