My honest experience of JEC over one…

My honest experience of JEC over one and a half years...
I'll start with saying in the beginning it was good but about 6 months or more it started to go downhill. This is when two key members of staff left, since then they have been terrible. Appointment requests/ links for repeats/ rewrites are monthly challenge and I have to ask for them, but they are still happy to take my monthly payment every month on time.
When I first joined I was told there will be an access scheme for people on benefits, there would also be a pharmacy both of these have not happened and it looks like they won't be any time soon.
Since I have been at JEC, I have seen at least 3 or 4 different doctors and a pharmacist, all have now left, one doctor lasted two weeks to one month only and the current new doctor will be away for 3 months from January.
For the last 4 months I have had delayed prescriptions, lost prescriptions in the post and countless rewrites and delays causing me to have breaks in my medication or having to take evening medication in the morning because I don't have the right medication because I'm waiting on rewrites.
This month has got to have been the worst. I had my appointment with the new doctor and all went well. Then it went downhill from there, it took two days for me to receive my copy of the prescription but one week from writing to getting to the pharmacy. This then caused an item to be out of stock. The cause of the delay apparently it was" lost in the post " even though they say it had tracking. So after I kicked off and eventually got to speak to the manager, after being told I'll have to wait a week for an investigation with no medication.
In the end the manager got a new prescription written and sent to the pharmacy which arrived 4 days later,in the meantime my original turned up and the pharmacy processed two items but one is out of stock. I picked a replacement( banana sherbet)which also turned out to be out of stock but was rectified straight away by phone and email by myself and the pharmacy and also Karen the rep.so they knew what my replacement was(White runtz) Not banana sherbet.
Today the second prescription turned up which needed cancelling rather than the rewrite.so after phoning JEC and asking what is going on I was told a rewrite has been done. (White runtz)
The rewrite has arrived after 4 days( banana sherbet)and it's the wrong selection, they wrote a prescription for something that's out of stock and was told 3 times it's out of stock.
So I'm back to square one again.
I've actually resolved the issue myself and asked the pharmacy to just send me 20g of wedding cake instead which is on the 2nd prescription that should have been voided and on my original. I have cancelled the rewrite( white runtz) and requested my discharge letter. I don't suffer from anxiety or stress but this month has finally got me to realise this company will not get any better despite all the promises of "it'll get better" The turnover of staff should also be a warning.
Originally I have written two good reviews for this company but I have deleted them because they do not reflect my experience anymore.
Most of the staff are good but I believe this problem is higher up with the owners/ board members ,cutting corners and reducing costs for maximum profit. This has massively reflected on jec's reputation as a good clinic and I can now see why half the patients have left .
Shame it took me so long to see how bad this clinic is.

Great service

I have been satisfied with the Clinic for more than 6 months now, not once have I thought about changing.

Does that mean I get the items I want, when I want them ? No. However, I understand that Jorja works with Pharmacies, that run out of stock sometimes.

Given the rise in patients, running out of stock means someone else has been treated with that stock, I wish all of us could have all our items at the same time, but I understand the pressure caused on the system.

In terms of customer service, things could always be better, but thats the same with all corporations. I personally experienced periods where it wasn’t easy to get a response (phone or email), or it wasn’t easy to get my medecine (hence why 4 stars) , but that means someone else, who is sick like me, is being tended to. While frustrating, the other side of this coin is not bad, I wish us all better health.

I understand the frustration of the many patients disappointed by the clinic. I have compassion for you. Maybe things will work out elsewhere. For me at least, things have been good enough to stay, and also write this review.

Thank you to all staff current and previous.

Can someone help me with this, please?

EDIT: I am unable to provide a direct link, but for a wider example of the issues people are having with Jorja Emerson Centre, go to the r/ukmedicalcannabis subreddit on Reddit and search "JEC" or "Jorja Emerson Centre".

I didn’t want to write this, but sadly the majority of my attempts at polite, patient and private communication haven’t gotten anywhere.

I cannot emphasise enough just how disappointing it is to receive an email telling me to contact JEC in the future if I see a clinical error on my prescription, after having sent two emails regarding said prescription that went unanswered. It does seem that my neurodiversity (effecting how I communicate) isn’t a good fit for JEC. A shame, considering that they (probably) have many neurodiverse patients who share this disconnect with communication - it's very common.

For context, I have autism. Verbal communication can be difficult at times, especially if I’m overwhelmed or distressed. This makes it hard for me to advocate for myself, and the longer this goes on, the worse it gets. I am begging for help now. I am not able to call, I won’t be able to speak.

A quick rundown:
5th October - Repeat requested
11th October - Email from JEC RE: Maverick Pharmacy. “Your prescription has been sent to them on this occasion to help expedite the process."
14th October - Email from JEC RE: Maverick Pharmacy. Follow-up to 11th October email.
15th October - Email from JEC RE: Maverick Pharmacy. A further follow-up, affirming that Maverick was chosen based on patient feedback.
18th October - (Email) Photocopy of prescription w/ Montu listed as dispensing pharmacy and dated for 31/10/2024 - a clinical error
NOTE: Also, this prescription featured a lovely stamp that the consultant had used that featured, in all caps, "ADDRESSING ADDICTIONS". I thought that this was a bit tone deaf, considering the NHS stigma and that neurodiverse patients are often forced to choose between medical cannabis or help from the NHS. It's a good job my GP won't see that.
22nd October - I emailed JEC, no response
26th October - I emailed JEC, no response
31st October - I emailed JEC. Maverick Pharmacy sent my prescription back and it was sent to Montu. The date on the prescription was a clinical error. I was then advised to contact them if this happened again in the future.
5th November - I emailed JEC, no response

I have sent another email today. That will be my last one. I can’t chase it up anymore, it’s just too stressful and distressing. Without my prescription, my health is declining, making it harder and harder for me to function. This only exacerbates the stress of this situation even further. I don’t need to put myself through this - I'm with the Jorja Emerson Clinic by choice, why would I choose this?

It's probably important to add that all my prescriptions prior to this were timely and I had no issues. However, my previous consultant has left JEC now, and this contrasting experience is upsetting.

EDIT: I've been reading the most recent reviews here and it unfortunately seems as if I am not the only one experiencing issues.

I was told that JEC switched to Maverick. However, my most recent prescription was written out to Montu. When I informed JEC that I hadn't heard back from Maverick Pharmacy, I was told "The prescription had been sent to Maverick originally but we had some issues with the pharmacy so they had sent (sic) all the prescriptions back to us and we have posted to the relevant pharmacies (patient preference)."

My preferred pharmacy was Specials. I honestly don't care which pharmacy dispenses my prescription as long as they do so in a timely manner, but the lack of transparency from JEC is worrying. To be clear: I don't care about the pharmacy switch. What is concerning is the lack of transparency and honesty.

I left JEC 3 weeks ago after a completely car crash of service provided by JEC for 6 months

I left, went to another clinic, got an appointment and a prescription in the same amount of time it takes JEC to do a rewrite

3 weeks after being discharged, they STILL charge me my monthly amount, and I need to call them to cancel it AGAIN and get a refund

JEC are (at this point) maliciously incompetent

My recommendation; Go to Alternaleaf

Awful. Ruined my summer with their criminal negligence. If you are a patient switch immediately.

Report to CQC

I had been with Jorja Emerson for around a year. I can relate to all the reviews left here over the last few months. I implore people to register your complaint with the CQC. Trust pilot won't change anything. I have been with Dr Searle who has been excellent but for the last few months they would not given me an appointment with her, despite it being part of the aftercare subscription. Month after month she was always starting a "2 week holiday". Turns out she does not work there any more. Its been a complete sham whilst they take our subscriptions. From what I can make out, there are no clinicians there at the moment. That is why other clinics are signing off on prescriptions, it is why these are taking so long, it is why they are sending our details to other companies.

Do you like being lied to? Spoken to like rubbish? Then this is the perfect provider for you.

For just 19.95 per month, you could be let down, frustrated, in continuous pain and belittled by all staff members. Expect little to no communication and no accountability.

Started brilliantly, communication transparency and lack of forward planning have derailed it

I’m not one to leave reviews, but here I am. I’m very aware that the medical cannabis patient community get a bit of a bad rep, particularly from Reddit posts etc. sometimes we seem unbelievably contrarian about things. I’m not one to get annoyed at anyone down the phone, or send snotty emails. I’ve been perfectly decent and have luckily been treated well by the generally lovely staff at the clinic so a big thank you to Kenneth and Andre for being fab if they’re still there.

Now - do not join this clinic. Just don’t. I don’t know what happened since I joined for a year in December 23 but they are a mess. They do not hire enough staff to fulfil appointments and prescriptions, their best member of staff on the clinical side is leaving/has already left. I’ve not actually experienced massive delays but it’s been getting longer and longer, no communication, documents often not shared including my actual prescription. The owner/director, Robin, does not seem to be a professional health expert (at least around medical cannabis) yet espouses weird views via the Jorja Emerson LinkedIn page and argues with others on Twitter/X which is only going to antagonise customers (let’s stop saying patients - it’s private healthcare where we pay for a functional service). Imagine getting into an argument on social media with your dentist. It is not normal.

I’m guessing they’re winding down services to the bare minimum to cover the year of subscriptions people paid for last year - would expect the MC side of things to end next year. It’s an ineffective skeleton crew at the moment. Maybe I’m a pessimist but “planned obsolescence” springs to mind.

What makes me a bit sick is that this is a more varied private healthcare company, offering diagnoses for a range of conditions. I can only assume the neglect of customers/patients must span the whole business if this is how they treat a new venture. Having been with Lyphe before who are the worst of the worst, I thought Jorja would be better - given the origin story around the name etc.

Well, here I am. Recently recovering from a traumatic brain injury, ridden with anxiety and depressive bouts, with a medication that actually works and the owner lumps me in with recreational users and treats us with equal contempt by providing a quickly declining quality of service.

Farcical, honestly shameful. I hope others receiving treatment in other areas from the org fare better but I’d take this as a warning that they’ll take a lovely lump sum of money for a service and let it go downhill 6 months in.

Will be discharging myself and claiming a refund for the remaining few months - which you’re absolutely entitled to do FYI for anyone else considering it.

The recent farce about changing who prescriptions are sent to for dispensing is also concerning. I’m sure Maverick are an okay company but nobody a) has heard of them b) was consulted on them being used. They also charge for delivery which Specials do not. Given they said that this was to speed up the turnaround in delivery times and Maverick themselves do not stock medication, it seems odd to break from the regular programming.

Anyway, take it from me. You’re worth more, the staff are too. The doctors were great when I had appointments with them but none are there anymore. The admin has slowed too much and that’s not acceptable for private healthcare, transparent communication would alleviate about 70% of the issues, but it’s just not there at all. Even little things like email confirmations of repeat prescriptions - something almost every other clinic has managed, and would show a modicum of professional admin, do not occur. Just my 2 cents after the rose tinted glasses of genuinely good service the first 6 months wore off

Such a shame

Such a shame, started off so stong.
I was a very happy patient until June, Took months to get a rewrite that never ended up happening.

Staff were dismissive and rude and actually laughed at me at one point.

The disgraceful statement released by Robin was the final nail in the coffin.

Shameful, and as the father of a patient he should know better.

Jorja Emerson Centre isn't fit to serve patients.

Delay AGAIN in sorting prescription. Jorja Emerson Centre ignored my email chasing it up. When I phoned them they lied and said Royal Mail lost it (JEC hadn't even sent it to Royal Mail yet 😂). They told me they could do nothing and I'd need to wait for an "investigation" with no ETA. Despite not being a pharmacist, it was me who suggested re-writing the prescription which they insisted they would do.

One week on, every Jorja Emerson Centre customer was sent an email saying the pharmacy they use is changing. I wasn't consulted on this and they did so without my consent. The pharmacy isn't even listed on MedBud.wiki which is unusual. Aaaand my prescription is still not here. And they're not answering the phone.

I often ignore reviews but seriously, go to the UKMedicalCannabis community on Reddit and search for "Jorja Emerson Centre" or "JEC" and you will find testimonials going back years detailing this repeated attitude to their customers.

The icing on the cake is that they still charged for my monthly fee.

they don't fill prescriptions…

they don't fill prescriptions accordingly. no contact from anyone regarding a transfer letter. seems like they don't care as long as they get their fees. leaving someone without adequate medication for 3 months is beyond a joke. you questiom how they operate and they'll straight up block you (28/08/2024)! Avoid Jorja Emerson Centre, useless would be an improvement with this lot.

Update: Yeah,i haven't but my mate has and you're ignoring his emails for a transfer, then you blocked me because i questioned why it was happening. talk about childish. enjoy the papers sniffing round and i seriously hope nobody has the misfortune to deal with the Jorja Emerson Centre. at what point did i say i was a member? i clarified that you blocked me for questioning all the issues you've had lately. even got emails from your lot so less of the attitude yeah.

Serious issues here at the moment

Serious issues here at the moment. They have gone completely dark on me for the past week, not responding to emails or answering calls. I contacted their preferred Pharmacy and they said they had been receiving a high volume of similar calls about the clinic. The Pharmacy seem to think it's due to staff holidays however according to unconfirmed chatter on Reddit, they have also lost a lot of staff recently and there are reports of staff going unpaid.

I've been a patient for 12 months and had a great experience up until recently, it seems they have overstretched themselves and now cannot cope with the volumes they are receiving. A real shame given the positive start with these guys, hopefully they manage to fix these issues!

Go with JEC if you like dissapointment

In June , I only got 1/3 of prescription items.
In July, I only got 2/3 of prescription items.

(I have since received the missing items, but because it took them so long, I have completely missed Augusts prescription.)

Meaning in August, I got 0/3 of prescription items.

They shouldnt be allowed to give such bad service if they are a medicine provider.

This is after months of giving them a heads up that I will need my medicine in time for a holiday to France in August. Which I now have had to cancel because I cannot go without full prescription.

So if you enjoy paying full membership fees, but receiving only some of your prescription, and then missing entire scripts because its taken them so long to rectify issues, meaning you miss holidays you spent alot of money on.... sign up for JEC!!!

Mind boggling disregard for patinets

From the outset the has not been a single month without issue. Not a sinlge perception without error. 19 days of waiting on couriers to fill 7 prescriptions! with their preferred pharmacy. Medications sent in error because they cant track their extraordinary levels of rewrites.
Consults unavailable for reviews because they clearly have more workload than thay can manage.
A grinding and soul destroying dumpster-fire. IMHO It should really be shut down immediately.
