It took a second attempt to buy a Bluetooth speaker.

(Edit: On May 20th I improved this rating from 2 up to 3 stars. This will be explained at the end of the review).
I went in person to my local CeX to purchase a Sony Bluetooth speaker which the website showed as in stock.
When I got home I realized that I had been sold an older and slightly smaller model than it was labelled as, both on the website and the CeX price sticker that was on the speaker. I returned it to the shop within 48 hours and was given a full refund and an apology. I told the sales assistance it's an easy mistake to make because the two speakers look similar and I could understand if the person labeling the speakers had the two different models in front of them they could quite easily mix them up.
I then ordered a black UE Boom 2 speaker labelled as Grade B, good condition. It is working fine, but I would personally categorise it as Grade C and expected it to be priced lower, as it arrived with what appears to be significant bits of orange paint/scuffs on it as well as a fair bit of dirt ingrained in its fabric.
Any items I've bought from CeX before, that have been labeled Grade B, have been in far better condition visually.

Edit, May 20th: I was subsequent to the above contacted by CeX and politely offered a voucher, which I accepted, to cover the price gap between grade B and C condition. I was also asked if I would consider updating the review and rating here if I was happy with the resolution.
I have, as said above, upped the rating from 2 to 3 stars, which I would see as average, bearing in mind that buying used goods has it's ups and downs, such as the resolution of buying the 2nd speaker balanced by the error of having been given the wrong speaker in the first place. All CeX staff I dealt with have been helpful and courteous and I say thanks for that. Overall, a couple of likely unintentional errors turned a 10 minute cash purchase shopping experience into a few extra hours spent with follow up research and communication. These things happen.

Apple Mac Mini purchased online was activation locked

I bought an Apple Mac Mini online.

When it arrived the product was activation locked to another user, rendering it useless. I contacted support - thankfully they issued a refund (no gesture of goodwill) after I dropped it back to store.

As we deal in used items, data deletion is the most crucial part of our testing process and we request customers to delete all the data / associated accounts from the device. We then do another courtesy check to ensure no previous data/accounts are left behind on any of the devices that are traded in.

I've noticed that along with suggesting a solution via email by my colleague, feedback has been cascaded to the relevant store so that they can take relevant measures to avert such instances in the future.

I truly appreciate you returning the item to us for a refund and if given a chance, we'll aim to serve you better.

Was sent the wrong item

Was sent the wrong item, despite correct order. Contacted about replacement but all they offered was for me to return the wrong one at my expense, for a refund of the item cost. Waste of time and money.

Store staff are expected to check the items before dispatch to ensure they are complete and in a saleable condition, along with being free from any passwords or screen locks, so they are ready for use by the customer. Don't think I would buy from again

Phone is good other than a label on phone saying Mic sounds horrible. Phone also wasn't reset with previous customers info on it which I reset myself. Reached out and got a good response from customer service but options are to come and get phone reset in shop but I did myself. The mic does sound horrible. I am surprised they didn't see label or just took phone in and graded it and sold it without doing anything. Previous must have told them Mic sounds horrible as he had looked it up in his search history. I don't know but I don't want to take in and be stuck with no phone and it's just hassle. I use headphones mostly anyway but don't think I will use cex again.

We deal in used items, and one of the crucial checks in our testing parameters is to ensure no data/accounts belonging to the previous owner are left on the device. Data deletion and account removal are mandatory before getting the item for a sale, where, after suggesting that customers do this, we then do another courtesy check.

Along with this, we have testing guidelines in place where the functionality of the items are checked, and only once they pass the set parameters, they are purchased and sold forward. I would like to assure you that this case has already been forwarded to the respective management of the store involved and based on the final findings, procedural assessment will be undertaken.
