Great company and great idea. I've been using fat lama for a while now and have both acted as a lender and a renter. 5* experience both ends, and a fast payout. I rented high value equipment too with no problems.

Great site. Super cheap for renting camera kit when I need it. I’ve been renting my own kit out for a few months now too and making some nice passive income. I once had a renter steal my camera and FatLama’s insurance covered everything and they even paid for me to rent replacemtent kit while it was being sorted.

I'm a lender and have just completed my sixth loan. I appreciate a lot of the negative reviews on this page relate to fake reviews and gumtree poaching but my personal experience has been nothing short of brilliant. It allows me to rent out of camera equipment when it would otherwise just sit in my camera bag. I’ve also really enjoyed meeting the guys that have rented my equipment out. Everyone’s been really friendly and overall it’s been great fun and a great way of making a bit of money on the side.

A huge waiste of time. I signed up. They gave Me £25 free so as I am a filmmaker and am unable to afford drone I dec8ded to rent a DJI Mavic for 1 day. I paid the fee uploaded my I'd documents and they said to me your trust waiting is not high enough to lend. What does that even mean??

Untrustworthy Company with poor customer support and Fake reviews which Trustpilot has uncovered.

I have not been paid for my last rental although the borrower paid on time - he is unaware that the money did not reach me

Initially it was OKish, a lot of hidden rules but explained clearly by their staff via online chat.

Then I convinced myself to try my first rental which will have a £20 discount by using a promo code. That was not straightforward at all, as by default one can only rent items separately and there is a minimum spending amount required for that code, so I was advised to ask the lender to combine the two items I want to meet that requirement. The lender very kindly did and sent me an offer so I accepted it and afterwards there was nowhere to put the promo code.

The rental experience with the lender is very smooth, excellent gears and very nice chap.

But when I saw the full amount deducted from my account without any discount applied I contacted fatllama wondering if they can do anything about it the answer is a hard no because apparently there was a text box above the 'accept offer' button to put the code and it was paid out already (I really struggle to understand what 'paid out' has to do with my request, seemingly the discount was supposed to be taken from the lender's earning but not out of fatllama's pocket? how generous!!!). I looked through the messages I received and can confirm in the offer message there wasn't such a text field for the promo code.

The discount amount was no big deal but I do not think this company will be easy to deal with when there are money issues, they are certainly not there to provide customer-oriented services. As such a simple request will be easily met if I contact any of my usual suppliers or services providers, who wouldn't want a happy return customer for more business?

I don't want to imagine if anything goes wrong and there is a claim. Certainly won't be as easy as it sounds.

Glad to see Trustpilot has flagged this company for a large number of fake reviews. They seem to think it acceptable to send unsolicited text messages to your phone and then what others have flagged about, unnecessary personal details demanded to use their service. I can't believe the supposedly responsible people who have funded this venture with £££millions don't hold them accountable for the flagrant bad practices they use. What makes it worse is they've been called out on this for a while now but choose to continue. DON"T USE THIS SITE

Get renting your unused stuff on Fat Lama you will not regret it.

This idea of renting your unused stuff is great and websites like Fat Lama allow to have a far greater reach, which will maximise your earnings.

The website is easy to use. Any problems and The Lamas (Customer Service Team) are always there to help.

We list our folding campers for hire and the team have helped us get many bookings, they are always ready to help if we need any help however small.

I love fat lama. So easy to rent and borrow items, and super secure with id verification. Chris was very helpful when i messed up and needed to cancel a booking, and got me a refund!

Signed up on the service, not knowing there was any "fee". When signing up for a service it must be made clear that there are "fees" using the service as a lender. Posted my ad as a lender. I realised there were fees only by asking customer support because I received "first £20 are on us" offer. Really shady stuff going on here!

They say there is insurance, but I've seen people being robbed or ripped of because that was not covered by the insurance. Not official insurance terms found before posting. Another bad practice. When receiving a borrower's request I've accepted and a popup asked me to add a bunch of personal documents. I deleted my account right there!

Completely dishonest and they break the law. Do not touch with a bargepole. Any company that breaks privacy laws by sending unsolicited text messages deserves to fail. Use at your peril.

Love it so far. Borrowed my first guitar pedal for £8 for 3 days, played a gig and worked perfectly.

Ok, those guys are hackers. DO NOT GIVE ANY OF YOUR INFORMATIONS.
You fill up everything to log in, then to veriffy your account they ask you to send an email from an e-mail address that is other than the one you first used. Ok. Then they tell to send another picture of your face + your id or driving license reversed. Then, they ask you TO SEND THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS. So W*F? Once they asked that I started checking what was wrong with them, and found out that yes, they are hackers.
They use a real money secured platform, so you can "rent" something before being verified so that it makes it more credible.
Now that I nicely told them to go f*c* themselves, my email account has been hacked. I cannot access it anymore.
So the next thing I am going to do is, ask for a new passport. And if you also gave an identity picture, change your papers as well.

Super spammy site. They keep calling me. No idea how they got my website. I did give them a try and the site sucks. Plus it seems like they don't really have insurance. And it doesn't seem like they vet the people on the site. I've been getting really spammy messages on my fat lama profile.

Dishonest company using adverts on gumtree to try and drum up business for a "lending" website. They send texts out saying -

Clearly there isn't a person you can get back to. The number that was used is 07441914090. Starting off with a lie to potential customers, so where does it go from there? I would not trust them. Shame there isn't a zero star rating.

Not long Fat lama before your all arrested and shut down you are destroying peoples lives you are nothing but a fraudulent company you get all your leads off Gumtree then pester people. 90% of your adds are false and or scams as soon as trading standards open today I am reporting you and little do you know but I can track where your mobile texts are coming from, right to the door. You are nothing short of gangsters.
