Hired a van from the Warrington branch. Service was very efficient and professional. Staff very friendly. The van was absolutely spotless. Thank you to the men who are responsible for preparing the vehicles. Highly recommended. Will definitely return. Well done.

Embarrassingly amateurish...

Hired a van from County online. Turned up on time to collect the van the day after, initially they couldn’t find my booking.. Eventually when found we did the verification.
I produced my “valid” passport, my current driving license showing my accurate address, my latest wage slip showing my national insurance number, the credit card I had used to make the booking, and offered a selection of other credit/bank cards.
I was told that this was not enough to verify my identity and they wanted something that had been mailed to me.. I offered to demonstrate my address as available on banking/credit card apps and websites, but was told that was not acceptable and anything I had printed at home was not acceptable either, again it was reiterated it must be something that have been mailed to me.

What on earth do you expect people to produce???? As a result, I was turned away from the desk unable to take the van…

Do yourself a huge favour when considering car or a van hire, it will save you a lot of time and effort to hire from a professional company.

I have been using County for several months as we occasionally need large vans for business use. I have always found their rates competitive and the vehicles are clean and safe. The office team are courteous and helpful. This week I hired a Sprinter for a couple of days and was pleasantly surprised to get a new van with aircon and a reversing camera. Just before I returned the van I noticed 2 long scratches running the full length of the offside. On closer inspection it appeared that the long lines were not scratches but surface marks. (I wet my finger and the mark rubbed out) so I filled it up and returned the van. Whilst sat in the office I was informed that the van was damaged (Long scratches on the offside) and my £500 deposit would be withheld pending the vehicle being washed and inspected. Not Happy obviously, but I agreed to let them carry out the inspection and waited for their phone call. Having read some of the reviews I was prepared for a battle but Emma called me this morning to explain that although there were trace scratches after the van was washed they would buff out and my £500 would be refunded. I want to thank Emma for her honesty and the professional way she handled the incident and I will continue to be a regular customer.

Dreadful experience with County car and van rental. I wish I had read the reviews first!!!! Took the van out this morning. It was late in arriving at the Oldham branch so a hasty walk around the van and a hand over. Brought the van back at 4.15 to be told that they we’re keeping my £500 deposit due to damage on the side of the vehicle. The damage was clearly old/previous damage as the scratches had old dirt and grime embedded in the scratch. I’d it was new damage the scratches would be ‘clean’. Oh the other thing is that only I drove the vehicle today and didn’t hit a thing. A call with Oldham council trading standard is in order as a blind man on a foggy day could see the damage is not consistent with something that had occurred today or even this week. A customer waited for me in the car park as he witnessed the exchange in the office. He told me he had experienced the same ‘scam’. How do they get away with it? Can’t wait for the reply from County regarding this.

I would not touch this company with a barge pole, as soon as problem occured nothing but trouble, thought it sorted, i set up a payment of £200 per month, they stopped taking the payment so i waited and cancelled the payment and now after 18months without any warning i have received a letter from a debt collector, feel ashamed and so angry

Appalling customer service, under no circumstances should you rent anything from them.
Especially the Oldham branch.

Very impressed with the service and the team. I hired a van for 2 days for a house move. There were some complications with the van and I had to bring it back in after the first day. I was stretched for time with having to get out of a storage unit but the team were straight on it, put me to the front of the queue and I was back on the road within 20 mins. Very professional company and one which seems to genuinely care about customers. Will 100% be using them again.

Terrible company and terrible customer service! Stay away at all costs!! I cracked some plastic on a van and they tried to get me to fix other damage that I had not caused when they quoted me the repair price and then sent an invoice for thousands of pounds when the price had already been agreed and paid! Now having to seek legal advice and take matters further.

Hired a VW Camper for 10 days in December; great service, no hidden extras, just a straightforward and sensible approach. Pricing is very competitive especially for longer periods, and mileage can be set at a reasonable level depending on where you want to go.

Hired from the Oldham branch; nice people doing a good professional job.

No faults. Good all round 👍🏿

Totally avoid Oldham over a scratch on rear door taken deposit not willing to listen customers view was raining heavy took a van in rush then kept deposit customer service was shocking dreadful behaviour from staff members.

Fantastic service from start to finish. We rented a VW Transporter from the Warrington office and it was brilliant. When I called for a quote, the lady called back straight away with the cost. The employees take great care in their vehicles and showed us round and highlighted the extremely small amount of damage so we were aware. Will most certainly hire from them again.

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful to deal with making the booking procedure very straight forward. The vehicle was exactly as advertised, clean and well maintained. Really positive experience. Would highly recommend.

I recently purchased a used Ford Transit Custom MJ64 DVB from County Car and Van Rental Stockport branch which at first to the untrained eye looked good but after driving 190 miles back home and getting it checked over from a local garage they informed me that the whole drivers side had be damaged/crashed and repaired to a very poor and possibly dangerous standard. I phoned to ask why I was never made aware of this when enquiring or even flying down to see the vehicle but they denied the vehicle ever having any damage or repair work done on it at all, I was then asked to put it in an email what I thought was wrong so the local garage was kind enough to do so for me. After County had read the email they admitted it had previously been repaired and I would be able to get a full refund if I brought it back. Once I had travelled 4 hours back to County with the van the manager i had been dealing with was nowhere to be seen and the staff I dealt with were not made aware of the circumstances nor expecting me. Upon conducting their return vehicle check, they proceeded to accuse me of not returning the spare wheel with the van. This was never with the van in the first instance however when telling the staff this, they struggled to beleive me! So after being mis sold the van and being £300 in travelling expenses down, I eventually got my money back within a few days. However the customer service i received was appalling with no telephone call to advise my money had been returned and to date i have not recevied an apology for the deceit and mis selling of the van. In my opinion County have not taken any accountability for their mis leading sale and their conduct after the sale shows sheer lack of professionalism and customer satifaction. Furthermore, County were already advertising the van for sale again before i returned it and are still not making other potential buyers aware of the poor repair work this van has had.

Our lorry had broken down and we had spoken to a gentleman in the Warrington branch with regards to hiring a van. This was on June 5th and after giving him details we got a taxi to the office. On arrival unfortunately he was not able to help in our instance BUT he went the extra mile. He spent about 15 minutes on the phone and found us an alternative company that was able to help. A brilliant piece of Customer service. Unfortunately I can not remember his name but he deserves a bonus !!!! Thank you very much !!

Hired a Toyota Hilux over the Easter week from Warrington branch.
Booked over the phone with James , they do require a lot of information from the hirer, so be sure to speak to them before your hire date.
Great vehicle and competitive pricing.
Used the meet and greet on Sunday to return the vehicle, which was easy and saved having to lose work time on Monday.
Definitely will hire again from County. 😀

excellent staff, Mike, Gareth nd especially Chris, happiest driver ever. Van was clean and performed well, 1k miles in 3 days, would recommend.

Hired a range rover evoque on a special deal for 16 days. Car was as advertised and relatively quick checking in and out process.

Friendly staff at the Stockport branch. We asked for free pick up and drop off with our luggage and they kindly obliged.

Would use again and recommend.

From booking to returning I experienced great customer service. The staff were all very helpful and informative. Also good range of vans to hire.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS - In branch customer service, amazing can't fault it, area manager wouldn't know what good customer service is if it hit her in the face... Booked and confirmed a curtain side truck online, the truck I wanted was unavailable, so the office offered me a box truck for the two days hire PLUS kindly offered a third day FREE as the job would take longer, collected the truck, great hand over and away I went, I was called on the morning of the third day to see how things were going, said I would have the truck back to them later... On my return I was told that I had to pay for the previously agreed FREE day, needless to say the area manager wasn't around to tell me this.. The rental agreement clearly states ONE day FREE.. What kind of a company goes back on an agreement??? the kind that already has £750 deposit and do whatever they please... If I had been told that the truck I wanted was unavailable I would have cancelled my booking and gone elsewhere... Will be contacting trading standards to investigate.....
