Toll Fees

Following using Zitauto for in excess of 10 years, I have during the last 3 months received Penalty Charge Notices from EPC plc amounting to £450.
Toll Charges £71 the rest is Admin Fees (Portuguese Law No 25/2006), and Administration costs.
These date back to 2018 some 5 YEARS AGO. I think that the charges are now up to date, why its taken this amount of time to sort out is beyond me.
Had Zitautos made this toll charge readily available I would of course paid it at the time.
The service provided by Zitautos is generally faultless regarding the delivery and return of the cars etc.
I will not be using them in the future unless the vehicles have been fitted with transponders, and Zitautos somehow recover the journey back down the A22 and pay the toll fee.

Disgraceful service

Disgraceful service. Just like all the previous posts: we rented for 10 days and they led us to believe the final toll ( impossible to pay unless you are in the area for 48 hours) would be paid. Fast forward 28 months and we get a bill from a third party for over £18...... repeated e-mails claiming that various things have changed...... we usefmd them 2 years previously and this final toll was paid by them. I thinknthat their admin have realised this to late and now have called on us all to pay. Shameful behaviour

Terrible company

Told us the hire car fee included use of the motorway, 12 months later we're hit with EUR240 in Admin fees and toll fees. We're definitely never using this crowd of cowboys again.

Bad Toll practice

Have been using ZitAuto for several years and, like others, was assured the almost unavoidable toll on the final day return to Faro airport would be sorted by them. Looks like they have now given up everyone's outstanding toll history as have just been billed for October 2022, some 11 months after the event. They may have changed their policy now but there must have been a better way to settle the issue. We were billed £49.44 for tolls totalling 4.08€

Penalty Charge Notice

Having happily used Zitauto for the last decade I've also just received an EPC plc penalty notice charge for the final return journey to Faro on the A22 in October 2022. Toll charge is £2.50 with additional Admin fees taking the total to £17.62.

When i asked what was different this time in that the final charge hasn't been paid (I'd say it's good business & customer service sense for them to pay the £2.00 in comparison with the £650+ rental we paid to secure future business surely?!) they just weren't interested and said toll charges are our responsibility.

It would have been so easy for Zitauto to pay this minimal amount as they obviously have previously done, or warned us on returning the vehicle, or even any time in the last year prior to the penalty notice to contact me. They weren't interested in offering credit against a future booking either for this amount.

Although this now looks an historical issue as transponders have been fitted to the cars apparently, expect a fine if you hired a car last year.

By the way, we just used a taxi to and from Faro this year and Uber where we were staying..worked out at about a third of the cost of car hire..it's a competitive world and Zitauto have lost any future business I'm afraid!

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague.

Been travelling to, and Hiring vehicles in the algarve for 15 years.

Last summer used zit auto. When asking about the toll payments, staff told me that this was covered in rental costs - odd given every other rental company that we’ve used before has charged upfront, but thought nothing of it.

Fast forward to October 2023, just received a fine from a 3rd party collection company, for a €3 toll fee.

Fine on the letter now totals £18 with administration and collection fees.

Not about the money, but the principle.

Same story with numerous other renters from our area.

My recommendation - use another firm who have measures in place for toll payments, and don’t operate out of the boot of a car in the arrivals car park.

Aconcelho sem duvida

Aluguei uma carrinha de 9 lugares por 15 dias, apanhei a carrinha no aeroporto, colaboradores muito simpaticos e tudo muito simples e facil. No dia 13 infelizmente a carrinha avariou no meio da A22, liguei de imediato para o numero que me foi dado em caso de emergencia, fui logo atendida pelo senhor Ricardo (peço desculpa se nao é o nome). Em menos de 50 minutos ja estava com uma nova carrinha e sem qualquer stress ou dramas. Para deixar a carrinha no arroporto tambem foi super simples e pratico.
Aconcelho 200% e sem duvidas vou voltar a alugar carro com esta companhia que nao deixa nada a desejar. Obrigado por tudo o que fizeram por nos

Zitauto 12 day car hire from Faro

Used Zitauto for 12 day car hire from Faro. Initially sceptical and considered going with one of the big names in car rental but Zitauto was recommend by our host so we went with them. We were met by a nice team, pickup was very quick and easy, the team spoke brilliant English and were very friendly and knowledgeable. Car was just as requested/paid for, very new and comfortable. Had no issues the whole time. Drop off was fuss free and the whole thing was a real pleasure. We will definitely use Zitauto next time.

je réserve 3 à 4 fois par an avec cette compagnie et jamais eu de soucis. c'est une entreprise hyper sérieuse. Ma dernière expérience avec eux : une réservation de 3 semaines au mois de Août 2023. et encore une fois super expérience. Véhicule à chaque fois quasi neuf et hyper propre. Je recommande vivement.

Always there for you.

We have been using Zit Auto for many years when we visit the Algarve. They provide no fuss and friendly service with a range of quality cars at sensible prices. Easy to find when coming out of the Terminal building and normally a quick turnaround. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we shall see you again next may 2024

J'ai loué avec ce loueur l'année passé tout était bien j'ai eu un Renault captur très propre je retourne demain louer a nouveau service au top

ZitAuto highly recommended

Highly recommend ZitAuto used them several times now booked via website then decided to upgrade via the phone - no issues at all nearly new Renault clio very clean

Great service, great price !

First time I've used Zitauto after visiting the Algarve for 20 years, but won't be the last ! Much cheaper than all the rest, right outside arrivals in car park 2 at Faro airport - pick up took 10 minutes, when we dropped it off it was literally 30 seconds, Definitely would recommend

Over the top rate increase

I have used Zitauto for over 15 years and always been impressed with them. I used to recommend them to friends and family.
But they are taking liberties with their current pricing.
I understand difficulties car hire companies have experienced during the covid crisis and they have to get their feet back on the ground but they cannot possibly justify a 100% increase on a 10 day rental in just 5 weeks.

In March a group H car was €140
A quote for a Group H car in May is €280.

I pleaded my longevity as a (very) long term customer and simply received a reply stating May will be their "middle season" with a smiley face.

A seasonal rise is understandable but raising prices by 100% ? I would have accepted 50%.

I hate to think of their price increase for high season.

We appreciate your feedback. All of them count for us, as they will contribute to the improvement of our services.

As you mentioned, March is a month of low season and as such, it is when all companies considerably lower their prices to combat low demand from customers. May is already middle season, and therefore has a different price on its basis. It should also be considered that, as in all markets in general, the automotive sector has seen a considerable increase and we have chosen to renew our fleet after the pandemic. For this reason, our prices have increased proportionally to the increases in the new cars we purchase.

In any case, we can be proud of having the best prices on the market and we look forward to see you soon again.

Recommend and will use again.

Didn't have any issues with the car or the service. Quick drop off which is always welcome when departing early and short on time. Would recommend this company 04/2023

Amazing Rental Company 5 stars well deserved

Used this car firm on numerous occasions absolutely amazing, fair prices no extra hidden costs if you go into Spain, other car rentals charge extra for this. Could not fault this rental firm, use roughly 3 times every year. Only 1 downside if you use the toll road to Spain you have to go back to Portugal to pay as you cannot pay up front, but it’s a small price to pay for a superb rental firm. Thank you all at Zitauto for your continuing excellence
