24 hour cancellation period? You wish!!
My partner bought a ticket online today 05th June 24 at 2:30 pm from Riyad to IST (departure: 01/07/24) . At 3:30 pm today (only one hour later) we realised we booked the wrong date. The original ticket cost totalled 824 sar. I’ve always known airlines to grant a 24 hour period when you can correct mistakes, but not T.K. NO! As we tried to cancel the flight on the website, the maximum TK would refund was 137 sar out of 824 sar. We tried “change ticket” but the charge was 505 sar which made no sense. So my partner called customer service which charged him 647 sar to change the flight to 28.06.24. I simply cannot believe this nonsense. Fast forward to 09/04/25… Yesterday I bought a ticket from Antalya to Istanbul on the wrong date, also with Turkish Airlines, and got a full refund. Weird!

The worst experiences I had to go through. I feel cheated and have not received any response to my complaint. I reserved seats for €180. A heavily intoxicated man who could barely walk had a seat in row 24. The lady next to him rightly complained, which is why he was put in a row with 4 seats. Even before the plane took off, a number of passengers occupied seats on their own or placed their bags on the seats in various rows in order to change seats during the flight. I then said that as a disabled person with autism, I couldn't sit next to a smelly man. Even though the plane was relatively empty, the crew refused! To ask passengers who had placed their bags on seats to make room for me so that I, who had paid €180, would not be punished with the alcoholic. Why don't you help the woman in row 24 and a disabled person?
I documented everything with photos. I have rarely been in such need and feel cheated out of the money from the reservation, which was already far too expensive. The guests who didn't pay anything sat better. That wasn't all: I got the wrong food and the same food twice. But there's more: because the plane was late, they simply left my suitcase in Istanbul for more than 20 hours. I landed shortly after 10:00 a.m. at 40° and heard that my suitcase is still in Istanbul... that's the penultimate stop before the destination! incredible. At 40° in jeans and sneakers without sunscreen, medication that I urgently need, swimwear, etc.
TA also didn't say when the suitcase would arrive and unfortunately it didn't arrive on Sunday either. I then went to sleep at 11 p.m.
As an autistic person, it is not possible for me to get through a day like this unscathed.
My feet are injured, I have severe side effects because I unexpectedly stopped taking the medication and the first few days of the package tour are an absolute disaster. The stress I had with TA, who to date has not contacted me in any way, is simply inexcusable and relevant to damages. My feet are dark blue and full of blisters. In addition, an employee put a bottle of water in my backpack because the plane was late. Unfortunately she had already opened the bottle and damaged my new iPad.
The package tour must be reimbursed. Furthermore, my suitcase stood in the sun for many hours, which is why various cosmetic items burst and leaked. There are photos here too. I have severe side effects due to the lack of medication, I couldn't go on the excursions of the first two days, which threw my entire travel plans overboard. When I contacted the clerk in Hamburg, who also pre-ordered my food, she said the head office in Istanbul was responsible. Now, as a disabled person, I can't even hope that my complaint will be forwarded; I had to report it in Istanbul. This took many hours even though I'm on vacation! and yet, the airline hasn't let anything be heard from. After consulting with my family, we will hire an international lawyer and enforce the law here without compromise. Shame on you for dealing with paying customers, specifically people with special needs. You have to be drunk to receive special treatment on a Turkish airline. I'm completely distraught and there's no vacation.

Bought a 3 leg ticket, first flight was cancelled and they NEVER reprogrammed my flight. Each time with a new excuse.

Verdens ringeste flyselskab. Deres hjemmeside virker ikke optimalt og kommer hele tiden op med forskellige fejl ved ind-checkning. Man kan kun tage telefonisk kontakt til dem og det er ikke muligt for alle når man sidder i udlandet. Og så er de ekstrem dyre ifht tilkøb af bagage.
Ticket apparently did not exist when…
Ticket apparently did not exist when getting to the airport. I booked a return for my father and received the itinerary on our emails. He travelled out of the country fine, but upon return we could just not check in online. I called customer service and it said the booking does not exist, and has to rebook. There is no such ticket with his name. As he was already at the airport at this point, the staff mentioned the same. Luckily, as he had the itinerary printed, and boarding pass from his outbound flight, staff used their own discretion to let him on the plane but it is just unnecessary. They need to sort the systems out because that should not happen. The lady on the phone was adamant he would need to buy a new ticket. He is an old man with limited use of technology - it needs sorting out.
Clueless and useless
I have booked, changed and upgraded a ticket several times with the airline. All done online, no pain. But when I decided to cancel my ticket, all the pain kicked in.
I couldn't do it online. I tried incessantly, it didn't work. So I called the customer centre. I was put on hold several times listening to mumbles about manual and online processes. And then I was told to fill out a form on the website about ticketing issues.
I protested but was shut up by my agent and her invisible superior whom passengers are not allowed to speak to. They suggested pursuing a "ticketing issue" form on the website which would eventually lead to much desired refund nirvana.
It would not. Because when I submitted the form (9941230) I was told I had to wait for 7 days to get a response or call another number to get a faster response. But there were only 2 days left until take-off. And so the hellish vicious circle began.
I called back customer services. Despite telling them right at the beginning what my problem was, they put me through the exact same loop only to arrive at the same solution. Then I surprised them with the website form number.
That is when I got to speak to another agent from the website form department who must have watched too many Monty Python shows. As entertaining as he was, he could not help. All he could do was file an urgency request to a department even they cannot speak to.
I have spent almost 2 hours of my life to arrive at the dead end of a dead end. I have so many questions. But I know nobody is interested. Quite honestly, I believe this is the worst customer experience I have ever been subjected to by an airline.
And Turkish Airlines still owe me $2,430.78. Please pay my money back.

I cut my finger because of the damaged handle, afterwards the Lost&Found didn´t take my claim, but told me to do it online. Indifferent food I can handle, but being messed around like they have just done to us in the Seychelles, where they cancelled the flight back (small number of passengers, so why don't we just cancel and stuff them all together on a later flight...), put us in a second rate hotel, after keeping us waiting for hours and hours in the airport, and after warning us just 3 hours before departure time. And then they say we can book on next flight on Emirates followind day, so we fill in all the covid forms, do an expensive PCR for Emirates, and then they cancel that to push us back onto Turkish flight the day after. NEVER AGAIN WITH TURKISH AIRLINES. SHOULD HAVE PAID ATTENTION TO THE WARNINGS I HEARD BEFORE....
The worst airline ever
There are some pretty poor airlines out there but this company are hands down the WORST I have ever encountered!! Absolutely will never book with them again. I highly recommend Pegasus Airlines for people looking to book flights to Turkey. We made a typo on my husband's name when booking return flights to Turkey through a travel agent - we booked Pegasus on the outward journey, Turkish air on return. Pegasus Air - absolutely brilliant, answered the phone immediately, helped us sort and within 24 hours had new tickets. Turkish air however, I have spent 3 days now being passed between the travel agent to Turkish air to find out Turkish Air will not rectify the error (FWIW we would have been happy to pay a fee), and learnt we cannot travel and will have to book a whole new ticket. Disgusting treatment, inflexible unfair terms and conditions and ridiculous policy when someone in customer service could easily rectify! In these covid times I highly recommend you AVOID AVOID AVOID and find a more friendly airline with reasonable policies and better customer service! (Sorry if you keep seeing this message but I'm planning on posting it many times on every platform to warn others).

La compagnie a annulé mon vol sans motif malgré mes plaintes appels mails et relance ne veulent pas me rembourser de mes 880€ Et classe mon dossier en me disant que j’ai demandé un avoir alors que ce que je demande depuis le début est un remboursement et je suis dans mon droit par contre imposer un avoir qui n’est même pas disponible est plus que malhonnête ne voyagez jamais avec cette compagnie qui se feras un plaisir de vous raccrocher au nez après 30 minutes d’attente pour les avoir FUYEZ !!!

Worst airline! I booked a ticket online and everything was fine until Turkish airlines cancelled my return flight! When I first contacted them they said since they had cancelled the flight they would change the ticket but my status was showing 'Child' (because I selected Miss as my title, Turkish Airlines classifies that as a child over riding my d.o.b)
Once the Child status was overcome they changed their story saying I have to contact my travel agent to change it! BEWARE Turkish airlines is unreliable, their customer service is atrocious and their advisers all make up excuses not to help you! First and last time I use this airline, if it wasn't for Covid I would just cancel the flight altogether!
Very embarrassing behaviour
Turkish Airlines does not respect EU law. In the case of flight delays, the company must compensate passengers. But they do not want to do that and try to make excuses for a long time for meaningless false excuses. They then offer nonsensical compensations that are far from what they are supposed to compensate under EU regulations. It's very embarrassing behavior. The company simply decided not to respect the law, or to violate it directly.
