Move to Scotland

We contacted your move a few months ago about a rental property we had seen in Scotland, they have been so supportive and helpful throughout the whole process and any advice of anything we need they have gotten back to us straight away!

WITHHOLDING RENT FROM A RECENTLY WIDOWED LANDLORD – DISGUSTING
Absolutely appalled by Your Move Brighton. They are currently withholding rent money that belongs to my recently widowed aunt. Instead of supporting a vulnerable client during an incredibly difficult time, they are keeping her funds. We have been forced to hire a solicitor just to get the money she is legally owed. Completely heartless, zero communication, and utterly unprofessional. Avoid this company at all costs if you expect to actually receive your rent.

We are very sorry to hear of the stress this situation has caused your aunt during what is clearly a very difficult time.

However, we must clarify that we were legally required to obtain specific documentation before releasing funds, in order to ensure compliance and protect all parties involved. Since being informed of the missing rent on Friday, we have spoken with your aunt several times a day and also requested the required documentation from the solicitor multiple times.

The necessary documents were received on Wednesday morning, and the funds were transferred that same afternoon.

We appreciate that delays in these circumstances can be upsetting, but at no point were funds being “withheld” improperly, and we acted as promptly as possible once the legal requirements had been satisfied.

We have spoken with your aunt since then who is now pleased that the situation has been resolved and thanked our team for our help.

Put my mind at ease.

Susan came over today for a quick annual visit for our landlord, to take photos and check how everything is going at the property. Despite always being a bit nerve-wracking, the visit was great, Susan was very friendly and professional and put my mind at ease. Thanks!

I can’t thank the team at the Wallsend branch for all their support and help during the process of selling my mams house. Sarah the branch manager went above and beyond with emails and getting answers to questions. Harry picking the phone up Jess arranging viewings. Top class service from start to finish.

Disappointing.

I was extraordinarily disappointed by this outfit. Throughout my tenancy, they continually showed high regard for the landlord and low regard for us as tenants.

For example, when a brown fluid was leaking out in our bathroom, Your Move determined that fixing it was not a priority. At this time, we were told that a lack of heating in winter would be a priority. However, when our boiler failed that December, we were advised that we were still not a priority.

At the end of our tenancy, they were sluggish to return our deposit. We requested the undisputed sum to be returned but - in contradiction to the terms - they failed to do so within agreed timelines.

Don’t use this branch by any means

I rented through this branch from September 2024 to June 2025, and the experience was unacceptable from start to finish.

The property went for months without proper heating, making it extremely difficult to live in. This was reported repeatedly, including the impact on health and daily living, yet no proper action was taken to resolve it. Communication was inconsistent and only happened when it suited the agency, not when issues actually needed dealing with.

After leaving (which they agreed to early due to the condition of the property), I disputed the deposit immediately. What followed was months of being completely ignored. I made over 25 phone calls and sent multiple emails across several months without receiving a single response.

The deposit (£1,153.84) was never returned. Instead of addressing the issue, responsibility has been avoided.

Due to the lack of response and failure to resolve this properly, I have now had to open a county court claim to recover the money.

This experience shows a clear lack of accountability, poor communication, and disregard for tenant welfare once a tenancy ends. Based on how this was handled, I would not trust this branch again and would strongly advise others to be cautious.

I understand that there was limited heating at the property during your tenancy. To help address this, the landlord provided additional heaters and deducted both the cost of the heaters and their running costs from your rent. The landlord also agreed to an early release from the tenancy as a gesture of goodwill. I also note that you requested for all repair works to commence after the tenancy had ended. We provided information on how to raise a dispute regarding your deposit through the tenancy deposit protection scheme. As no dispute was received within the 95-day timeframe, the deposit was requested by the landlord inline with My Deposits procedures.

Great service by all the staff
