I spoke with a very good advisor based in Chicago. I liked him and communicated well with him. Unfortunately, he could not help me, because I am an American citizen living outside the USA. He did not know this when we first spoke. But, he found out that it was not legal,, and he and his company could get in trouble. It seems absurd to me that an American living abroad cannot get financial guidance from a professional in the US. What else is new with our insane government?

WiserAdvisor is a great place to get matched with financial advisors. Several of the Advisors I was matched with were known to me, one I had been considering making my advisor. I went with an advisor that i was unaware of before the WiserAdvisor match. The list of financial advisors was very good and what I was looking for when I started my search. It definitely helped me focus in on my searching.

Asked for referral to a full service firm. All we got were guys who's sole focus was taking over our portfolio.

Recommended advisors did not reflect my request. Wanted a local firm that I could deal with face to face.
One Recommended firm was half way across the country another was close, but still not really local.

They were hands-on and tried to help me anyway they could. I just wanted my adviser just a little bit closer.

I took the time to speak with each firm and ultimately decided to work with one of the financial advisors recommended by WiserAdvisor.

My adviser,Dan Goldstein was very thoughtful. He treated me with respect and he listened patiently to my anecdotes about the old days.

WiserAdvisor gave me a place to start, which I greatly needed. However, I fear I began the process prematurely and now feel I should have waited longer and done more research before taking advantage of WiserAdvisor’s services.

I was provided three potential financial advisor firms within the criteria I asked for. So far, the three have followed up within my needs and some have provided good information for me to move forward.

Of the two recommended financial advisors one did not offer the service that I had asked for and the other one does offer that service but also has a conflict of interest by having another division that actually provides investments so it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for so I may still end up using the second one

Three advisors, knew I was seeking a second opinion, gave full attention to my needs and listened to my questions. They related their answers, first with generic, then more detailed info. They thanked me for reaching out. Contact info was provided for any follow-up, if needed.

The representative that called me was so knowledgeable and very friendly. She seemed to understand that I have a lot to learn and explained what there firm does and how it differs from others. Awesome
