When I eventually get through to someone, twice, I could barely hear them (I do not suffer with a hearing impairment). The volume on their phones is set so low you can only just make out what they are saying.

What a joke of a company I contacted them weeks ago asking for an update on how much I have left to pay and they just ignore the request. As they wont inform me then I will be contacting the financial ombudsman.

This has been my 4th contact? In the last two weeks. I have requested over and over a settlement with clear details on so the balance can be paid but It’s like trying to get blood out of a stone!
However, this is not the advisors I have spoken too’s issue they have been nothing but polite and have always tried their hardest to rectify the issue but it seems once it’s pushed up the chain of command that’s where it goes wrong. You’d think they would want it paid?!

We called to review our finances and, despite a bad connection, we finally agreed that astronomic household bills had negated our pension increases. It was accepted that we were in no position to increase our paymnents. All this was conducted in a friendly manner.

I don't normally leave reviews, as I prefer to share my feedback directly. However, this time I felt it was important to write one because I was going through a very difficult period.
Every person I spoke to was kind, compassionate, empathetic, and professional. They listened without judgment, treated me with respect, and made me feel genuinely supported during one of the toughest times in my life.

Not updating balances after receiving monthly payments through StepChange.
PRA Group UK as the legal owners of my debt outsourced it to Wescot without informing me. Regardless, of the outsourcing, Wescot has received a monthly sum of £419.86 through my StepChange debt management plan. Despite this, no payment transactions have been updated on my PRA Group account since March 19th 2026
I contacted Wescot who initially claimed that they no longer managed the debt and PRA Group UK had resumed management. Two days later, I phoned again, Wescot were handling the debt but were experiencing a “system error” with no timeline that they could provide when it would be resolved.
Wescot confirmed they had received three instalments totalling £1259.58 and not returned this to StepChange. StepChange confirmed no money had been returned. They could not confirm my balances and as such I can’t ensure my last StepChange payment next month covers the remaining balance of the debt.
Both PRA Group UK and Wescot have been contacted and still open their responses with balances that are three months out of date and do not show the last three payments.
Both PRA Group UK the legal owners of my debt and Wescot the company they outsourced it to are culpable for their inability to resolve this.
If not resolved - I will be reporting them to the Financial Ombudsman Sevice. As a company with a system error covering a quarter of a financial year are not fit to be trading or chasing other people for their debts

I don't normally leave reviews for debt collection companies, but credit where it's due.
I recently contacted Wescot regarding financial difficulties and requested written communication due to personal circumstances.
My concerns were acknowledged, my communication preferences were respected, my mobile number was removed from their records, and an affordable repayment arrangement was agreed without any pressure or judgement.
The member of staff who dealt with my account was professional, understanding and genuinely helpful throughout.
When you're already dealing with financial stress, being treated with kindness and respect makes a huge difference.

I got a message saying I had a late payment when infact your system does not take into account bank holidays. I was deeply stressed as this account is set up on a direct debit.

Having worked in Lloyds Bank and helped people to sort out their finances, I never thought I would be in the same position, through no fault of my own. In short when I had to leave the Bank at 60 as I was the first phase of the state pension and missed my pension by 7 weeks! Lloyds at the time, had a policy where from 60 onwards you could only work 3 days and must be in possession of your state pension. I had a staff loan from Lloyds at a staff rate and was forced to put this onto interest only paying £1 a month. This loan was passed to many lenders who treated me like dirt, but Wescot have always been respectful and caring. I got a job at 62 and retired at 71, and paid everything back in full except this loan and, as im retired and don’t get any benefits, I can only continue to pay £1 a month. However, when I worked helping others who found themselves in debt, I would have been proud to pass their debts onto Wescot.

Communications always clear, calls always quickly answered and the agents have always been clearly spoken ( I'm a bit deaf) willing to answer questions and very patient.
Payment by direct debit is easy and regular updates useful.
