Not a Review I Expected to Write

I don't normally leave reviews for debt collection companies, but credit where it's due.

I recently contacted Wescot regarding financial difficulties and requested written communication due to personal circumstances.

My concerns were acknowledged, my communication preferences were respected, my mobile number was removed from their records, and an affordable repayment arrangement was agreed without any pressure or judgement.

The member of staff who dealt with my account was professional, understanding and genuinely helpful throughout.

When you're already dealing with financial stress, being treated with kindness and respect makes a huge difference.

Late payment error

I got a message saying I had a late payment when infact your system does not take into account bank holidays. I was deeply stressed as this account is set up on a direct debit.

Outstanding balance

I spoke to one of the assistants at Wescot and found her very helpful and the information she gave me very useful so all in all a very good experience.

Having worked in Lloyds Bank and helped…

Having worked in Lloyds Bank and helped people to sort out their finances, I never thought I would be in the same position, through no fault of my own. In short when I had to leave the Bank at 60 as I was the first phase of the state pension and missed my pension by 7 weeks! Lloyds at the time, had a policy where from 60 onwards you could only work 3 days and must be in possession of your state pension. I had a staff loan from Lloyds at a staff rate and was forced to put this onto interest only paying £1 a month. This loan was passed to many lenders who treated me like dirt, but Wescot have always been respectful and caring. I got a job at 62 and retired at 71, and paid everything back in full except this loan and, as im retired and don’t get any benefits, I can only continue to pay £1 a month. However, when I worked helping others who found themselves in debt, I would have been proud to pass their debts onto Wescot.

Communications always clear

Communications always clear, calls always quickly answered and the agents have always been clearly spoken ( I'm a bit deaf) willing to answer questions and very patient.
Payment by direct debit is easy and regular updates useful.

I took on the management of my partner's credit card debts few years ago and in that time I've had numerous phone conversations with Wescot agents.
I have always, without exception, found them to be polite, understanding and very empathetic to the situation. I have never experienced any form of pressure from Wescot.
As a sole trader for practically all my working life I appreciate the importance of good customer relations and I can only commend Wescot's staff whole heartedly.

I am going through a very rough patch and speaking with staff, has helped me immensely. They were far more empathetic to my situation than I was expecting and, because of this I felt less anxious as we spoke. They realise that when life becomes increasingly difficult, allowing people the opportunity to rectify their problems, gives them the opportunity to become self sufficient again. Just be truthful genuine and respectful and you will see what I mean.

A company that needs investigation.

I am extremely disappointed with the conduct of this company during what has already been a very difficult time for my family.
After informing them of my mother’s passing, I have experienced ongoing issues and a complete lack of empathy. Most recently, despite a new payment arrangement being agreed—at a higher amount than originally agreed —they failed to acknowledge my email and instead chose to contact a widower directly, applying unnecessary pressure shortly after he had lost his wife to increase his payments by hundreds of pounds per month.
This approach is not only insensitive but entirely unacceptable. They bypassed the person actively managing the account and caused avoidable stress to someone already dealing with bereavement.
We have complied and ensured a payment is set up that is more than the original payment yet this does not appear good enough!
Throughout my dealings with them, I have felt that we have been treated with a complete lack of compassion or basic decency. No understanding —just relentless and impersonal pressure.
This company’s behaviour is deeply concerning and, in my view, warrants investigation. No one should be treated this way, especially during such vulnerable circumstances.

I completed a full private remedy process with this company and served a Notice of Dishonour & Perfected Claim.They did not provide any verified claim or lawful rebuttal.This message stands as public notice that the matter is recorded in dishonour and remains unrebutted. This company continues to ignore my request.

I am so upset 😡

I called Westcot Credit Services last week and was passed to the team that deals with struggling. I am a pensioner and was caught off guard by this lady who bombarded me with finance questions and I found it terribly harassing. I am very very upset and my husband who looks after me has a diagnosis of acute anxiety. How could they treat me like this? Shameful.
