Great location and service but ..no…
Great location and service but ..no where to charge your phone? and tv ? No sky no Netflix ?
Interesting
Interestingly, I recently found my afternoon tea menu from 1986! Afternoon tea was £8.50 per person. With inflation this would be equivalent to £32 per person today. Currently, the Ritz is charging approx £100 per person. With so many other interesting options open in London these days who would want to experience the rip off Ritz!
Went to the Ritz for afternoon tea it…
Went to the Ritz for afternoon tea it was very magical and me and my mum really enjoyed it,
I booked it back in October and then again in November but unfortunately because of the Train strike had to cancel both times and I booked it again, 3 time lucky, the 3 time I booked it I cancelled the second one with a lady who took my 3 booking for the end of November ,when I made my first booking the price was £67 and was expecting it to be the same but know it was £102 for each of us this was not explained on the phone call I had with the lady that took my booking,I have emailed the Ritz several times and they are say that they have had a chat with there staff so This doesn't happen again ,not ones have they said we will refund the difference
The ritz , disappointing 🥹
Christmas Afternoon Tea was disappointing. Given a 1.5 hr time slot, though in a decadent room this was unfortunately below ground level , no windows and lacked fresh air . Though the food was the usual afternoon tea , no top ups were offered for both the food and in particular, the tea and the tap water. For the cost and that it was The Ritz, I would have expected for our tea to have been poured for us at least ! No offer of more tea, hot water or tap water to drink in 1.5 hours. Towards the end of the time slot , we felt very rushed into finishing and leaving. This experience felt no different or indeed special than any other afternoon tea I have attended in much less expensive and less high class establishments 🥹
Wanted to book afternoon tea for eight…
Wanted to book afternoon tea for eight people, the reply was it was a maximum of 6 and if we wanted to book for 8 then it would be two tables and no guarantee we would be sitting next to one another.
We was booking for next February 23 so plenty of time for them to organize something but just wasn't interested. I certainly wouldn't recommend their customer service so unhelpful.
Superb weekend here with girlfriend
Superb weekend here with girlfriend. I've stayed many times but as it was her first time I thought we would take in a show and afternoon tea. Amazing suite provided as always. Consierge even remembered me which was unique in itself. They even provided us with a car to take us to the show.

Best of British 🇬🇧
I drove from the Cotswolds to London yesterday to pay my respects as the nation mourns the death of the Queen. By the time I got to Green Park my phone battery had died and I needed to make and important phonecall by the close of play. I was right by The Ritz, so I popped in and spoke to Mark on the Conceirge desk. I explained my situation and asked if he could help me out. Without hesitation he very kindly offered to charge my phone for me, while I went to lay my flowers at Buckingham Palace. I was also grateful that he warned me to zip my bag up because there were pickpockets operating in the crowd down there. This is why I love Londoner's ❤. I was able to take my time with my thoughts walking through Green Park and on my return, I made my phonecall while I enjoyed a lovely cocktail and some nibbles surrounded by the grandeur of The Ritz, before the long drive home #bestofbritish #theritzlondon 🇬🇧
Champagne Tea...Food for thought
Booked a champagne afternoon tea with ease on the website. Rescheduled with ease additionally. Arrived via the side door and was greated by the friendliest of doorman. Our table was by the waiters service area and boarded a walkway which was a shame. It felt a tad like being near a service area in IKEA. The essence of being at the Ritz was missed to some extent. The waiters were very friendly and polite. Our waiter had a very thick accent which made it difficult to understand what was being said above the background noise. I felt a little embarrassed having to ask them to repeat information. Loved the piano playing, thank you Mr Pianist. The selection of sandwiches were plentiful. Our allergen was taken into account. If I'm going to be picky the bread was a tad dry. The scones were warm and tasty and the small cakes were eye catching. We couldn't overly make out the flavour of two of the cakes but that was fine. My friend asked for coffee with oat milk and this arrived. It was lukewarm but drinkable. I asked for a hot skimmed milk and received a hot oat milk. Not something I drink and luckily no allergy. We were offered extra sandwiches, tea and cake. I couldn't tell you if there was an extra charge for this but it's something I'd check if you're watching your pennies or you don't want a surprise bill if theres a charge. There was a sitting after ours and we felt rushed to eat and go if I'm honest. Our waiter brought out a small birthday cake to celebrate our birthdays. Beautiful touch and a wonderful experience so thank you There is a discretionary service charge that wasn't pointed out to us but we paid this. Sadly we were charged £50 for two glasses of champagne, even though we had booked a champagne afternoon tea. The Ritz have said that we drunk the higher price champagne and should have read this. I say, at no point were we told this or directed to the menu. We were offered three types of champagne when asked if we were having a champagne afternoon tea and was not told the champagne we were offered was higher priced. If you're booked for a champagne afternoon sadly my advice would be check that you have been given the champagne for the price you've paid otherwise you may be unknowingly surprised. I wouldn't go back to the Ritz. Aqua Shard would be my go to, great communication, service, food and no surprises.
Simply the best in every way
Afternoon Tea excellent the service the food the place the music the staffs so friendly and kind . So memorable 5 star indeed
Greatest coffee out ever!!
I was just passing with my granddaughter and have always wanted to go to the ritz so we popped in for a drink the staff in the door and at the entrance was very polite and helpful made us feel very welcome I was wearing flip flops as was not prepared and never even thought about going in here and was politely asked to change them and they took me to the cloakroom to do this I didn’t mind then I went back to the bar and was seated at a table and bought the menus we only ordered a coffee and cola but was bought some snacks it was perfect the staff were very welcoming and made us feel special and I will definitely be returning it really made my day in London and my granddaughter loved it she would love to spend the night here but unfortunately this is well beyond by wildest dreams but never say never!!
The Ritz is a wonderful hotel....... however
The Ritz is a wonderful hotel and the staff, in the main, are outstanding.
The disappointment was regarding EXTRAS added to my bill upon checking in and checking out. Both, without any prior explanation.
Whilst checking in I was asked to pay up front for the accommodation which I agreed to do. When I was given my receipt, £300 had been added without telling me. Upon enquiring what it was for, I was told it was for any purchases I may make, i.e. meals, drinks etc.
Upon checkout, £90 had been added to the bill which I found out represented a 5% service charge (tip) for the accommodation element of our stay; again without telling me.
I am a reasonable person and had these 2 items been explained to me, I would probably have smiled and said ok that's fine. But to simply charge me without my knowledge or consent is unacceptable.
Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant. Had the 5 course tasting lunch with champagne. The food and service were out of this world. I have never experienced anything like it. The waiters would lay things down in exactly the right position, plate label facing the front. They explained what was in everything with exquisite detail. The food was gorgeous, the blend of flavours was spot on. Not too rich, not too salty or sweet, every mouthful was heaven. I have never experienced this kind of quality. Truly was wonderful
Good food but disappointing experience
I’ve booked afternoon tea with another 4 friends at The Ritz. The location is amazing, chandeliers and paintings, perfect scenario for an afternoon tea. But I must confess I was quite disappointed with the service.
As we arrived we informed one of the friends was running 15 mins late due to an invisible disability but that we had her tea order.
We were sat on the table and the 15 mins passed by and no one came to attend us. I had to head to reception again and ask for a waiter and the excuse was “we thought you were waiting for the last friend”. The waiter came at the same time the last friend arrived.
The food does taste really good.
We finished the first set of sandwiches and sweets and started, again, the waiving game to call a waiter attention.
We had to wait more than 20 mins and when we finally caught someone’s attention and started to order another 2 waiters came and nervously start telling us we would have to leave in 10 mins. We had to insist to bring us more sandwich and sweets.
Exactly 10 mins later, they came with the bill and the card machine.
Don’t get me wrong, they were all polite but extremely bad organised with the time. It was the first time I’ve left an afternoon tea wanting more food… I think I’ll stick with Fortum and Mason..
Great service
The service at Ritz was brilliant and I really enjoyed staying there with my family. The food was great, the hotel is located right in the centre of London, so I had a really nice stay and would recommend this hotel if you are looking to sightsee and relax in London.
If I could give it less I would
If I could give it less I would. I purchased an afternoon tea as a gift in 2019, unfortunately due to the pandemic there was no opportunity for my mother to fly from Ireland to use the voucher. In March she tried to book her afternoon tea in July when she is due to visit me and was told she had to use it by March 31st. The Ritz had changed the terms and conditions of the purchase without notifying either of us. I subsequently contacted them and was told there was absolutely no flexibility with letting her use the voucher later. Giving someone less than than two weeks to books flights to use a gift which was meant to be a special treat for her ruby wedding anniversary made the whole point of the gift null and void. What was meant to be a special treat has turned into such a source of stress. It took multiple emails back and forth, with customer service assistants completely devoid of any empathy or sensibility in order to highlight that this is not a reasonable approach. I have since been told I will receive a refund however it’s has been 4 weeks and this has not materialised. Today I am being told I will receive the refund after Easter but I will not hold out any hope. I am sorely disappointed in the experience offered by the Ritz. What is meant to be a British institution of class and luxury has in my experience been a nightmare similar to an interaction with rogue traders.
Brilliant experience
A family of seven of us went to the Ritz last week for our mums 90th Birthday.
We were all seated n given a pot of tea each but unfortunately we waited about 10 minutes for the milk. There was no communication from the waiters ie your milk is going to be late we all wondered where it was. Finally one of us had to find a waiter n was told the milk was coming to us. By now our tea was quite stewed. A bit disappointing for the Ritz but that was the one n only complaint.
Apart from the lack of milk at the start the service was fantastic you just couldn't fault it. We had a brilliant waiter called Sebastian who couldnt do enough for us, his personality n sense of humour was the best ever and he really made my mum's Birthday. Thank you Sebastian. There was a Columbian waiter, we didn't get his name, who was lovely also n treated my mum like a queen.
The cakes, tea n sandwiches were flowing. They even gave us boxes of cakes to take home.
Thank you all in the Ritz for the lovely experience and making my mum's 90th Birthday!!!
Amazing experience
Amazing experience, faultless service buy staff. Food was amazing evening meal and breakfast. Can't wait to stay there again. Kevin and Kathy Willard.
Really nice and classy touch :)
Stayed at this outstanding hotel to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The whole stay and experience were fantastic. The staff are so attentive, welcoming and helpful. Lunch was fantastic and a cake was delivered to our table at the end of lunch, really nice and classy touch. The rooms were exquisite, impeccably clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was an experience in its own right with wonderful pastries, fruit and a great English breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Unimpressed by customer service
Before Covid I bought a Travelzoo voucher for the Ritz, it was extended for obvious reasons and I had a booking for this July which was cancelled by the Ritz due to "unforseen circumstances". I rebooked for the 31st October 2021 and was assured by an employee of the Ritz that that was fine as they had extended the voucher until January 2022. Upon emailing bookings at the Ritz to enquire about the menu, imagine my surprise ro receive this email:
May I kindly advise that Travelzoo has decided to refund a lot of vouchers during the past few months without our knowledge, therefore, it is my best advise to get in touch with them to see if they have refunded the voucher.
If they have refunded the voucher, please be inform that the reservation will remain and we will be honouring the same experience, but you will be paying on the day. Otherwise, if they have not refunded the voucher at all, the voucher will remain as form of your payment. Kindly please bring this with you whether they have refunded it or not.
I look forward to your response.
Kind Regards,
Jania
no joined up thinking and, of course I sent them confirmation from Travelzoo that they had not refunded me - when I suggested a round of cocktails for my party by way of apology - received a negative reply. What happed to the old fashioned courtesy that the Ritz used to pride itself in. Have visited on other occasions and would advise the Ritz not to use offer vouchers if they are disinclined to service them.
