Train your care team to be more efficient …

This company needs to get their their customer service into gear never in my life have had such terrible service .All we require is a copy of original receipt it’s taken since the 10 th till 12 th to hopefully get a copy we had it on our phone they don’t except that never shop again at Spotlight again the item is faulty 2 containers have large scratches on the all we won’t is them replaced .

Disappointing customer service
After an error of colour on my part when ordering an item online, I contacted Spotlight immediately after placing the order via the portal explaining my error and asking for help. The swift reply stated they had tried to call me but they had not - it also stated they cannot help. After stating I had no missed calls on my phone and asking for a refund, I did not receive a reply. I know how hard it is to exchange items with Spotlight, the policies need to be reviewed and staff trained to be honest. Poor customer service and lying staff! It's such a shame as I've had great experiences with in store staff previously.

My Disappointing Experience with Spotlight Made to Measure Curtains
I want to share my unfortunate saga with Spotlight’s Made to Measure curtains service, in hopes of saving others from the same frustration.

After weeks of poor communication and lack of service, I finally managed to get someone to address my concerns. While they acknowledged the issues in writing, their resolution was deeply disappointing. Spotlight offered me two options:

A discount of $250 for my troubles.
A refund of $629.11, less than what I paid ($1103.21), despite them not delivering anything at all.
This offer essentially credits them for their costs, as if the time, effort, and stress I’ve endured have no value. It’s disheartening that a company as well-known as Spotlight would provide such poor service and an unbalanced resolution.

In today’s world, we’re cautious about scams from overseas purchases, but this experience with Spotlight—a trusted domestic retailer—is unfathomable. I regret not reading the reviews beforehand; since sharing my experience, even my hairdresser mentioned she’d never heard anything good about them. That speaks volumes.

A Word of Warning
For anyone considering their Made to Measure service: think twice. I wouldn’t wish this hassle on anyone. I’m sharing my story in the hopes that Spotlight reflects on this and improves, though based on my experience, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Absolutely appalling customer service!

Absolutely appalling customer service!
My first order I have had to complain 3 times.

Firstly I ordered 10 items and they decided, one of those items I needed to pick up. I advised them I paid for delivery and that I am currently sick, why would I drive a 50km round trip for one item when I paid for everything to be delivered.
Secondly, I was charged for delivery, when it states free delivery over $120. I spent over $130 but was told due to one item needing to be picked up, it dropped the total to $115. Again, I told them, this was not something I selected, and I wanted everything to be delivered!!!
thirdly, my items arrive, and I am missing another item. I have have a deadline for work within 5 days and need this item delivered to my home address.
I don't believe they will fulfil this request as each time I email them, the responses take longer and longer to respond.
This was my first online ordering experience, and I have a business that would have utilised Spotlight frequently. Due to all the above issues, I will take my business elsewhere and advise anyone else to avoid to online service at all cost.
Extremely disappointed! I now have to scramble to meet a deadline and not pass the disappointment on to my customers.

Disappointing products & service

Started out with a great consult by their Rep however problems then ensued… definitely not happy with the end result & lots of issues in-between. Wrong brackets sent for installation & part of the order not sent for installation. Second visit a number of weeks later & still had wrong brackets. Finally, following installation - on-going concerns include Verishades which don’t cover entire tract - gaps at ends, the wand sits at front of the verishades & detracts from the overall look, one wand is crooked & hangs at an angle, some Verishade panels don’t sit straight & are uneven at bottom. Bedroom curtains are nicely pleated at top but drop unevenly & again detracts from overall look, definitely need more fabric but was told could only have 1.5 amount of fabric and that would be perfect.
Overall far from a pleasantly aesthetic look in any room and I am extremely disappointed… I would not use or recommend again & will be replacing as soon as I can afford it - it has been a very expensive exercise. Lack of care or concern from the company representative was also disappointing.

Health and safety would shut your store..

.Manukau store Black Friday.
If your having a sale putting four overfull trolleys with other various large boxes in the rug floor area is poor planning and stupid.
I complained to the two staff members serving me...no acknowledgement so I asked for a manager and it was one if the person's serving me, what a joke.

Spotlight Fountain Gate staff

Spotlight Fountain Gate store is fabulous and Pauline at the home furnishings/material counter was absolutely wonderful with her help and expertise. I have to also comment on the lady who was at the help desk at the front of the store who was also very helpful, friendly and courteous. Overall a great experience.

I rang spotlight nz to say I can't put in my address always say errors all the time. I sent spotlight emails saying I can't place my order. I can't get into my account to see what address there is. I live in New Zealand not Singapore when I try and go to the address book will not let me in. I have been at this for 2 days

I too am another made to measure blinds…

I too am another made to measure blinds 'prospective' dissatisfied customer. Took 3 months to arrange appointment to measure due to 'agent' availability and timeing it with my tenants availability (who was more accommodating).
Got my quote done friday, didnt quote all my windows as requested only partial. Also requested for dual roller blinds not singles. And when i wrote my email msg that i wasnt satisfied and declined the quote. The msg came back directly from the agent who did the measure;
V....
I’m not sure about this email I had stated on my details of laundry s/d, living s/d , bath &toilet. I did take the measurement for all other locations. If you want a further quote for the additional windows I can supply that for you.
Sorry if there was any misunderstanding of product required. Not that it really matters I’m from another store that was helping out in the Rockingham area for the day.

Manukau Store Auckland. Rude staff member

My husband went into the Manukau store Auckland for a click & collect. He was rudely told by a staff member he was not the person assigned to collect the items. She did not bother to check the email & his ID that was presented. When she did it was snapped from his hand with no apology.
Spotlight Manukau store manager please teach the staff member how customer services actually works.

Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND

Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND the made to measure service. For 11 months they have stuffed us around and had to remake our blinds numerous times. When they only remade one of the two blinds in my bedroom they tried to argue with me that I only had one in my bedroom. Don't waste your time or money. The only thing worse than the quality of their products is their customer service.

Absolutely treated disgustingly in your green hills store today …

Went into the green hills store today to get some balloons. Waited ten minutes at the balloon station before attempting to ask other plentiful staff that was around for some help. The first pretended she didn’t hear me. The second said “I don’t work in that section” and walked off. The third o was angry and was forever to be assertive and say can “can you help me get somebody to the balloon station”. This was after walking to the other side of the store. She huffed and said “yes I will walk down and page somebody” rolling her eyes. I followed her and she did. I said “thank you so much” and she walked off without even looking at me.
Five minutes later a disgruntled lady called Trish walked up and stared me in the face saying “yes?”.
“Yes”??
I said can I please have these balloons blown up and she scoffed.
The rest I can’t be bothered writing about but wow! She was rude and berated me for not being able to find the balloon weights that weren’t stocked on your shelves. Even after I told her three times they weren’t there and asked her to come look and check that I wasn’t crazy! As a person who has worked in retail my whole life and is now a manager of seven stores, you should be embarrassed by who you’ve employed and who is representing your brand.
It was literally like I was asking for a million dollars, not a simple balloon blown up. A service which you offer.
Disgusting. I will never step foot in one of your stores again.

Dreadful Service and Delayed Refund

Went to our local Spotlight asking about curtains to be installed. Consultant arrived, measured up and I indicated we needed the curtains within a few weeks at most. Paid the deposit and asked about installation date. Only then told it could take 6-8 weeks (for one set of curtains and one Roman blind). After indicating this wasn’t going to work, was told 4 weeks which was reluctantly accepted. Following up a week later, I was told we had not accepted the quote - despite accepting the quote supplied via email and paying the deposit. I was told the quote had to be accepted online via a link that was never received. Meanwhile, nothing had been done and they had our deposit. I cancelled the order only to be told Spotlight would not refund the deposit for a week! As an aside, I talked with another supplier who could provide and install ready made curtains and a blind within a week for half the price.

Brought some towels via Spotlights Koo online store. They canceled just one towel and only offered me less the half the money I paid. After emails back and fro, they just paid me $5.75 and ignore me…. Shame on you

Won’t refund defected material

For a bit of background I purchased blockout curtain material with the curtain tape already attached late last year. I purchased it in advanced to take advantage of a sale and my renovations ran a bit over leaving some time before I hung the curtains.

Upon hanging the curtains and having light shine through, significant defects were identified in the blockout. As the material is not damaged this was not noticed until hanging with bright light behind.

Spotlight have admitted that the material is "faulty" however they refuse to refund me due to the time that has passed. However as it is not damage and is a defect, timing has no impact but Spotlight absolutely refuse to refund me for a faulty item they sold to me in good faith.

I placed my trust in Spotlight that the products they sell are in a good condition and fit for purpose. I feel like I have been defrauded as even after it has been brought to light they refuse to make it right.

So disappointed. Dreadful service

Order and deposit paid 19th April. Now 4 months later and after numerous inquiries and complaints the blinds and curtains finally installed 2 weeks ago. However main curtain has a small flaw but worse is lounge blinds are too short and bedroom blind simply omitted. We were assured to be visited today to correct and complete but the service person has neither called nor arrived. Of course we have paid in full circa $4000 but the service remains incomplete. Really don't know what to do. So disappointing
