Great response from crisis centre staff and the teams sent out to give us generators and unearth faulty cable. So far so good, but you cannot fault the workers for their great attitude and working hard to get us power. Hopefully cable repaired before long and the main power re-established. But top marks to SP energy.
Terrible service
Initially service was good. We had a powercut and they came out within a couple of hours to try to repair. It was fairly late so they gave us a generator for that night and fixed the following day. As part of the fix they had to dig up part of our garden and our neighbours driveway - completely understandable.
The issues arose after. We were initially told the work to fix this would be done the following day however when no one turned up for a couple of days we called again and were told the holes had to be left for 3 days incase there were any further issues. Again, that’s fine. After 4 days we called again and were told it was 5 working days that they’d fill the hole. We were assigned a case manager who assured us that the work would be done as a priority.
The following week came and nothing happened at the start of the week. So we called again and weren’t able to get ahold of our case manager but that she would call us back. We tried to call the following day and were told by the person who answered that our case had been closed (not our case manager - she was clearly busy again). Fast forward to now, we’ve called and emails multiple times but haven’t been able to speak to speak to our case manager a single time and no responses to either email or phone. We also keep being told that our case is closed and all work has been complete when clearly it hasn’t!

From start to finish I was informed of everything and on the day in freezing wet conditions the gang informed me throughout the day. They arrived at 7 am and worked continuously till after 5.30 pm. I can't thank them enough especially the Leader.

Great communication and care
No one wants a power outage, but things happen and it’s about how it’s dealt with that matters. Today we had a major failure across a wide area for two and a half hours. However, I had registered as a priority customer as my wife has medical needs and the communication was perfect. I was kept up to date with progress and delays and tonight they even called me to check everything was ok. You cant make better a situation no one wants to be in. Thank you

I work for an energy company and submitted a G99 was very easy and staff were very responsive! They even contacted me via phone to check if everything was okay and then a phone call to see how my experience was- so very receptive to feedback. All in all very good grid connection approval team.

Serious safety concerns ignored — no SAR response, no accountability
I submitted a SAR to SP Energy Networks in September — they are now over 60 days overdue and still haven’t provided a single document. This is despite serious issues involving MPAN inconsistencies, missing D-flows, and concerns about a potential cross-feed raised by an engineer at the time of disconnection.
My property suffered major damage during the New Ferry explosion, yet SPEN carried out no meter checks at the time. Now I’m trying to resolve long-term supply and registration problems but SPEN simply won’t provide the data needed.
Very disappointed given their responsibilities as the network operator.
I am also being very polite with my comments, I could say a lot more.

To say we were getting very frustrated after a long wait for the replacement of a rotten pole is an understatement, particularly as the electric supply to our house came via it.
The team who arrived to carry out the work turned a 1 star review into a 5 star review and their approach to customer satisfaction was outstanding, given they uncovered a further problem.
This resulted in the nightmare scenario of our patio and garden at the receiving end of a mechanical digger.
Paul and Steve in particular were superb, they dealt with us in a manner that reassured us, explaining everything. Well done guys.
Recently had a power cut in my town
Recently had a power cut in my town, Berwick upon Tweed. It was a bit tricky to get through to Scottish Power, but when I did, Laura couldn’t have been more helpful explaining what had happened and what to do. On hearing that my husband is poorly, she made sure we were registered for priority alerts, is sending us a special lightbulb and advice on help for those who need it. The World needs more Lauras . I’m hoping this message gets to her.

Unfortunately, the cable is Open Reach and so time to go through the mill with them but as far as SP Energy, awesome job!!

I want to thank SP Energy Networks for their efficiency and kindness in dealing with a power cut involving just the few number of houses on our street. They kept us informed regularly and even though the fault turned into a complicated job they worked day and night with little disruption to return the power to our house. The workmen were polite and helpful and provided a generator so we weren't without power. You couldn't put the kettle on at the same time as the air fryer and the oven wouldn't work at all but to have power this was a small price to pay! Everything is all back to normal now and if there's ever another power cut let's hope it's SP Energy Networks out there fixing it!
An update on my last review
An update on my last review, this company use another company named Quartzelec. I wouldn't recommend this company, because they promise various thing, then don't keep their word. After I complained about their incompetence and lack of communication with their office staff, they telephoned us three weeks ago to apologise for any inconvenience we had suffered, during the three times that they dug up our neighbours drive, before they completed the work. They offered us a£50 voucher (hush money) that they would get the office staff to order, and then hand deliver it to us. Well in the words of the song I'm still waiting, obviously another lack of communication. I have messaged them an told them that we don't want/need their voucher.

Carrying out noisy work at all hours without informing residents
Digging up the road outside our house with about 4 vans taking up all the parking, a digger, barricades and more. Extremely noisy and disruptive work, some of which was going on overnight. Yet residents haven't been kept informed. Just awful..
Excellent response and service…
I contacted SP Energy about a loss of supply from a generator that had been installed during scheduled maintenance work. Although the initial contact is rather frustrating - yes/no replies to a computer - I was then contacted by a real person!! The young lady concerned was most helpful and, following some further questions about my issue, arranged for engineers to attend. Two engineers attended promptly (it was early evening) and they managed to resolve the problem. Both men were thorough, methodical and courteous and pleasant in manner. Barring the initial contact with a computer (!) it was an excellent service - all completed within about 2.5 hrs of the first call - and I could find no fault with the response by the real people concerned!
