Overpowering air freshener in store.
I would have loved to have gone in ( I tried two different stores - Leeds and York) and both had the most overpowering air freshener I had to leave. It was so bad I got a migraine and I haven't had a migraine in over 5 years.

Well informed of delivery. 2 delightful young men delivered sofas.

We were free to look around without being pestered, but there was a member of staff ready to help as soon as we wanted assistance. He was friendly and helpful and it didn't take long to get sorted.

Sofa was sold by George at the York store. At no point were we informed about potential delivery issues regarding the size of the sofa (being a 1 piece). Only after a failed delivery (won't fit through the door) we were informed about the website offering advice about this issue.

Trying to rectify the issue we contacted a local glazier to have the window removed which we had an agreement with and it was at our cost to resolve the issue.

Then going back to the store they were unwilling to redeliver the sofa within 1 week (we have family coming to stay - no sofa) unless we paid for a private courier at our cost. No flexibility, no assistance, no customer service available online or in branch - just redirect back to sales in branch.

Really disappointing. Look elsewhere

Took months to come . Had suite 3 weeks and can see cushions starting to sink . Cant lift cushions off so dont know how i will refoam them

Made very welcome and comfortable by the friendly staff at Poltronesofa at Clifton Moor Retail Park, York. Lee was very knowledgeable and listened very patiently, giving well informed advice and took us through the whole process very professionally after choosing the sofa and chair of our dreams. We look forward to seeing if delivery is as efficient, and the product we receive is up to expectations.

Went to buy our new sofa from Clifton Moor retail park, we were greeted by Lee and answered all the questions we had about the sofa we liked. Helped us pick the colour we liked and all the extras we wanted. Placed our order there and then! Can’t wait for it to arrive!

George the sales man was great and explained everything and think it was Lee was a great guy too as I haded the warranty later and Lee sorted it and up dated my order both great guys or and love my shopping bag .

Having visited six furniture stores in York looking for the ideal chair, myself and my sister were delighted with your store and available options for the armchair she required. But undoubtedly the deal was sealed by the salesman involved who was not only knowledgeable but wonderfully friendly in his manner. A refreshing change from some of the other stores!!!

Had a great experience when I was looking for a recliner sofa. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and soon found me what I required.

I ordered a sofa bed, recliner chair and footstool from scs york store in November 2025. I was given less than 48 hours notice for delivery and when i called their helpline the next day i was informed that i could not change the delivery date and had to accept the delivery date. On the day of the delivery (11/03/2026) the delivery men informed me that the sofa bed was not being delivered and if i wanted i could take delivery of the recliner chair and footstool which i agreed to and got it delivered.The delivery men then asked me to sign an electronic delivery acceptance form which they said was only for 2 items and not for the sofa bed. Within 5 minutes i receive an email from the company to say that all three items including the sofa bed had been delivered with an attached document containing my signature. I was shocked to say the least and i contacted the york store. I live in dumfries so buying it in such a far away store was a mistake.
I had to tell the york salesperson that i will complain to the police of fraud and then only he sent an email from the store to say that the sofa bed was not delivered. Its been now 2 days since that happened, i have rung the helpline and been on hold for more than one hour and been unable to contact anyone.
Frustrated i went to the Carlisle store where a salesperson has taken my details and has informed me that a regional manager will contact me. The whole purchase was nearly 3000 pounds and you are talking about a big sum of money.
I am still waiting to be contacted and be informed about when i will receive my sofa bed. I would say from my experience for other customers to be wary of scs sofas which has now been rebranded to poltronesofa. Dont be taken in by the big nice stores. Their customer service is left wanting and all in all a very unpleasant experience and very stressful. I felt cheated when i was sent an acknowlegdement to say that all 3 items were delivered when only two were actually delivered. I will update this if it gets resolved either in a positive or negative way. Update 24/03/26 - I have been reassured that the sofa will be delivered by the York store but no communication from the delivery team about this yet. The store manager at york has been helpful but I dont have my sofa as of yet. Ordered it in Late November last year - still waiting

UPDATE 30/03/2026 - I was sent a sofa bed with a completely different colour after having taken another day off. Completely disappointed again. So still waiting after 5 months. If there was a way of giving ZERO STARS I would have given it. Asked them to take it back and send me the colour that i ordered. No word as of yet.
UPDATE 03/05/2026 - After much to and fro between myself and the York store I finally took delivery of the sofa bed which was not the same design but a similar one. It was the same colour and it was delivered. The Salesperson and the store manager at York were actually very helpful and helped me with getting the order to my home
