A Caring Warning About Rightio Plumbers (Hagley Road, Oldbury)
I feel genuinely compelled to warn others about the experience an elderly neighbour of mine— a gentleman in his 90s — recently had with Rightio Plumbers. What happened to him could easily happen to someone else, especially vulnerable customers, and it doesn’t sit right with me to stay quiet.
To begin with, he was charged £144 for a call-out fee, which he was not told about beforehand. His family were then chased for the payment afterwards. For a fee that high, you would expect a clear written diagnosis of the issue or at least some meaningful detail about the work required.
Instead, the entire Job Sheet contained just two phrases:
• “New appliances needed.”
• “Customer refused quote.”
That was it. No explanation of what these “new appliances” were. No actual description of the problem. No breakdown of costs. My neighbour had to get his family to phone the company simply to find out what the engineer had meant.
According to him, he was told verbally that “the job” would cost over £1,000, yet none of this was put in writing. All the engineer documented was that he had “refused the quote.” Even more concerning, those same two vague phrases were copied and pasted into all three sections of the Job Sheet — the parts where they should have recorded details of the visit, the diagnosis, and any parts or labour.
So please be aware:
• If you don’t proceed with their (very expensive) quote, they will still charge you £144.
• And for that money, you may receive little more than a couple of meaningless phrases and no real diagnosis to work with.
As a neighbour who cares about protecting others from this kind of treatment, I strongly recommend avoiding Rightio Plumbers. There are many reputable, transparent local plumbers — sadly, this company has not shown itself to be one of them.

If I could give a minus star review I would. Ihad a blocked kitchen sink and had to call out a plumber. For an hour and 20 mins work I was charged £608. I complained about the price they charge £169 per hour plus VAT. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Not a local company but a national switchboard who farm out jobs
I contacted this company as they were listed as electricians working in my area. After 24 hours they sent a text which I responded to. They took details of the work I needed doing as well as my full address. They assured me that an electrician would get back to me in 24 hours. After this time I rang again and was told they had no electricians working in my area. Clearly they were not local at all and wasted my time - the person I finally spoke to was not based in London at all.

Never had a problem with my Worcester boiler. I called Rightio for a regular annual inspection. Next day I was left without heat and hot water.
They sent a clown who explained me how important is to put the cover back gently.
Mental. Never again.
Avoid this extortion based company!
Initially Mo told me they would have Somebody with me within 1-2 hours to fix the drain blockage from the only toilet in my 94 years old mother’s home, at a cost of £152 plus VAT for half an hour! It had to be done so, reluctantly I agreed. An hour later I got a phone call from Keith who had obviously been given the job (as a sub contractor) and said he couldn’t get there until Wednesday morning, some 72 hours later!
I expressed my disappointment and said no! We need to forget this and I will find somebody else. I did find a local expert who came within the hour and did the job for less than a third of Rightios rate! It’s impossible for me to recommend rightio plumbers based on the extortionate rate and the massive letdown for my mother! They are NOT a local company and use a call- diverting service to a national call centre they then call plumbers nearer to you. I’m extremely pleased I refused to let Mo the call receptionist to take my credit card number prior to the job despite him being so insistent to do so.
This is a scam company- Avoid!!

Shocking fees for no work completed
We had a leak in our shower and contacted Rightio, believing you were a local company as your number shares my area code. Your team were quick to arrange an engineer the same day and assured me there would be no call-out fee.
The engineer attended, was on-site for around five minutes, and advised that a new part was required before leaving. No repair work was carried out. After that, there was no further communication, despite me calling for an update and being told you were waiting to hear back from the engineer.
Several days later, I received a text message demanding payment of £169.56 for “completed work.” This is unacceptable, as no work was completed and no quote or price was agreed. I was also told that attempts were made to contact me, yet I received no voicemails or emails, despite you having both sets of details.
When I raised my concern, your customer service team simply repeated the same script and refused to acknowledge that charging for a job that was not completed is unreasonable. This represents extremely poor service and misleading communication — particularly after assuring me there was no call-out fee.
I am therefore formally disputing the invoice and expect confirmation that it will be cancelled in full. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will escalate it to Trading Standards and Citizens Advice and share my experience publicly to warn others.
It is disappointing that a company operating on a national scale continues to trade in this way, taking advantage of customers who reach out in good faith for help.
The plumber would not pay for the parking and left
I booked a plumber at £160 per hour and informed the person on the phone that parking in front of the building was not free, but that there was definitely space available. When the plumber arrived, he called my tenant to say he didn’t want to pay for parking. The company then called me, claiming that the plumber couldn’t find a parking spot. I reminded them that I had already warned them that parking was not free, but they insisted that the plumber couldn’t find a space even if he paid, and that he would leave if he couldn’t find somewhere within a few minutes. Absolutely terrible service.
Failed boiler repair
Do not use this company you will be overcharged and out of pocket I called them to repair a boiler fault the engineer turned up at 4.30pm diagnosed the fault as ignition circuit board was faulty and said he would source parts next .day several days passed no heating or water I called again and the person tried to sell me a care plan I declined and they said they would be in touch a few days passed and they suggested fitting a new boiler which I declined their website boasted of being able to repair the fault I had I was so disappointed they failed no repairs just took money up front they use sub contractors but fail to deliver
Diabolical service
Diabolical service. I was given a date and time for an engineer to visit and fit a new radiator that I already had, all it needed was 2 x valves and a thermostat plus a length of copper pipe. On the morning then work should have been done I'd got up early because of the 9am appointment, taken up floorboards and carpets, opened up access underneath and at 0850 I received a phone call telling me they couldn't do the job because the valves had arrived damaged. Anyone who knows anything about radiator valves knows, these are available from any plumbers merchants. I was given another date four days later, so I told them to forget it and give me my deposit back. I was promised a call back which never happened and I've been trying to contact them by phone and email for 2 weeks but no one responds, at one time I was put on hold for 32 minutes before I hung up and called them back only to be told someone would call me back either Friday or Monday, but no one did. I managed to get another plumber the following day who has done an excellent job and £70 less than Rightio.
