Have found pet protect sympathetic to needs/requirements over the years, have not failed to pay out towards our vet bills for our little man, who suffers from heart disease & more ailments. Would recommend.

The process was easy to follow

Very happy with this chat service as it lets you be specific and immediately gets you through to an agent if your query is more than a quickfire answer the bot can't sort. On all occasions I've used this chat, both today and in the past, the staff have been really helpful, explained things well, and sorted my queries very efficiently. Other companies, not just pet insurers, should follow your example! Well done and thank you! : )

Insurance quick and easy to complete. I asked for a paper copy which was send really quickly.

Absolutely disgusted with this company. 12 years without a single claim and then suddenly my little doggy needed a lump removing from his front leg and rear leg joint.

After dragging there heels for weeks they eventually paid out.
However they charged me for 2 seperate procedures resulting in 2 £150 excess charges.
And wait for this. They then charged me an additional 25% contributions fee for both procedures resulting in an additional 50%

I've paid over £11,000 in pet insurance since the beginning. £1,300 on an operation only to receive £350 back!!

This is going on every social platform possible!!!!!

Been with Pet Protect for 10 years ever since we got our rescue dog, Leo. The claims have always been settled promptly, which has been really good. However, the weighting of the monthly premiums and excess / owner contributions has become very high over the last two years. Leo is now eleven. His premium has previously risen every year by a reasonable amount. However, over the last two years it has risen from £55 per month to £220. That's a 400% increase in two years and accounts for 44% of what a total claim would be in a year. The excess is £150 and then only 75% can be claimed. Pet Protect know you can't move insurance in reality because of the exclusion of existing conditions. My caution to anyone reading this is to be aware how your premiums will be massively inflated by Pet Protect once your dog reaches their senior years.
UPDATE: The follow up from Pet Protect as per their comment implying they would help did not lead to any improvement. I was told that pet insurance is a luxury item and there was nothing they were prepared to do in addressing the 400% premium increase over just 2 years. In my opinion they have just gone through the motions so that they appear to be doing the right thing to other customers. I am now in the process of cancelling the insurance as the cost is just too high per month and fingers crossed Leo has no serious illnesses. My warning to other customers remains the same. Beware of the extortionate premium increases when your dog reaches senior years.

Claims are dealt with in a timely manner. My dog has complex medical conditions and I needed some guidance prior to submitting my latest claim - the customer service team were first class, really helpful and I cannot recommend this company enough- I have insured my last 4 dogs with them and would not use any other company.

This is the worst pet insurance provider. Our insurance increased by 50% from last year. There is no reason given for this. Our doggie was taken unwell in January 2026 and had a cancerous growth removed, but sadly 3 weeks later we we had to put him to sleep. I actually did not realise that there is a "20% Vets Contribution Fee" to be paid on each claim. That is my error as I thought is would be the same as the excess of £100 which is not payable on each claim if it is an ongoing case. However, the 3 claims we have made are subject to this fee. What is the point in having insurance. Think it's best to keep the money in the bank and just pay rather than this company taking money to swell their own coffers. You should look elsewhere to insure your pets.

This company on the surface seems to offer very reasonable prices but don't be fooled. As soon as you make a claim the penny pinching starts. My vets bill came to £580 with an excess of £130 and 10% vets fees. This company paid out £130, l don't profess to be an expert at maths but even I know when I'm being taken advantage of. This is only a small claim so god help anyone who puts in a large claim and on going treatment. Once again the saying that you only get what you pay for is true. Do not use this company for your pet insurance as you will absolutely regret it should you need to make a claim. I shall run out my policy and then get a policy from a reputable company not a bunch of cowboys like these. Once again avoid at all costs as you will regret it should you make a claim. Further to my review Pet Protect has been in touch and made a further payment of £280 blaming human error for the underpaid claim. I must give the company credit for sorting this matter out very quickly and is much appreciated. As a result I have upped my review to 3 stars.

Pet protect providers an excellent service and their friendly staff have always been at hand to provide advice. Our insurance claims have always been settled promptly and when our dog sadly had to be put to sleep their staff were very empathetic and understanding.

Even though our policy has increased a lot, I am still pleased I decided to go with Pet Protect for our dogs insurance. The customer service is great, it’s easy to speak to a human and they’re always friendly and helpful. We’ve claimed multiple times for an ongoing condition (arthritis) along with other claims and each time they have been paid quickly. Thank you

Never had a problem with pet protect. Has in total 5 dogs insured through them , all lived past 9 , but never such an increase in monthly payment. My cross breed has turned 8 in December and her insurance has gone from £70 to £140pm. Which is ridiculous. They’re saying it’s because of the breed and age. I appreciate the age but they’ve always known her breed. The most Iv ever paid was £85 and that was only 2 years ago for a true breed not a cross, she was a boxer age 9. They are not willing to discount in any way and I have a loyal customer over 21 years insuring between 2 and 3 dogs at once. But I’m tied. Like a mortgage prisoner. If I go elsewhere they won’t insure he ore existing conditions of skin irritation and arthritis. Also, no option to speak with someone. Wheb you contact them through “chat” you can select phone or s mail but they then just change it to e mail.
