SPRAINED MY DOGS BACK LEG!!
On February 13,2025 I scheduled my pet Milo for a full service grooming appointment at 1:45pm for the first time since I recently moved to the area. At the 3 hour mark I had not received a call and decided to pop in just to check if he was ready. Receptionists proceeded to ask the groomer Melody if my pup was ready to which she replied with an attitude "I haven't even gotten to him yet and I haven't even called her!" The groomer that asked her came back and apologized that he wasn't ready and I understood because they looked busy.After I left the store they called me 15 minutes later saying that my dog was ready for pick up.
Upon arrival Melody didn't bring out Milo another groomer did and they did it so fast I was unable to ask any questions. After pick up I noticed that my dog was limping. Throughout the night my dog was whining and crying out of pain and when I took him to his primary vet and was he told us that my dog's leg was sprained; they must've pulled him too hard or he fell. He also told us that he needed to get X-rays done to rule out a fracture.
It took 2 managers and 5 days later for Petco to provide X-rays. I took him to get his x-rays and the vet did not let me tell him what happened; he replied with "we heard what happened". X-ray came back with a suspected fracture but they stated my dog was not limping since he wasn't dragging his leg!! I don't understand what kind of limping they expected!!
Melody is still employed and they don't want to tell me what happened. DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS THERE! MY PUP IS TRAUMATIZED!!! I really hope they get to the bottom of this and the groomer gets fired so no other dog under her care gets injured again!

Terrible customer service
I made an appointment for my fur baby for bath/hair cut at one PETCO location.
I was automatically rescheduled to another location without letting me know. I was then sent a message of the time and location change a few days prior to the appointment. Upon arriving for the appointment, the lights were turned off and the individual working the desk seemed as though he wasn’t interested in working that day. Mentioned he was working alone. Then after I signed the paperwork, he looked at my dog and mentioned he couldn’t wash or do the haircut because of a skin tag. My dog has always had that skin tag and had been given a bath and haircut at this particular place before.
I then told him I would reschedule which I did. I left and went somewhere else and I had no problem with the skin tag. Her hair cut around the face looked so much better than the prior cut given at PETCO.
I cancelled the rescheduled appointment and PETCO lost my business!
Don’t ask questions
I was a regular at Petco for my two dogs grooming. At my last appt I asked about the impact of the MN transparency law on their materials fee. The new law requires that all extra fees be included in advertising. Today i attempted to make my dog’s next grooming appointments at Petco South. I learned I have been banned from the store. Why? Reason given; I asked about the materials fee. Unbelievable!

Took my beautiful mini aussie for grooming. Booked $61.50 package online. My pup had long shiny fur with waves, little mane around her face. They cut all her fur off. Dog hair so short you can't pinch it. Terrible terrible. Then went to pay, they wanted $98. O because she sheds. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WHEN SHE JUST CUT ALL HER FUR OFF!!!!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!
Order disappeared, other misrepresentation
I ordered several bags of dog treats on the phone with a Petco representative since their online ordering system seemed to not work. I received an email from my credit card company that the order fee was charged. Although the website gave a date of receipt three business days later if ordered that day, the phone representative said it would actually be 3-5 days for delivery and she didn't know why the website gave that date. I never received an order confirmation by email or shipping notice. Five business days later I called since the order had not arrived and was told there was no record of any order. When I looked at the credit cad indeed it had not been fully billed either. Absolutely do not order for this company unless they get their act together about not misrepresenting the delivery date, and actually doing what they say they will do. Never again here.

I bought a 15 dollar dog tag in the Johnstown pa store and it broke off the collar and they won't reinbursed me 15 dollars is a outrageous price should have been better quality for the price only lasted 3 months I have the receipt go with chewy better quality and price and they always make you whole not Petco stay away overpriced and cheap quality the store itself is overpriced with just about everything and when looking for something in particular it's most likely out of stock

If you want to be penalized for going in to the store to purchase their product with cash verses putting your debit/credit card information online (and picking up or shipping the product o your home) then this is the company for you!
Reason for this review…I needed two cat calming collars ASAP and checked Petco’s site for a pack of two cat calming collars. I chose Comfort Zone 2 pack for $24.98 (see photo showing the product description and box online). Please note: There was no disclaimer that the price online was cheaper OR that purchasing in store was going to be more money OR that the company does not honor the online price, if charged differently in store. So after checking everything out, I sent my boyfriend to pick up the collars since he was going to be right next door to the Petco location that I had looked at for the collars and the fact that I needed them ASAP. I told him that after tax they would be $26.73 (see photo of the online amount after tax). He came back and said that he was charged $41.72 (see photo of the receipt).
Seeing that he was charged 52% more than what was stated online, I immediately called customer service to explain what happened and see about getting my $14.99 difference back. While the customer service representative on the phone was cordial. She tried to explain that this overcharged amount was accurate because I purchased a 2 pack and the price I was seeing online was for only one collar. I corrected her and said that I was currently looking at the product online and it clearly said “pack of two” for $24.98, (said that I would send her a copy of the add if she didn’t see it online herself) then she tried to say it was always cheaper to buy items online verses in the store. I corrected her again and said no where on the site or product page does it state product online is cheaper verses in store. It only has states that if I auto refill, then it’s cheaper. She kept putting me on hold and came back to say that the only thing she could offer me was a $10 reward credit for my inconvenience (not even the amount they overcharged me for!) and I was welcome to buy the product online for the cheaper price and make another trip up to the store to pick it up or I could have it shipped to me and then I could easily return the overcharged one for a refund….seriously… what???
Not only is this inconvenient, it’s flat out stealing from the consumer and not at trying to hide it.
Where in the world is a $10 reward (which is bogus “money” to them) make up for the $14.99 actual cash, help for my “inconvenience”!?… seriously… keeping my money and the asking me to spend more so I could use my “$10 reward “ not to mention the time to go back to the store, let alone the gas spent to make TWO trips, just so I can pick up an online order for the exact same product I originally bought in person.
I’ve been a good customer to Petco, not only did I previously participate in their rewards program when I saw a deal or needed something quickly and while I have purchased things online (especially during Covid) but I took my 2 cats to the onsite vet clinic. Sadly that will no longer be the case. I’ll no longer be using their vet service or shopping in person or online, not if it’s clearly been explained to me that I’m going to be penalized for shopping “instore” with cash verses online with debit/credit card information. This is definitely a BUYER BEWARE WARNING situation!!
Stay away from Petco Titusville Florida
Petco took my order for same day delivery in the morning and then cancelled it late in the day. First they said it was a delivery issue, then said it was something else, bottom line was they screwed up and then didn't deliver the same day as promised. They are not dependable or honest.
Update, got a message on social media, my order was indeed delivered to the wrong address to another Petco customer who didn't receive their order. Petco customer service told that person that they would replace their order and to just throw mine out instead of doing what's right, when I talked to the Petco manager at the Titusville store, she said oh well, nothing she could or would do about it.
Bad Customer Service experience
I took my 2yr old Chihuahua to petco grooming in Middletown Delaware, to get his nails cut and filed. Assistant stated his tag wasn't good enough they need a hard copy of documentation of shot records, my husband asked if it could be faxed or emailed and was told they didn't have access to it. I proceeded to the front of store where Vet Co was located to obtain a hard copy, after receiving hard copy 15 min later they also emailed a copy back to the groomer section where I was just told they didn't have accessibility to obtain. (First Lie)
After filling out form for service an handing over my dog, I turned around my dog barks and the assistant says I'm sorry I can't clip his nails he bit me. I looked at assistant hand which did not have any broken skin redness or scratch, I asked if i could hold him or muzzle the dog while they trimmed him because he was scared this was his first time. A nice older lady standing near us was like there bites don't hurt and felt my pain and disappointment, I truly feel they just did not want to service my little dog, they made it difficult and even after jumping through the hoops we were denied serve. What is the purpose of having the dog tagged if you have to carry the hard copy, like who carries the hard copy everywhere they go. I can tell the assistant just did not want to do her job that she is paid to do I am highly offended, the money my husband spends at petco weekly alone deserves better customer service than what was given. Time to try Pet Smart.
HORRIBLE
I’m currently on hold with someone in the Philippines who is supposed to be helping me with WHY Petco has not contacted my vet for approval. First I was told Petco did email my vet. My vet has said they have not received an email. Then Petco said they would fax my vet. Then Petco said my vet should call Petco. Then Petco said my vet should go onto a shared portal. This is my second call to Petco. 40 mins currently on this call. SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY!

On January 18, 2025, I took my pet to the PETCO on FM1960 near Atascocita for a bath, a trim around his jawline, and a facial cleaning. What should have been a routine grooming session turned into an absolute nightmare.
When my daughter went to pick him up, she FaceTimed me, and I was shocked—my pet was completely unrecognizable. The groomer had shaved off all his hair, leaving his ears bare and looking as if they had been skinned. This was NOT what I requested, and to add insult to injury, the staff was rude, dismissive, and outright lied, claiming this was what I had asked for.
I paid $100 for this botched grooming job, and instead of rectifying the situation, they told me to come back the next day to speak with the manager—who might not even refund my money.
This level of incompetence and disregard for both pets and customers is unacceptable. If you care about your pet and your peace of mind, stay FAR away from this place!

Spent hours on the phone for nothing
Spent hours on the phone for nothing. They lied everything else felt like a scam. They send me fish that die Everytime. It is ridiculous. They then give me a huge hassle for replacing the fish instead they give me the "coupon" price back of the fish and said it should be there in ten business days. Don't buy from them. They suck. Flat out. They agreed to send me replacement fish and then wasted several hours of my time on the phone for absolutely nothing. I am gonna call them and hang up until that 3 hour mark is met on my end.

Took my puppy in at 4months old and wanted him trimmed. Picked out on board what i wanted and left.got bk 3 hrs later and my havenese puppy was scalped .no nails done no bath but I was charged 65$ not the 50 they quoted.was told by cashier i have to pay for cleanup and their shears plus disposal. I said that's bull.i paid and called the mngr but they were never in.was told they would have her call me when she comes in.its been 6 months now and no call.call corporate but the girl i spoke to didn't understand English very well and transfered me to store again and was told the same crap.mngr not in.he will call by 1pm.no call so I called at 330pm and he said he can't do anything cause it was too long ago. I told him if you and your company would do their job this would have been resolved before now.he was very rude and I told him I'm contacting the BBB. He said go ahead and I hung up.im calling the BBB thus morning. No one should be treated this way and be charged for crap that wasn't done.i wouldn't go there if I was you cause I'm not.even 3 of the workers said they can't keep decent mngr there cause they are too lazy and rude to do their job.do t trust PETCO for anything.

My bag of cat food was bought with a coupon that I earned purchasing repeat orders to the tune of $47. Because I didn’t pick my bag of cat food up within a certain number of days five days I believe they would not reimburse my coupon of $47.Do not use Petco!!!
The manager at the store at Howell Mill Collier Road was absolutely giddy at the idea that they were stiffing me for the $47 coupon and that I would be forced to purchase the bag of cat food from her store. The whole experience was absolutely humiliating. I’ll never use Petco again for anything never ever again.

I am deeply disturbed by my experience with Petco's grooming department. My pet suffered both abuse and neglect during a recent visit, and I feel it is crucial to share this so others are warned.
I had a bad feeling about the situation when I dropped off my animal. When I returned to pick my dog up, I could see the physical and emotional toll it had taken. My pet appeared extremely distressed, panting heavily, trembling, and traumatized, and his eyes sunken in. Angel R. was his groomer on that horrific Day!
The grooming process seemed rushed and poorly handled. There was neglect regarding the quality of care, and my pet’s well-being was not a priority. It became evident that the groomers failed to take necessary precautions or provide proper comfort during the grooming. The result was an anxious and physically hurt animal, who now associates grooming with fear and pain.
This experience has left me heartbroken and angry. Petco’s grooming department failed to provide the basic care and attention every pet deserves. I will never trust them with my animal again and strongly urge others to reconsider their decision to use their grooming services. My pet and I are still recovering from the abuse and neglect, and I am left with a sense of betrayal from a company I once trusted.
