Hopefully this is a balanced review. The first Komp we received did not work and it took a few days of phone calls with Komp to get confirmation from their end that we were not doing something wrong and that the device was broken. Nina was patient but understandably couldn't just take my word that the unit was not working. Thereafter they replaced it and the new one worked ok. That all took about 2 weeks to sort out.
We got the Komp installed in my Father's care home, although discovered their WiFi was not working, but the Komp worked ok over the 4G network. Unfortunately, my father, who has dementia and is a 'technophobe' couldn't get on with it because he didn't understand how it worked and was frustrated by not "being in control" of it. This is a real shame because we set-up several family members in the group and sent him regular photos and text messages, as well as video calls. Sadly he actually found this to be unsettling. We persevered with it for over a month but it came to a head on day when he got frustrated about some photos his Grandson has posted, saying he didn't know why he was being sent them and that it bothered him that he didn't understand how they got there or that he couldn't reply. Sadly, this is the depressing reality of dementia ...
Overall, I'd say it is a great bit of technology and it was a pity my Dad didn't take to it. In our case the 3-month trial has proved to be a blessing and we have returned the Komp for a full refund without a problem.

The Komp video call and scrolling photo screen was a godsend for my elderly mother to stay in touch with family and friends during the years of lockdown and after when she moved into a care home. She hugely enjoyed uploaded photos and the video call facility required no effort on her part to receive incoming calls.

Dealing with the company at different times for a replacement unit, technical queries and then returning the unit was simple and efficient.

Pluss: Én knapp er genialt, enkel i bruk, godt konsept.
Minus:
-Savner mulighet for å laste opp filmsnutter.
-Høyttaleren/forsterker burde ha vært kraftigere, burde ev. ha vært mulighet for å koble på ekstra høyttaler.
-Burde hatt headset-mulighet, både med ledning og trådløst. Min mor mistet mye av gleden ved Komp fordi slike muligheter manglet.
-Bilder man laster opp, beskjæres av Komp. Deler av bildet blir borte. Noen bilder fyller hele skjermen, noen bare 2/3 - vanskelig å finne ut av.

Komp er OK, men ikke bedre enn det. Det er skuffende at man bare kan kommunisere fra mobil og ikke PC. I tillegg er det bare 5 bilder man kan laste opp om gangen (hvis man bruker abonnement). Å sitte på mobil å laste opp bilder fungerer kanskje for yngre mennesker ikke for meg. Det er også synd at man ikke kan ringe til utvalgte mobiler eller andre Komp-er f.eks. ved hjelp av et stort tastatur og bilder av personer.
Min søster har iPhone 14 som ikke er kompatibel med Komp.

This simple device became a lifeline for my elderly Mum during the first periods of lockdown in 2020, enabling her to 'see' her family, and for us to see her. She often felt we were actually in her living room with her! Once the Covid lockdowns were over she didn't want to stop using Komp. It is a brilliant product, easy to use and customer service is excellent. It should be a standard product that every family knows about if they have an elderly relative, it really does reduce the isolation and loneliness.

En fantastisk produkt for rett målgruppe, burde finnes til for alle ensomme eldre som ikke klarer å håndtere smartphone eller PC.... Outstanding kundeservice fra komp.family

Våre foreldre fikk Komp til jul og er svært fornøyd.
Eneste utfordring er at volumet er ikke tilfredstillende. Begge foreldrene våre er over 90 år og det er dårlig volum i forhold til deres hørsel

A fantastic product which really has been so beneficial to my Mum particularly during Covid. It’s very simple to use and the screen is huge so it’s easy to see pictures and video.

När vi hittade Komp blev den vår räddare i kommunikationen med vår mycket gamla och svårt hörselnedsatta familjemedlem. Kompen hörde hon då den har bra ljud och textmeddelandena löste annars problemet. Den tekniska lösningen passade perfekt för en totalt oteknisk person. Inga problem med användningen för mottagaren eller sändaren. Vi är så nöjda med Komp och kan rekommendera den varmt.

I purchased this device two years ago just before my Dad went into care. He will be 92 next month and he loves it. Whilst in care he was locked in on a number of occasions due to Covid and the Komp allowed us to call him twice a day to keep him up to date. The scrolling photos with captions has helped him to remember who people are which is so important. The controls are simple the sleep function really useful and staff are always on hand on the couple of occasions we have had issues. If you have a senior relative, I recommend this device 100%

We are all fans of KOMP during the last 4 years. It has brought us all together at some trying times. “To KOMP”, “Have you Komped” , “did you see that on KOMP” and “it’s a Komping opportunity- (as you photograph something to share with Grandad) “ are all well known phrases we use in the family. Excellent, swift and professional support service. We’d highly recommend.

Great unit to help people stay in contact. Very easy to use, it allows you to receive photos, messages and video calls with one simple twist of a knob.

Customer service is very good, quick to reply and resolve any issues. Definitely recommend.
