National Intensive is a misleading overpriced admin service.

National Intensive is a misleading service that charges you for minimal admin, an outdated web page and consistent clerical errors.

From the name and the price point. you’d expect much more than a service that simply be pairs you with an instructor and books your test for you in six months time. I’d encourage all and anyone considering to simply put in an extra few minutes research and admin, and save yourself the exorbitant additional cost of the course.

DO NOT USE, AVOID, SAVE THE HASSLE AND THE STRESS.

FOLLOW UP.

Under the guise of “improving their system”, they are trying to coax people into giving them a good review through the work of the instructor, not them. I have blanked his name as I don’t want him associated with this bad review as he was excellent and I will be looking to give him great feedback on an independent page.

Can’t make it up.

I've had 3 tests booked for April

I've had practical driving 3 tests booked for April, all cancelled without telling me. Payed alot more than average, they booked my first theory when I had a live meeting for my uni assignment when I specified no Thursdays so I had to pay again more than the actual fee and travel 100 miles to get it done sooner than a few months. Everytime my practical tests got booked it got cancelled sometimes within 5 minutes of receiving an email saying I've got a sooner test date so everytime I call up, No customer service, tried calling just rings out it doesn't tell you there's a waiting queue anymore on the phone so I guess they've just turned their phones off. Absolute disgraceful service, daylight robbery to the point theses kind of services are currently being phased out by DVLA. Save your time and stress and book stuff yourself, least you won't be messed around and change your plans life around all the time. Highly disappointed -10 stars. Few regards for companies like this.

We’re sorry to hear that you feel dissatisfied, however we must respectfully disagree with several points raised in your review.

All services provided were carried out in line with the agreed booking terms and conditions, and timelines were dependent on external factors outside of our control, including availability and changes made by the DVSA.

With regard to your theory test, this was booked in accordance with the availability and the preferences you provided in your email dated 23 January:

“Any day after the 8th of Feb is fine… I have uni 9–6pm on Tuesdays… Thursdays, preferably not but if essential, I can.”

Based on this, a suitable slot was secured. As you will be aware, theory test availability can be limited, and your flexibility allowed us to proceed with the earliest option. You unfirtunately had to resit the thery test which caused a delay

Following your theory test pass in March, the practical test booking process was then initiated. As per DVSA regulations, a practical test cannot be booked until a valid theory pass certificate is in place.

Regarding cancellations, these are unfortunately a common occurrence within the DVSA system and are not controlled by us. We understand this can be frustrating, but these changes happen externally and can sometimes occur at short notice.

In terms of communication, we do operate a phone line, and while it can be busy at peak times, calls are answered in turn. We also remain available via email for any queries or support.

We appreciate your feedback, but we do not accept that the service provided was misrepresented or handled improperly.

Lovely staff at National Intensive.

I am basing this review solely on my experience with the staff I have spoken to over the phone.

Yad was who sold me the course and he is incredible at what he does. I do love being sold to by a good salesperson and he did absolutely that. He was knowledgeable, friendly and informative and was the main reason I booked with NI over another company. I first called up with a lot of questions and he answered them honestly and patiently which put my mind at rest, as it’s a lot of money to part with.

When I called up to enquire about cancellation progress I spoke with Kate, who was very friendly and incredibly helpful. I know I probably called up a bit disgruntled because of the long wait for test dates right now, but she let me rant which I appreciated, and immediately offered me a solution which was including other test centres. She reached out to my instructor immediately and I then got a very fast response saying the cancellation search was being extended to two more areas. I came away feeling positive and trusting that my booking was in good hands.

I passed first try with my instructor

I am so pleased with the driving instructor I was assigned! After signing up to go through national intensive John rang the next day and we scheduled in my hours of the course so quickly. My skills developed fast once I started working with John and I felt very comfortable on each of my lessons. I’m relived to say I passed on the first try after having John as my instructor! The only thing I would bare in mind going through National intensive is that it was not as quick a process as i expected, but other than that I recommend John highly as a driving instructor!

Absolute waste of money

Absolute waste of money, it’s marketed as a ‘crash course’ with an increased pass rate when really you just pay a lot of money for 30 minutes of admin! I ended up doing the leg work anyway as they could only offer the usual test dates (4 month waiting list) when I proactively looked for cancellations.
I’ve now passed my test (by doing everything myself…. Didn’t even have 1 lesson through this company) and can’t get even a penny back from them!

We’re sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with the service. Our courses include instructor allocation, test‑date support, and ongoing admin throughout the process, but DVSA waiting times are unfortunately outside of our control. Test centres across the UK often have waiting lists of several months, and while we do search for cancellations daily, these cannot be guaranteed.

Regarding the deposit, this becomes non‑refundable once an instructor has been allocated, as outlined in our terms and conditions. Although you chose to arrange everything independently, we were still ready to provide the driving lessons included in your course.

We never want any pupil to feel they haven’t received value, and we’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. If you would like us to review your case again or discuss anything further, please contact our support team, we’re always happy to help.

After registering, I was bombarded with an absurd amount of spam texts — 18 messages starting from 1am and continuing until 6am, all from different numbers.

I tried opting out using the link in the messages, but it made no difference. The texts just kept coming, and because they’re sent from multiple numbers, blocking them individually is pointless.

This is incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to avoid using their phone number with this service.

UPDATE TO YOUR REPLY:

You are correct, that was me who submitted the complaint. I use a different name on review platforms.

However, your response is insufficient. Despite receiving confirmation that my details had been removed and that I had been unsubscribed, I have continued to receive further text messages as recently as this afternoon.

This raises serious concerns about how my data is being handled and whether my request has actually been actioned across all systems.

Given this, I have now escalated the matter to the ICO.

I would appreciate a clear explanation as to why I am still receiving messages after being assured that I was removed, and confirmation that my number has been fully deleted from all databases, including any third-party systems.

Couldn’t fault them

Couldn’t fault them! Hear so many bad reviews about NI but people are always quick to jump on for a moan so only felt right of me to compliment them when good!! Brilliant service on their part!!

Called in Jan 2026 to book an intensive…

Called in Jan 2026 to book an intensive course. Was told I’d get a test date for around 6 months time, but will be brought forward and can expect a test around March.
We are now almost mid April and still no test. Have been given one in July on a date we can’t do.
Have called a couple of times to find out what’s going on. Each time no explanation given and just told, we should get one soon. Otherwise we have the July date. So no idea why we’ve paid for a service that promises a quicker test date?
Have been allocated an instructor who’s been great and keeps offering us tests for a couple of weeks time. How can he get them when national intensive keep saying none are available.
Been told that if we have to use the July date we’ll get a refund of £70. But we paid £500 on the basis of sooner test, I could have just booked one myself for 6 months time for £60?
Called again on Friday to complain, was told we’d get an email to follow up the compliant. Still nothing.
Shocking service and false promises made to get us to book. Avoid this company. Save your money and book yourself. Feel we’ve been completely mis sold and they don’t care

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with your experience, but we do need to clarify a few important points.

Firstly, under our Terms & Conditions, we do not guarantee specific test dates or timeframes. Driving test availability is entirely dependent on the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and varies significantly by area. While we always aim to secure the earliest possible test for our customers, this is not something any provider can promise or control.

At the time of booking, estimated timeframes are given based on typical availability, but these are not guarantees. Delays such as the ones you’ve described are unfortunately common due to ongoing test backlogs.

Regarding instructors, it’s great to hear your allocated ADI has been helpful. In some cases, instructors may independently come across short-notice test slots. While this is not part of the service we guarantee, we’re always happy to support this and reimburse where appropriate if a test is secured this way.

We also note that you have been provided with a confirmed test date. Where that date is not suitable, we do try to offer alternatives or partial refunds in line with our policies, but again, availability is outside of our control.

Finally, we’re sorry to hear you feel communication has fallen short. That’s certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and we will review this internally.

If you would like us to investigate your case in full and respond more specifically, please contact us directly with your booking or course ID, as we are currently unable to locate your details from this review alone.
