I have been at the MEC Store in Kelowna several times. The service is horrible!!! I was trying to purchase hiking shoes and I was told quote "Can't you see we are busy". I waited for over 15 minutes over a couple different visits and did not get help. I went to Sport Chek and the store was twice as busy and was helped immediately. I will not support this location.

I bought a travel bag with lifetime warranty… when I brought it in a few years later, I was told lifetime warranty is 3-4 years! It doesn’t make sense and is a bit comical! It’s my last purchase with MEC after the horrible customer service received!

Rural customers beware! I decided to use the mail in return process for the return of an order to avoid driving 3 hours round trip on icy roads to the nearest city to return in person. I was willing to suck up the flat rate ship back fee as it was cheaper than gas and parking. What I did not know was that they have no tracking process on the status of your return other than the confirmation that Canada Post delivred the return to MEC. After about a week or so upon their receipt of the treturn I follwed to see what was happening, no only could they not tell me the status of the return but I was told it would take 6 weeks and that I should just have faith that they will not lose my parcel. I am now having to pay credit card interest on the orignal purchase while I wait for the refund on my credit card.

The MEC on 111 east 2nd Ave Vancouver is by far the worst sports store ever in Great Vancouver area. Not one of them but the one and only horrible store ever. We’ve been MEC customers for decades.

Not to mention you have to pay 2.85/hr for parking (no less than an hour parking option) but the store staff and the security people follow you everywhere including underground parking, not to provide service to you but to keep an eye on you. They keep certain distance but it’s very obvious they are following you. They are very bad at hiding. I work in a school and usually go there shopping after work. I mean I don’t dress up like a person from a shelter. We usually buy at least $300-1000 worth of merchandise at a time…they did better service job when they were on W Broadways. Every since they move to this location service became surveillance.

Geez can’t even spend some time shopping peacefully. Just leave me ALONE😒

We will never go back to this store, EVER. Take your money elsewhere.

Don't order from this company as if you have to return anything it will take up to 6 weeks from the time they receive it before you will see your fund back. They have no problem charging your Credit card right away but take their time about return you money.

I went to vist our local store and was confronted by the staff at the door. I had a shield on but was told it was not acceptible. I was told that a bandana, or my t-shirt was acceptable if I did not want to wear a paper mask for health reasons. I came face to face with Medical Discrimination. WOW.

When MEC were a Canadian company, they were outstanding. Service and quality were unquestioned.

Now that MEC is owned by a US holding company they are horrible.
It just took me 6+ weeks to receive a refund for an item I bought online. And I had to pay $11 to return it. I only received the refund because I became the 'squeaky wheel' Otherwise I assume I would still be waiting for my money.

Went to MEC in Calgary today. I was all the way up stairs and though the entire store. Then someone comes up to me with a box of masks. I said I have a medical exception. He said, we don’t accept them, you will have to shop online. I said no thanks, I will spend my money else where. I crossed the street and went into Atmosphere. I had great service, nobody asked me to wear a mask and I spent $300. Not sure why business continue to harass their customers. The store was not busy, very easy to social distance. Anyway, I will not be shopping there again.

Do not order online from MEC. They make you pay return shipping and charged me $13 to return my item to their inventory.

I tried to return a $184 pair of Fjallraven pants (I wanted one size larger). I followed an arduous e-mail, filled out all the paperwork and paid $17 to return the pants to Richmond at the request of their customer service and no response. I followed up 10 days later, no response. I’m out $200 + and no pants.

When I initially joined, I was told that I can only purchase from this store if I had a membership. Sure, its was only $5, but was told that this was to keep prices down in the store. I was pleased with the selection and enjoyed shopping there for a while. But recently, I started visiting again. The store had gone from affordable to completely over priced. What happened to the purpose of the membership. I litterally could not believe how much they were charging, when I can go elsewhere at 20% lower. This store lost its way, and will most likely never shop there again. Its out of my price range anyway.

I have been a longtime MEC customer. Attended North York store on 14 Oct 2021. Not one staff member acknowledged my presence. When asked they stated it was not their area. Most turned away when being approached. I knew what I wanted but needed to size several items. Was intending on spending quite a bit of money on footwear and a gravel bike. Left without purchasing anything. Other customers were approaching me as they were not getting assistance either. Quite disappointing.

I was a good customer for decades. Now I am changing for a better Sporting Goods store which respect customers. . Customer service agents and supervisor need a serious coaching. M.E.C. is hardly honouring their Solid Rock Warranty! Be aware when doing purchases

I placed a few orders with MEC over the last 3 months. The first one was for clothing. Majority of my order was great, good quality. One article was damaged. I called and talked to customer service. They emailed me a return postage slip and this part of the process went smoothly. My One star review is for the slow processing time of the refund. Don’t lose your tracking info, nowhere in your account does it show that your refund is being processed and even though they supplied the return slip they knew nothing about it. At 6 weeks and a few calls later I finally received my refund.

My second order and probably my last, was placed 5 days ago and it still has not been shipped. I was informed that it might be shipped early next week. Most companies ship within a few days. Time to speed up your refund & shipping MEC.

3 MONTHS WAITING FOR A RETURN FOR THE ORDER Order #EU20343 and I still haven't got any news from them, despiste I have written emails and tried to reach them multiple times. When it comes to get the money from you they are ultra fast, but when they have to give it back it is a real nightmare.

About as bad as it gets. 6 to 8 weeks to manage a simple return. This is on a $400 plus item. It’s winter gear so by the time the return is processed it will be summer.
Using Covid excuse. Got to be kidding when returns take no interpersonal interaction. Unless company has commmited to poor service.

I love MEC, although I don't find they have many sales so the prices can be higher than other stores. Their warranty and return policies, particularly on their MEC brand, are great. They sometimes have free shipping with no minimum and usually free over $50. My only complaint is they don't have a lot of stores if you want to try their clothing on so you have to rely on customer reviews.

Ordered mitts that arrived quickly but were damaged. Got great service for the return and was able to move up a size without a hassle. The replacement pair was long to arrive but that was due to CN post not MEC. The mitts are not as warm as I hoped but that may be my hands - always icy. I would shop again with MEC. My husband got his mitts in record time.

MEC has gone so downhill this year.to start with they have had a big problem keeping stock in the store so you must always order online .we went out of our way to shop local this year.i ordered darn tough socks for my girls in November.almost two months later i am still waiting and yet MEC refuses to file the service ticket required so that Canada post can investigate.i was told finally by supervisor that tifg i did not receive the item in the next week i could call and they would put it through .i called today to be told no they still would not do it.as well i called a couple weeks ago nd an call person just cut me off put me on hok,d and never came back.these socks were available on amazon and would have been here way before Christmas but we were loyal to MEC sadly they were anot loyal back.plenty of other good outdoor stores many with better sale and service and stock on hand
