Truly awful service. Laurus were the Solicitors on the other side when I was buying a property in London. Their work was slow, shoddy and they frankly didn't seem to care. It took months to get a relatively straightforward transaction through and caused huge amounts of unnecessary stress. Do not use this firm - you will regret it!

Katia was the assigned solicitor from Laurus Law who assisted to sell my late relatives house and the whole process took around 6 weeks. She was very patient and her communication was very good and not overwhelming. In addition to this, her approach was a 'hand held' one which made me feel at ease especially having to use a solicitor for the very first time, the confidence she gave in the service that she provided was phenomenal.

Despite some difficulties with the cofreeholder, we had excellent advice on how to deal with the problem. Emma and Sarah kept us well informed on the sales progress and we're very friendly and helpful. We were happy with the fees which were clearly explained. Listening to others experiences of house conveyancing we obviously had a very good team.

We recently used Laurus for a purchase. They are one of the most expensive solicitors out there but in return very disappointing and poor customer service.

Kausiha, who is one of the senior associate, made some assumptions about the lease and created a mess for us which caused aggravation with the landlord and in the end her assumption was totally wrong and after wasting a week back and forth on that subject the sale fell through!

Even after that, we didn’t get any apology plus she tried to charge us almost the full amount as the abortive fee claiming they spent time on the case which was less than 2 weeks and there wasn’t a mortgage offer in place yet! She didn’t recognise the fact that she caused the problem based on her wrong assumption and spent 1 week simply trying to understand that!

We have worked with multiple solicitors in the past and never had this issue before. You expect solicitors to be fair and objective, not try to take advantage of the situation that they have created…

Update: James, thanks for your reply but my feedback is genuine and I gave the same feedback to the related solicitor weeks ago that I mentioned her name in my feedback already. You can check the details with her, and hope that will help other people for the future.

We have just purchased our second home and used Laurus Law to help us through this process. Jilna and Sophie were very efficient, great communicators and informative in helping us understand what can be a confusing and challenging process. I've heard lots of people say that buying a house can be really stressful, and I have to say our experience has not felt stressful at all, and we have felt that we are in good hands the whole process. Our purchase was a fairly straightforward one, which helped. However, we still appreciated that Jilna & Sophie progressed us through the house buying process quickly, thoroughly and thoughtfully. Brilliant. Selling is always stressful and this transaction had its fair share of obstacles. Emma and Briannah pulled out all the stops and kept us on track and we successfully completed on time.

Emma and Briannah provided exceptional service during our flat purchase. They were extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process, successfully pushing the transaction through just before the stamp duty deadline which saved us £6,000 despite a complicated chain.

Their expertise was particularly evident when they identified several legal issues with the flat that needed rectification, including locating a missing lease. These were problems the sellers' solicitors had failed to address during the previous purchase, and resolving them has put us in an excellent position for when we eventually sell.

Their thoroughness and attention to detail were impressive, ensuring we avoided potential future complications. We're very happy with the service received and will definitely use them again when we decide to sell our property.

A deeply disappointing experience from start to finish.

Despite charging significantly more than other firms I considered, the level of service, communication, and attention to detail was far below expectations. I chose this firm because I was working to tight timelines and hoped that paying a premium would ensure a smoother, less stressful experience for my first property purchase. The onboarding process was promising - efficient and seemingly well-organized - which initially reassured me.

However, it quickly became apparent that the firm was overstretched. My original solicitor left without any notice, and I only found out after repeatedly trying to contact them for over a week. This lack of communication caused considerable delays, as the new solicitor had to get up to speed from scratch. To make matters worse, my file was mixed up with another client’s, compounding the delays and adding further confusion.

Throughout the process, I felt anxious and unsupported. While the firm did acknowledge my formal complaint, I saw little tangible improvement in service. In contrast, friends using other firms during the same period had far better experiences.

Communication was inconsistent at best -I often went over a week without any updates, leaving me completely in the dark. On top of that, there were multiple errors that I had to spot and flag myself, which left me questioning how many other mistakes may have gone unnoticed. Ultimately, we exchanged contracts months later than originally planned.

Given the cost and the promises made, I expected a far higher standard of service. I would not use this firm again or recommend them to others.
